    The API doesn't even begin to offer this sort of functionality. You should post the request on the official rift forum so that Zorba (Rift guy in charge of API/addons) can tell you if they can add this to the API or the base client code.

    A simple request to have the default client allow typing of UTF-8 characters is surely far better than hacking about with addons?

    Ok that managed to create a directory and the packager seems to have worked its magic. Odd that I can't do that via svn though.

    Many thanks for your assistance.

    can you use the web interface to tag ?

    Never having used the web interface to do any form of file manipulation I'm really not sure.

    I can visit the repository at http://www.wowace.com/addons/questitem/repositories/mainline/ and there is an option to "Tag Repository" but this doesn't seem to actually do anything and I have no idea if this is what you meant or not.

    Ok Blizzcon well out of the way now.

    Could some kind admin please grant me write access to my project, as I am still getting the access denied message and people are posting messages on the addon page saying they like the addon but its broken for patch 4.0.1. Rather than having others create fan update addons I'd like to fix it and indeed I've had a working fix for the last month but been unable to release it.

    So could you please check my permissions and grant me write access to

    svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/questitem/mainline/tags

    I have write access to

    svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/questitem/mainline/trunk but not to /tags so there is some form of access bug here.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    posted a message on Engineering Enchants
    Patch 4.0.1 has changed how the engineering enchants work. They seem to no longer share the enchantID part of an itemLink this means that you can enchant gear with a regular enchant from an enchanter then add an engineering enchant eg: hyperspeed accelerators on gloves.

    However it also means that my addon that inspected the itemLink and checked if you had the enchant no longer works.

    Does anyone know what the new method is to determine if engineering gloves/cloak enchants are active.

    The old

    local slotLink = GetInventoryItemLink("player", slotid)
    local itemName, itemString, _, _, _, _, itemSubType = GetItemInfo(slotLink)
    local _, itemID, enchantID = strsplit(":", itemString)

    was fairly straightforward however this no longer works for slot 10 (gloves), 15 (cloak) if you have both regular and engineering enchants active.

    Any ideas?

    Could it be related to the fact that the two addons I've a problem with were both created in the wowace days and their project page is on wowace. Whereas all my other projects are on curseforge.com as their project page.

    Its getting quite frustrating as I cannot currently release a fix for two of my addons. Fingers crossed once the madness of the rushing around for Blizzcon dies down someone might be able to look at the server permissions and grant me write access to the tags folder.

    Many thanks for your continued assistance. I tried the right click and verified the URL to ensure it was the development path and going to tags/vX.XX and I still get the access denied error.

    So to me it seems relatively clear that the server, for whatever reason, has different permissions set for the trunk and the tags directories.

    In case it is important the two projects in question are on svn.WOWACE.com and not svn.curseforge.com

    No I've not been in the IT game for 21 years not to actually try something someone suggests :) I just forgot to report the error explicitly.

    I tried it, the result is "Path 'tags' already exists".

    So as I say the path is there I can READ its contents I cannot WRITE to the path. So something has updated the server permissions to deny me write access to the existing folder.

    The tags folder exists and I've released plenty of versions in the past. However since its been many months since this particular addon needed a change it seems that the tags folder has become locked and I have no write access to the tags folder

    ie: svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/minimapcoords/mainline/trunk I have full access to
    svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/minimapcoords/mainline/tags I'm denied access to. None of the solutions using TortoiseSVN suggested above help as I already have a tags directory so I don't need to use a copy command its just that I've now been denied access to that directory.

    Addons where I've made plenty of updates over the months I can still branch/tag a new release its only 2 addons I have that I've not released new versions for ages.

    So my question remains how to I regain write access to that tags directory?

    Edit: Ah ok so it might be some permissions thing locking out authors from addons not updated for a while. I'm happy to wait until after Blizzcon as I appreciate its a REALLY busy time for you guys.

    No I didn't quite express myself correctly.

    I CAN commit changes, and I do use the development URL. However when I try to branch a new tag so that the packager can update the site it gives "access denied".

    eg: branching svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/minimapcoords/mainline/trunk

    to

    svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/minimapcoords/mainline/tags/v4.0

    gives access denied.

    Whereas simply committing code to

    svn://pericles@svn.wowace.com/wow/minimapcoords/mainline/trunk works just fine.

    I have several addons I author. One that has been very stable for the whole of Wrath now needs a slight tweak for patch 4.0.1 however I'm getting an access denied message when trying to do a svn branch to release a new version.

    Is there some form of timeout on addons that prevents new branches if they haven't been updated in ages? If so what process do I need to follow to re-gain access? ie: is there someone I should email to ask for svn branching access for that addon?

    posted a message on Packager changes
    Has anything changed with the packager lately. It doesn't seem to be building zips for my project http://wow.curseforge.com/projects/shockandawe/ ( http://my.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/shockandawe.aspx - on Curse)

    The last build was 25th February 2009, since then I've done a few commits and tagged a release but nothing has been build. I've checked the packager status and nothing even showing up there as failing to build.

    Where next should I check to determine the problem? Is this a server issue? BTW all my projects bar this one are wowace.com I've never been entirely sure how this one got tagged as a curseforge.com one. I'd be entirely happy if it was transferred to wowace.com if that is the problem.

    Are you sure? I was using

    local title, description, creator, type, instanceID, ownerFlag, _, weekday, month, day, year, hour, minute = CalendarGetEventInfo()
    That event is only populated when the CalendarOpenEvent(monthoffset, dayoffset, index) has been called. Does CalendarGetDayEvent( 0, 0, i ) really not require the server to have been sent a request to open the event for use? I'll have to test this when I get home from work.

    Iriel on the Blizz UI & Macro forum suggested you had to wait for the event data to be returned by the server, and that you couldn't just run through a loop.

    posted a message on Getting list of Calendar events today
    I'd like to be able to populate a simple UIDropDown with the names of the raids today. ie: something like :

    numevents = CalendarGetNumDayEvents( 0, 0)
    if ( numevents > 0 ) then
         for i = 1, numevents do
              CalendarOpenEvent( 0, 0, i )
              title  = CalendarGetEventInfo()
              -- add title to drop down for selection
         end
    end
    However I understand that CalendarOpenEvent() is more like a server request that fires an event when the server has returned the data and its safe to use CalendarGetEventInfo(). What I cannot find information on is what event fires nor any examples of how this might work.

    I'm kind of assuming it might be CALENDAR_OPEN_EVENT, but does that mean I can still loop round the events and make server requests then in the event handler populate the UIdropdown? Would something like this work?

    numevents = CalendarGetNumDayEvents( 0, 0)
    if ( numevents > 0 ) then
         for i = 1, numevents do
              CalendarOpenEvent( 0, 0, i )
         end
    end
    --Event Handler
    if ( event = "CALENDAR_OPEN_EVENT" ) then
          title  = CalendarGetEventInfo()
          -- add title to drop down for selection
    end

    I understood from the somewhat sparse documentation that CalendarOpenEvent opens a single event to be worked on however firing off multiples would perhaps flood the server and be denied? I am also assuming I'd have to do some sort of waiting until all events had been fetched however I'm worried that some might not and you end up with laggy timeouts.

    I just feel I'm missing something simple and there is probably a better approach, any suggestions?

    The aim of the addon by the way is to get the raid events for today have the user select the one they are interested in then list the members signed up for that event and their status (online/offline), user & officer note (eg: for spec notes tank/healer/dps etc), whether in raid group already etc. The aim of the addon is to make if far simpler to invite people to a raid and see the current composition vs who is still signed up but not invited or not online or declined invite etc.
