posted a message on Prat 3.0 Chat Mod Framework
I recently switched to Prat from Chatter after being told repeatedly that my chatlinks looked like spam -- the only thing that kept me from switching earlier was the "emphasize self" option, which highlights your name in red with arrows pointing at it.

Popup Message works perfectly fine to catch my attention, but I tend to afk or alttab a lot and end up completely missing what people say to me in guild chat and private channels. The emphasize option made it easy to just scroll up to look for any bits of red and try to pick up the thread of the conversation from there, which I find that I really miss.

Can I have some help in making this into a module for Prat? I tried just copy&pasting directly into PlayerNames.lua which is where Chatter had it, but unfortunately code doesn't seem work that way =\

local function changeName(msgHeader, name, msgCnt, displayName, msgBody)
        if name ~= player then
            if emphasizeSelfInText then
                msgBody = msgBody:gsub("("..player..")" , "|cffffff00>|r%1|cffffff00<|r"):gsub("("..player:lower()..")" , "|cffffff00>|r%1|cffffff00<|r")
            end
            if colorSelfInText then
                msgBody = msgBody:gsub("("..player..")" , "|cffff0000%1|r"):gsub("("..player:lower()..")" , "|cffff0000%1|r")
            end
        end
return ("|Hplayer:%s%s|h%s%s%s|h%s"):format(name, msgCnt, leftBracket, names[name], rightBracket, msgBody)
    end

I'm not sure why this is, but lately I've been seeing "streak of $s!" instead of (for example) "streak of 5." I had a problem with seeing $v instead of the victim's name until I retyped the kill message, but retyping doesn't seem to fix the streak number. No errors or anything, though.

To be fair, it's the European players that are having trouble getting in WAR.. Definitely a shame though, PW+ & OB have been enjoyable and it sucks that you guys can't try it out just because the company handling WAR in Europe fails.

I'll never understand why people waste screen space showing static information like spell damage or haste rating. How hard is it to press "C" (or F6, or whatever you have bound to open your character sheet) to see these stats?

Screen space isn't really a problem when you're running at 1920x1150 like Stan is.. even with 1680x1050, you still have plenty of room (unless you're going for 1-inch-tall unit frames or 18pt font). It's just quicker/more efficient to glance at a corner than to hit C and drag your mouse over to check your Frost damage or fiddle with the dropdown to check your resilience when all you wanted to see was if you switched to PvP gear properly after that raid.

Personally I'll never understand how people get by with just one (or none altogether!) action bar and a 2 or 3 line chat window. Wouldn't you have to keep scrolling up to see what you missed?!

    lord no.

It never had any place in necb...

Let's try and do this the ace way please and keep things simple and concise. As far as I'm concerned the only things I'd want to see out of this addon are self buff tracking, debuff tracking, crowd control tracking, long term cooldown tracking on other players, casting bars (optional), and maybe (MAYBE) respawn timers. Everything outside of that doesn't fit within the scope of a "timer tracking addon" Killing blow sounds should be a seperate smaller addon with no dependency on any other addon. It's shit like the killing blow sounds that made necb so bloated and memory intensive.

Anyway, to durcyn, when you get to writing options could you try and keep it as configurable as possible (options to show/not show each category of bar, options to control what's in each category, possibly add custom bars, single anchor or multiple anchors, etc.) Once this gets a little bit more developed I'll be testing it as well :P

Also just want to thank you for picking up the project because a simple light-weight cooldown tracking addon is sorely needed (necb being broken/bloated, antagonist and chonometer being too limited, etc).

Am I misunderstanding something? I thought an Antagonist/NECB replacement would primarily be concerned with hostile casts/buffs and such, not self buff/debuff or cooldown tracking. As long as we're throwing opinions out there I'd say self buff and debuff tracking is outside the scope of an addon that's described as a replacement for addons designed to keep tabs on the enemy.

what an interesting coincidence, because I'd be killing myself immediately after.

    LOL.

Not even as an optional play-sound-when-X happens kind of thing? Like "<obnoxious noise goes off> Oh that priest popped PI & PS, time to dispel."

    Looks fine from my point

Sorry for the late reply, was still getting the no-multiple-modifiers thing last night with the copy of BT4 I had installed, but I updated this morning and deleted BT4's & BT3's saved variables files and it's fine now. Thanks!

