Great stuff Tekkub. I use quite a lot of your addons. Now another one is added to the list.

Say it takes e.g. 2 mouse clicks for every update. Even updating 100 or 200 addons should only be a matter of a few minutes worth of clicking. I can live with that from a free updater. Especially considering updating that many addons will be an extraordinary event. If clicking is a nuisance, well, you can still get the paid account. Personally I find this a lesser issue. I'm just hoping for a fix to the nolib downloads before patch day or I will end up having to download manually. The horror!

As embedded libs are the default and only option in the curse client atm, it would be nice to have a lib embedded version as the latest release version on curse. This should ensure the CC hands out the correct version.

    Kaelten,
Could the 'include betas in upgrading' option be addon specific? I would not want to run all my addons in a beta state at the same time.

So my only question was how to let Curseclient work properly so it doesn't break my interface anymore.

    1) Remove/backup all addons and start with an empty addon folder.
    2) Search Curse for the addons you want and let the CC install them.

I also started out breaking my interface completely by trying to 'update' to using the CC. After a clean start it has worked without error on my end. I use addons from WoWI as well. Auto updating needs to be toggled off by right clicking those if they appear in the CC. You might then need to redownload from the other source depending on your settings.

Two things are badly missing imo. The ability to allow an addon to update to beta versions as right now it will download releases even though they are years old. The ability to distinguish between nolib and regular versions as right now it just downloads whichever version was uploaded later.

Many addons are uploaded with regular and nolib versions. Depending on the order of upload the CC will select the latest. This seems a bit random and unintentional. Would more release types for nolib versions be needed?

    kolie,
    Thank you for the answers.

Atm the latest release version of FuBar_GuildFu is dated 2007-03-05. I would like to install the latest beta instead dated recently, but using CC it will only install the release version. Is the CC not supposed to be able to download betas? If so, is this a bug or a yet un-implemented feature?

    Thanks,

    Suggestion:
What I gather from previous posts is that the option "Reinstall New Addons" means whether to actually install the new version of updated addons. If this assumption is correct I believe the naming could possibly be more to the point. Something like 'Apply Updates to Addons' or just 'Apply Updates' or 'Install Updates'. To me, "Reinstall New Addons" made little sense. if addons were "reinstalled" they could not be "new" at the same time. Reinstalling is something you do with software which has been installed at least once, not when patching/updating imo.

    Confused user, now less confused.

    1) Switch from WITHOUT Externals to WITH Externals
    2) Delete all External/Libs folders
    3) Let Curse Client do its thing upon first use

At the moment we are all offered a premium subscription trial which results in the updater automatically downloading updates for all addons. If you "let Curse Client do its thing" it will guess at what addons you have installed and update them to the newest available addon at Curse which matches the guess. This results in addons being 'upgraded' a few years into the past and some changed into completely different addons like Panda being changed from this to this in my case.
There are a lot of workarounds but they only work if you don't do as I did and just accept the scan. I guess the easiest solution is to not allow CC to do the scan.

    lilsparky,

I have been using the trunk version up untill now but anxiously following this thread. Are you planning on releasing a beta or release version at some point? I can't decide when to take the jump.

Thank you for improving on a great addon.

Cart_QuestObjectives records quest item drops and I'm guessing in a similar fashion to how tradeskill nodes are recorded by other addons. An included database would be nice but I'd put it low on the wish list as I'm sure a download would pop up soon after the release of a possible HandyNotes_Quests.

Edit: I was a bit incomplete in my description of Cart_QO. It notes quest kills and other things as well, not only quest item drops.

Has anyone made or is currently making a quest objective note addon? I noticed some requests for it a few months back in this thread but I've not found any recent info.
