    CKKnight is just a freaking god. Is there anything that he can't do?!?

    Write a non bloated successor to Ace2

    I don't care how well written a mod is code wise, if it doesn't do what the end users want in a straight forward way then all that code doesn't matter.

    Edit: Amazing, I didn't realize Ace2 and LUA would be so easy to use! I've already completed an addon that does exactly what I need. In fact, it wouldn't even need Ace2 except that AceEvent makes ScheduleRepeatingEvent so easy to implement. If I had any clue how to do this in LUA, my little 6-line addon wouldn't need Ace2 at all!

    local f = CreateFrame("Frame")
    f.nextUpdate = 30 (seconds)

    f:SetScript("OnUpdate", function(self, elapsed)
      if(self.nextUpdate < 0) then
        self.nextUpdate = 30
        doStuff()
      else
        self.nextUpdate = self.nextUpdate - elapsed
      end
    end)

    f:Hide() will turn it off, and f:Show() will turn it back on

    Click2Cast was made to replace the old AceHeal by Kyahx for the Ace2 framework, it was made to be lightweight and non-intrusive, a smaller version of Clique, with less features and to be available through any updater from the wowace.com site.

    I always thought that Clique was a good example of how to develop a non intrusive interface :P

    posted a message on Dongle and Ace, a friendly coexistance.
    Having the -Ace2- tag was meaningful, insofar as it showed me (the user) where I could get updates for the mod, and maybe find some community discussion about it.

    For that purpose, I think it would be more useful to stick a website entry in the toc.

    This is the first I've heard of Dongle as well. I looked over the API and it seems very similar to what you get mixing AceAddon,AceDB,AceEvent etc. I don't see what's so compelling about Dongle.

    What makes Dongle compelling is you get the majority of the functionality from those libraries in a much smaller package than using the equivalent libraries in Ace2.

    Assuming you need the naming conventions for the Bongos2 stuff:
    ClassButtons: BongosClassButton
    ActionButtons: BongosActionButton
    Pet Buttons: PetActionButton

    posted a message on Omnibus alternative..?
    TinyPad is the only mod I know of that might have the functionality you're looking for.

    After doing several tests using popular non-Ace2 addons against similar Ace2 addons, I've seen that Ace2 addons generally use FAR less memory and are generally far more efficient overall than non-Ace2. What Ace2 does is take functions that would normally be repeated over and over and simplify it to have a single library handle these, thus making the general process faster and cleaner. Ace2 DOES do a better, cleaner, faster and more efficient job than non-Ace2 alternatives. If you refuse to believe this, then get the fuck off these forums.

    If that were the case, then I'd probably have ace'd my addons by now. Please, do not make generalizations.

    I try forcing myself to use vim every now and then, but I'm far too used to using the mouse to do things. So, its Notepad++ for me.

    atm the current bongos wont let you relocate it's tooltips. It is really annoying and the sole reason I am looking for alternatives

    Bartender and Bongos have essentially identical action button tooltip code. One of these days I need to take a look at the repositioning function that tinytip and the like call to see what exactly is going wrong.

    And uhh, I prefer Bongos mostly because I like sticky bars and clamped to screen.

    On the other hand Ludwig is Ace2.

    Correction:
    On the other hand Ludwig is not Ace2.

    Ludwig is an item link and sell value database, and only that.

    As i understand the way Bongos does the Page switching, it will not work in combat, and thats what i wanted to avoid.
    Being on the wrong page and entering combat is teh suck. You are basicly helpless then.

    I need to figure out paging with SecureTemplates at some point. Will probably look at it later today when i get home, or at least this week.

    Page switching works in combat, at least as long as you use the SecureStateDriver. Its in Secure Templates.lua I plan on checking and seeing if its possible to write my own pager using a state header that changes state on mouseclicks, but I'm not absolutely sure its possible yet.

    I'll also second that Cogsbar has decent documentation on how to use the stateheader :)
