Would still like 'stack size' as a secondary trigger condition.

Being able to trigger something when deadly poison is useless without being able to filter how many applications are up.

    edit:

Maybe I'm blind, but I see no 'power gain' trigger either. There are percentage based ones, but not ones just fire when you gain x power (want one for combat potency (no buff, just a 'you gain 15 energy') for example).

I don't see why everyone is on my ass about SUGGESTING it be taken over. You people are all so uptight. "Oh no he suggested an addon get updated that can already be done with 4 other addons! We must completely crush his opinion into the ground!" Honestly, there is absolutely no reason to be so damn hostile about it. God forbid someone come here with ideas or anything.

Well, I think the replies are not as positive as you expect because NECB is the opposite of the addons you find under the Ace framework. It's something that tries to shoot a lot of birds with the same stone, whereas the addons around here are mostly following the UNIX philosophy, of tools that do one job and do it well. This is the reason why there are Ace addons providing similar functionality as NECB components, but nothing that ressembles NECB as a whole. At least that's what I make of from reading this forum for well over a year now.

Alternatively, from your post I understand your biggest issue is having all the bars under the same anchor. Why not trying to make an addon that appends, for example, Chronometer bars to Antagonist bars, Incubator bars to Chronometer bars, and so on? I don't think that's a big challenge, and it provides the core functionality you need. Even having a unified configuration for all of them, in terms of bar appearance, should be easy enough, provided you won't mess with individual configs.

I've tried it, but the issue is with my limited knowledge of LUA getting one anchor to work for both without them overlapping was very difficult.

A LONG time ago (6+ months) I had made the suggestion for the candy bar lib to be able to override positions, but never heard from anything.

And to answer the other person above you, NECB isn't the opposite of what Ace does, it's EXACTLY what ace does. Take a look at fubar, how is NECB any different than that but with bars instead of plugins? It isn't. It's just in it's current form, self contained. I fail to see how making a generic 'fubar for timers' is against ace's 'ideals' Why not take all the options of all the bars and just make them uniform. It'd probably be a nice change to candybar, but the retroactive effects of that would probably break quite a few mods (hence why I suggested NECB just be taken over in the first place, rather than make a change to a library that everyone uses).

I simply do not have the LUA experience to take on such a project, but I also don't see why its suggestion is such a bad thing.

I don't see why you couldn't just make an addon (similar to fubar) that made an arbitrary amount of anchors, and then allowed you to attach bar generation plugins to them. Would get you all of the options of NECB, all of the ace addons that currently do some of the features, and much more customization in regards as to what is actually running.

Just want HoTs and long term cooldowns? Only run those two plugins.

But apparently no one in this thread wants to even consider the possibility in favor of instead just telling me to use 3 other addons that don't do everything I want.

Remember that necb was just a "fan update "of ecb in the beginning.

If you really want buffs, debuffs and cooldowns in the same big huge list on the same anchor you could update the mod yourself for breaking changes.

If I had the time to learn LUA, yes.

NECB is hardly bloated for the amount of information it gives, all of which is helpful in PvP if you don't like it then use the mods that do provide only what you want or disable the features you don't like in NECB.
Could you maybe read the original post next time?

NECB is being discontinued, I WANT to use NECB but it's going to get broken soon (2.4+ or whenever they decide to implement the unique reporting identifiers mentioned in the QA of the UI panel from blizzcon).

2.2 isn't even out yet and likely has another 1-2 months to go, then you have another 2-4 months for 2.3 and then another 2-4 for 2.4 best case you have 6 months before it's broken.

Remember, just because an author quit doesn't mean a mod is useless instantly and until more information is known it's entirely possible that the requirements to make it work with 2.4 are minor. You're better off getting whats missing made rather then replicating the entire thing if you want to ditch it that badly.
Mods without active support degrade over time, it's not something I want to see happen. The thread was made simply to suggest someone think about picking it up and doing something similar.

Just because it will be fine for a few months doesn't mean it will stay that way, and I'd rather have something to turn to when it DOES break, rather than have to deal with 3 or 4 anchors worth of bars.

And to get everything necb does, I need 3 separate addons, none of which work as well as necb, and clutter my screen.

At MOST I've seen maybe 6-7 bars on necb at any given time. That's much more preferable to 2-3 bars in 3 locations on my screen.

The whole point of necb is to give you ONE spot to look, why would I want to defeat the entire purpose of that by splitting everything everywhere.

Also, bloat is EASILY overcome by simply using plugin style coding. They don't have to run the plugins that they don't want.

    Formerly: Natur's EnemyCastbar Replacement?

Let me scrap the original request then and turn this into something more generic.

    Generic Timer Addon

Feature: Arbitrary placement of arbitrary number of 'bar groups' A bar group being defined as a plugin that generates bars for a specific given purpose.

Example: HoT Bar group (shows timer bars for active HoTs).

Placement of the plugins would be controlled by anchors (ie. all plugins must be anchored in order to work). Multiple plugins can be anchored to one anchor, and can either be sorted by 'time left' or 'time created' and either have all bars on an anchor treated as one group, or have them grouped by the plugin that made them (ie all of the hot timers grouped up and sorted, then all of the dot timers grouped up and sorted, or all of them intermingled and sorted).

