I'm just curious why Bartender3 was abandoned, since it looks like BT4 is a total rewrite... BT4 doesn't have enough of the features of BT3 for me to make the jump, but BT3 has a critical bug that I can't figure out... (bar 1 randomly switching with another bar, must fully logout to fix)

    Elkano,

On my druid I have a group set up to show me druid-related debuffs on my target. These debuffs are whitelisted to include Bash, Demoralizing Roar, Demoralizing Shout, Faerie Fire, Faerie Fire (Feral), Feral Charge Effect, Lacerate, Maim, Mangle (Bear), Mangle (Cat), Pounce Bleed, and Rip. All of them work flawlessly except for Mangle. About 40% of the time, Mangle debuffs (from both forms) will simply stop displaying. If I add an unfiltered debuff display to, say, my target frame, I can see that Mangle is indeed active on the target. This seems to be a general issue with debuff filtering addons, as the Quartz "buff timers" did the same thing. Any ideas?

Mangle is bugged. You're used to seeing Mangle(Cat) and Mangle(Bear), but occasionally, there is a third form of mangle that is just "Mangle". The next time you catch this bug happen, check your whitelist availability for the plain "Mangle" and add it to the whitelist. You seem to be using this feature exactly the same way I am. Kudos for knowing to add Demo Shout(warrior) to your list ;)

Bingo. thanks :) that takes a load off my mind about ArcHud, which I love. If I try to play without it, I find myself feeling blind.

Is this addon no longer being updated?

I noticed (by using Performance-Fu with CPU profiling turned on) that ArcHUD is using the MOST CPU time of all of my addons. What's up with that? Isn't most of what it does event based?

Could we possibly get an update on the fubar panel rank sorting? Still sorts based on location.
    Thanks

This version of MouseLook does what you think it does. :) I guess Trimble has taken the opposite approach so to speak.
Yeah, I should have made it clear above in my comment that I wrote the OTHER version of mouselook, and my comment was not intended to describe how THIS(thread) version of mouselook works.

Btw, the best mouselook-mode I've seen in a game was the one in Star Wars Galaxies.
Oh wow, I HATED that mode. I ended up reducing the size of the "reticle" to the point that it always stayed in the center of the screen, and the camera freely looked around at all times. It just felt sluggish to not have free camera all the time.

Ok, what I am about to say is based on the assumption that you want to start this mouselook thing whenever you are over unit frame, and you want to use a mouse button to do it.

Sounds backwards to me... I perfer mouselook to be always on, unless I hold down a button to get my pointer back. the button held down to get the pointer is a momentary toggle, and currently, I like it on the thumb button of my mouse. (used to be the 'e' key, right next to wasd.)

While I'm holding that button down, I want the mouse buttons to do what they usually do, but while mouselook lock is engaged, I want my buttons to provide forward and backward movement.

My center mousebutton (wheel) is reserved for Vent :P

This is how MY version of mouselook works.

My version is still working as it always has. I keep my momentary button set to 'e' and my mouse's thumb button set to emulate 'e'. Works like a charm.

Another option is to merge the two ;)

I've often thought about ACE'ing my mouselook so that it would function with standby and load-on-demand properly.

I think most of our users, however, are the type of people who need it ALWAYS on.

I would like to ask - I notice you have keybinds for Toggle, and one for engage and a separate one for disengage... what is the usage for the separate engage and disengage keybinds? My version has the same toggle, but it also includes a "momentary" button that I hold down for a pointer (assigned to my mouse thumb button) and let go of to return to mouselook. The momentary button is the most used feature of my addon, followed closely by the right-click forward and left-click backward movement.

When TBC came out (2.0), I had to work with Slouken to get a special feature put in that allows the dynamic remapping the the mousebuttons during combat. Usually, when combat it active, you cannot change any keybinds programmatically, but he put in functions to allow us to pre-define keybinds to change to when engaging and disengaging mouselook. Very nice :)

    Hi there! :)

Tbh I don't think it ought be necessary for any of us to change the name. There is no reason people would want to have both installed. I don't use updaters myself. So I'm not completely sure what you can or cannot do with them. A while back I did use the Cosmos updater. That one had an option to ignore specific addons. All updaters really ought to have this option.

It's not just an issue with two addons having the same name. What if you want to manage some addons yourself? Perhaps because the version on the wowace SVN is too unstable. Would that be impossible too?

The problem is that the updater saw a folder in my addons called "MouseLook" and assumed it was yours. When I did the Update All Addons button, it destroyed my addon and replaced it with yours without any kind of warning. Users who are still using mine might also download the updater and hit update with no warning that they are going to me changed from my addon to yours, and when they log into the game, their keybinds will be gone, and they won't understand why. I believe there is an option to have WowAceUpdater ignore it, but the problem is the no-warning thing.

This addon is brand new. So it's not the same addon. :) I did consider that the name had probably been used before. I found a very old addon by the same name, but it had not been updated in about two years. I decided to go with the name MouseLook anyway since it's the most obvious name and because it is not likely that you would want two addons installed that both handle mouse-look mode - they would most likely conflict.

Could you throw me a link to the old addon that have the features you are asking for? Might make it a bit easier for me to see what you are requesting and perhaps how to solve it. :)

    Hi!

I wrote the older MouseLook. I hasn't been updated since version 2.0 because it really hasn't needed any update. Occasionally I get emails asking to update the TOC, and I send out copies for those people, but I have been too lazy to update the whole thing since it simply works with use-out-of-date mods checked.

The WowAceUpdater does indeed try to crush my version of MouseLook and replace it with yours - I just played with the updater for the first time today. Ordinarily, I'd say it shouldn't be a problem with 2 mods with the same name, but due to the existance of the updater, I'm thinking one of us needs to change our mods name ;) At this point, it would probably be easier for me to re-release under a new name.

Autobuffers can be a liability if you're facing a dispelling class like a priest or a shaman.

I plan to revisit the code for BuffBot at some point, and will possibly be bringing it to ACE after I finish my current project. But, I won't be making it do anything automatic.

posted a message on What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks Rowne :)

My approach to this would be to have the unit object request UNIT_HEALTH messages from my event distributor when the arg1 is the unit object's self.PartyID. The unit object would maintain it's own knowledge of it's current health based on the events it receives.

Then, when I want to ask it for it's health percent, I would call math.floor(unit:HealthPercent()) which would probably be implemented something like this:

    function unit:HealthPercent()
    return self.health / self.maxHealth * 100
    end

One thing to consider with trying to find a unit's health percent is that if the unit is NOT in your party or raid, then UnitHealth() already returns the health percent, not the absolute health. However, since UnitHealthMax() always returns 100 when the unit is NOT in your party or raid, then the math still works out ok ;)