About keyBound.. I can't seem to bind keys with multiple modifiers. For example with BT3 I had Bar 6 Button 3 bound as CTRL-SHIFT-F, which was the keystroke assignment I gave to mouse button 6 (a really roundabout way to do clickcasting, I know). With BT4 though I seem to get stuck with just CTRL-F, which is another spell altogether.

Since I didn't see many others mentioning this issue, I thought I'd pipe in with a ditto. Some names remain grey after a /who, and I have to /friend then remove them from my friends list to get the name highlighting to "take". I also see :70 after some, but not all, level 70's names even with "Exclude Level 70s" checked. Fairly minor bug, but it'd be nice to see this fixed. :)

I noticed that if you do a quick /who name or shift click, the name remains gray. However if you actually open the who window (the tab next to the friends list when you open the social pane) to search for the name, the class coloring sticks.

Would it be possible to be able to change say, whispers, to, yells, etc. like channel names? And option to have chat not fade at all?

Also, I'm not sure if this is intended, but with Interface>Social>Lock Chat Settings checked, the copy text button doesn't show.

No offense, but what the heck are you talking about?

Right now: 19 (***NINETEEN***) quests all in one category

Suggesting: 19 quests in four categories

    - 0 quests Added.
    - 0 quests Removed.
    - 0 quests Modified.

    Simply a Fubar change.

    -----

    Edit:

I think I see your confusion. You think I meant that Dailies should track *BOTH* the quests during a phase and after the phase is completed. This is NOT what I meant. I simply meant split up the "Shattered Sun Offensive" group.

I'm not sure how I could be confused since I was just going by what you wrote, which was "split up by phase".. These quests, since they are the final versions, belong to no phases. As you never mentioned what your idea of "by phase" meant, and haven't clarified how the SSO quests would be split up into four categories -- or even what these four categories are, for that matter -- I feel like my post stands.

For example, where and under what category would The Air Strikes Must Continue fall? Would it be put under "Phase 2," when the original bombing quest became available, or would it be under "Phase 3," when this final version replaced it?

Btw I'm totally assuming by "split up by phase" and "19 quests in four categories," you meant category1 = Phase 1, category2 = Phase 2, etc. since you haven't said otherwise.

ETA: Or, would your "19 quests in four categories" mean what a couple of us suggested.. :p

    - Shattered Sun Offensive [0/19]
    - Hellfire Peninsula [0/2]
    Blast the Gateway
    Blood for Blood
    - Isle of Quel'Danas [0/14]
    Arm the Wards!
    Atawhateverwhatever
    etc

Man, I really wish all 17 quests were split up by phase hehe

I don't D: These different phases are based on how fast your server progresses.. Can you imagine completing Phase 4 and still running around trying to track Phase 2 quests because Fritos has to support it for people on slow servers?

Besides, a little bit of reading tells you what quests are the permanent versions of what, and it doesn't take much effort to remember "hey I already killed nagas for keys today" until Phase 3 is over & the final quest gets tracked.

The splitting by where the quest is obtained makes more sense to me than the by phase thing, at least with location it makes it easier to realize "Hey I forgot to get the mana cells quest, better pick it up before I start farming for my phasing device" (true story, btw.. I farmed for an hour before realizing I didn't have the quest).

I have a few SSO dailies that aren't being tracked.

    Intercepting the Reinforcements. 7g59s reward
    Making Ready 11g99s
    Taking the Harbor 11g99s

Only final dailies are tracked, final meaning they'll always be in game. The ones you listed are only there until Phase 3 is completed, they'll be replaced by Keeping the Enemy at Bay, Don't Stop Now..., and Crush the Dawnblade, respectively.

    posted a message on Antagonist
So I'm getting back into playing WoW and updated everything that could be updated.

Then I proceeded to start a war on the Isle of Quel'Danas because some mage's Frostbolt popped up in Antagonist, to which I responded by pwning the crap off his face. I didn't get to check the combat log til after the horde retaliated and I realized he wasn't casting at me at all... Oops. Needless to say dailies hasn't been going very smoothly the past few hours -- but whatever, pvp on a pvp server and all that.

So I guess this is just to ask, I saw that "Self-Relevant" is listed under cruft that's been totally clobbered, but I'm not sure if that means it's broken by the patch, or if it's been tossed out and will never darken Antagonist's doorstep again?