    Think fubar, but with timers.

Plugins that should be made available.

HoTs - All HoTs you cast.
DoTs - All DoTs you cast.

Buffs - Duration of Buffs you cast (option to exclude buffs that don't last x long, and only show buffs with x time left)
Debuffs - Duration of Debuffs you cast (option to exclude debuffs that don't last x long. Should show stack size as well)

Cooldowns - Duration of your cooldowns (option to exclude cooldowns that don't last x long, and only show cooldowns with x time left)

EnemyCooldowns - Duration of enemy cooldowns (option to exclude cooldowns that don't last x long).

EnemyBuffs - Duration of enemy buffs ie. PW:S, BoP, etc. (option to exclude buffs that don't last x long).

Trash Timers - Duration of time before trash respawns (option to exclude timers that don't last x long).

I'm sure I'm missing some, but you get the idea.

    Original Suggestion:
Natur is dropping support for his mod (and wow all together) starting 2.2

A LOT of people use this addon, and it has no direct ace counterpart (you can replicate it with 2 or 3 addons, but they're all on different anchors, and parts of NECB are still missing).

Propose someone either pick up support for it, or start a new mod with the same feature list.

    Big features:
Long term unit cooldowns (combat rez, ice block, lay on hands, etc.) saved between targets (so they show up if you target someone else then the first person again.)

Short term unit cooldowns and short term unit (de)buffs (bubble, iceblock, etc.)

CC timers (fear, sheep, hibernate, etc.)

    HoT tracking
    DoT tracking

    Stun tracking

    Diminishing Return timers

Multiple unit tracking through use of target, focus, and unit name.

    Trash timers

I'm probably missing a few things as well.

Again, the biggest thing here is the ability for one addon to do all of this, and with the ability to put it all on one anchor.

Is there a way to get the color of the damage of certain events to be the color of the event even with damage type color on?

IE. I want my special attacks to be yellow, but my auto attacks to be white. I can get the ability names yellow, but the damage is always white due to the type color. Maybe just a checkbox for 'override damage type color' would work, or just another color for special physical attacks.

    edit:
Another question. How do I get a trigger to go off on only a certain stack size?

IE. I want to set up 5 triggers 1 for each stack level of deadly poison. Also, is there a way to make it pick up only my debuffs for certain triggers, but everyones debuff for others?

Drena, thanks that's some debug code that snuck through. Will remove it tonight.

next96, thanks will add it tonight

Marroc, I'll look into adding that, but you could still do it with a custom event now, i.e. "is afflicted by Stormstrike"...Also adding where you could assign an icon to a custom event.
TY. Just think doing it by debuff would be safer (especially for things like stromstrike where they get eaten a lot, would make a fade event for it easier anyway).

It really shouldn't be too hard... should just be an if check on if the timeleft value is not nil.

For some reason Cartographer_Herbalism duplicates nodes even if I'm directly on top of the other node (this doesn't happen with mining).

Also, Cartographer_Mining wasn't marking new mithril/thorium nodes and actually removed the node from the list when I mined it (this was a while ago, and may have been fixed already).

Just committed a bunch of beta changes for both SCT and SCTD. This is one of the few times I do this, so be careful about losing your custom events.

    SCT
    - Added optional EavesDrop style spell icons.
    - Added person killed to killing blows
    - Added damage filter
    - Custom Target Debuff events should now only fire from your debuffs
    - Made all font sizes change 1 step at a time

    SCTD
    - Uses spell icons from SCT is enabled
    - Added Damage Shields as an optional event
    - Added Outgoing Damage Filter (separate from SCT's)
    - Made all font sizes change 1 step at a time

May want to make the debuff filter thing optional on a per custom event basis however.

I have events that fire for stuff that I'm not doing (ie. stormstrike being put on my target, etc.)

I asked about this a couple pages ago, but it seems to have gotten slipped over...

Is there any chance of a new event option in SCT_Custom_Events for just YOUR debuffs on a target?

As a rogue it's really helpful to see things like deadly poison charges showing up in SCT, which was doable relatively easily, but of course this breaks the second there is more than one rogue.

Well, I shouldn't say breaks... It works fine, but it generates messages that aren't related to my debuff.

Ie. You'll get something like this:

    Deadly 1
    Deadly 2
    Deadly 1
    Deadly 3
    Deadly 4
    Deadly 2
    etc.

Since the deadly poison message is "Mob Gains Deadly Poison..." there is no originator of the spell, and as such any deadly poison message triggers my event (even if I use the debuff on mob type).

If it isn't too much trouble, it'd be really handy to simply have another (or possibly an option on the original) debuff filter type in the custom events file that simply checks debuffs on the mob to see if they have any time left on them (thus proving the dot was yours because you cannot get information on other peoples debuffs).

ok so line 11 is enabled (Mace Stun) yet it doesn't show up

If i copy and paste line 11 and make it line 19 it works.

so basically I have to have the same line twice for it to work.

    any ideas?

You already have an element [11] defined someplace else.
