It's just a text file that can be applied with any UNIX-y patch program. Should I just attach my modified version of Skada.lua instead?

With respect to odd behaviour, I have seen my version flicker into/out of combat if you are e.g. in a battleground and there is a fight relatively nearby that you are not actually participating in. Not sure how that can be fixed/circumvented, but at least for me meters are not a high priority in bgs...

Added your patch to trunk, modified slightly to prevent starting combat for trivial fights.

When a non-self combat start is detected, a new current set is created and CL event processing starts but combat is not actually started. A 3 second timer starts which cancels combat start. If 5 CL events are processed before this timer, combat starts.

As the set is created already at first non-self combat detection no CL events are lost even though combat doesn't actually start until combat start is confirmed.

Seemed to work nicely tonight, but give it a whirl and see.

No, I mean that I can not download the patch.

Is there any chance of including this patch?

I can't seem to get the attachment to load.

Sure, cheers; I will have a look at it later today. And yes indeed, this method was used for a short while in early revisions, but discarded as it caused combat detection to fire off from silly things. In hindsight, improving that detection instead of scrapping it could have spared us all many many "but it is not identical to Recount!!1!" posts. ;)

I have written a module that adds a friendly fire damage mode (Skada_FriendlyFire), it is still in experimental status but as soon as I can test it properly I will release it. It will add some data into the set / player objects, as I understand it it is the way to go about such things (for player object data is friendly fire damage done amount, as well as amount for each raid member targetted / spell used).
First question : is it all right with you if I do that ?

Sure is. You can use any data structure you want, really, but the default dataset is convenient.

Second question : if you could go over my code and tell me if it's up to par with your standards I would be grateful. Specifically I could not find a way to use the existing framework and say that I was interested in the events that had dst AND src as raid members so I have to parse more events than I should, I do it in such a way that should not be more demanding on resources than if it was coded in the framework but I may have missed something.

Pass in {dst_is_interesting_nopets = true, src_is_interesting_nopets = true} to Skada:RegisterForCL(). The events will only be delivered if all criteria are true.

You may want to add SWING_DAMAGE.

The addon looks good to me. :)

I figure I have to be doing something wrong, but I use Skada with two windows, one the default called Skada, and the 2nd one I named Threat. I'm attempting to replace Omen completely, and it works fine, except when I'm on my pally tank. I have "Do not warn while tanking" checked, but it doesn't matter.. I get the Fel Nova sound I set over and over every time the other tank is tanking and I am riding his threat (like on Saurfang when we switch off.. especially obnoxious on that fight). There is no way to drop my threat instantly other than salving myself and not attacking whatsoever, and this is incredibly annoying on my paladin. Is there any thing short of disabling all sounds on my pally (which I'd have to undo when I'm not in tank spec) that I can do to fix the problem? I may be missing something simple, but i really need this to work in order to replace Omen.. I'd hate to go back to using Omen with Skada when Skada works perfectly otherwise.

Are you on Blizzard's main-tank list? SkadaThreat uses that to determine if "you are tanking".

In case you are not using that, another way to solve it is by using different profiles, one for your tanking needs, and one for your DPS needs.

Ok. Then, I just wonder is it possible to add a function to a Damage Meter addons to save meters of particular fights?
I'm talking about damage charts that you link into the guild / raid / party chat after fights.
Would it be possible to save that so you can link it later?
In this case, I don't care about possible frauds - just saving charts.

In Skada you can manually mark any fight segment for saving. These segments will then not be automatically deleted.

Thanks, i'll try it out at the next raid. Another thing i noticed though is that Skada uses around 600kb on login, with no reports saved or anything. What's causing this memory usage, as i have no fights saved? I noticed the memory gained a little bit after every update.

That memory usage is from the actual addon; basic functions, configuration, libraries, etc.

Yeah, i'm only using the Damage and Enemy module, though it would be perfect if i could disable the data collection of abilities used, amount of hits/crits etc.

Those bits add very little to the event processing required, as it is all passed in one single event, which would need to be processed anyway. It does add to memory usage of course.

I was a bit bored at work so I butchered the Damage module. http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info15537-Minimaldamage.html

For those of you who have had trouble with random selections (and tooltips) while browsing the meters during combat, see if the current revision fixes it please.

We have Recount and Skada, but they both behave more like a raid analyzer than a simple, pure damagemeter. What i would like to see is a ''reincarnation'' of Violation or a very similar type of damagemeter (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info14412-FiendDamageMeters.html#info is also a Violation look-a-like, but also outdated and no longer maintained unfortunately).

If you are happy with Skada, you can just disable all but the Damage module. It will not track (collect combat log events) for anything else then. If it is still too much you could make a stripped-down version of the Damage module, removing the bits you do not want.

There are 2 lines side by side, nUI_skada1 & nUI_skada2. I want only one line to show and to show only the damage I produce on the target, then return to threat after the fight. The line I want is the only line in there and it will reach all the way across the window. And yes I have the profile set for all of my 7 characters individually. But the situation is the same with each. I delete the second line nUI_skada2, and then set the first one like I want it. But upon logging in and out the settings change and the second line is always readded to the window, side by side with the first line. So I have to redelete the second line and reset the settings. And just have the one line again.

This is a feature of nUI, which has built-in support for Skada. I do not know if there is way around it. You are probably better off asking in the nUI support forums on wowinterface.

I would like to know how to have just one line to show just my toon in the panel. If I log out to another toon and come back I have to reset the settings on the meter. How can I lock my selection in there with out having to reset it each time I open my toon? For example there are 2 lines to start with (skada 1 and skada 2) I only want skada 1 to show and nothing else. Anyone know how I can do this?

Not quite sure I follow you. If you have problems with different characters sharing Skada settings you can set different Profiles for them.

    1) You can use PLAYER_ENTER_COMBAT in addition to PLAYER_REGEN_DISABLED to detect a starting combat.

    2) Do you have a mechanism (or plans) for synchronising data between Skada clients? I'd like to adapt a module which has to share data because you can't determine personal (defensive) stats from other players.

    3) How should I add localisation data into a seperate module?

Thanks for the good work and code ;)

    1) I suppose so. According to wowwiki it is fired when auto-attack is turned on though, which you do not need to enter combat to do.

    2) No, there is no synchronization in Skada currently, or any plans for it.

    3) In whatever way you fancy. :)
