Oct 11, 2010Posted in: Ace3Quote from MisenMy OnUpdate and Event handling functions are carefully optimized.
Plus this frame rate drop only happens when the config screen is open.
I don't see any obvious overlap between anything that I am doing and anything SexyMap does, and I didn't see any issue when I installed SexyMap. The only thing the two have in common is Ace3.
link the relevant code then and I'll have a look.
Oct 11, 2010Common causes of addon-related lag:Posted in: Ace3
You have registered to an event that is constantly firing. For example in my addon I was running some hefty for loops everytime BAG_UPDATE fired...and when people were moving stacks of items into gbanks it would fire a lot...
Also if you have an "OnUpdate" script
Do you have any settings in your config that relate to the minimap position? These may be causing Sexymap to do some calculations everytime they are loaded / changed.
Oct 10, 2010Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from NeonLibraI've been able to setup a simple secure button but now I'm trying to figure out how to set an attribute (in combat) -- all initiated via a hardware event (mouse button event). Is this possible at all? Or is there even a hold on attribute modification via hardware events when in combat?
Essentially what I'm looking for... the spell attributes don't change, but I'm looking to be able to change the "target" attribute.
Yes I believe blizzard locks stuff like that down during combat.
Sep 28, 2010Sapu94 posted a message on Addon Suite for crafting / managing tradeskill items to sell on AHPosted in: Addon IdeasQuote from front243Regarding "TradeSkill Master" try to take a look at "Item Auditor" (at curse). It is not exactly what you ask for but does a lot of it.
Item Auditor is really just for keeping track of how much gold you are spending it doesn't help with crafting profitable trade skill items really. I've been developing Scroll Master for a little while now and haven't found anything else that does what Scroll Master does but for non-enchanting tradeskills (or even for enchanting).
1. Showing the profit of making every tradeskill item by calculating the cost and getting how much it's going for on the AH.
2. Allowing the user to select which items they want to make or build a list automatically based on user-settings for minimum profit.
3. Provide a totals / shopping list to the user of what mats they need.
4. Provide a simple crafting queue for crafting the items.
...all in one addon.
Sep 27, 2010Sapu94 posted a message on Addon Suite for crafting / managing tradeskill items to sell on AHSo I am the author of Scroll Master (as it says in my sig) and essentially have way more ideas than I have time for new addons (somewhat related to Scroll Master). So, I am looking for feedback or anybody who knows some lua who might be willing to help with the coding.Posted in: Addon Ideas
First off, what Scroll Master does (it's been around for about 6 months now) is essentially allows enchanters to easily figure out what enchanting scrolls are profitable to make, provides a totals list ("shopping list") and then provides a craft queue where they just have to click the name of each enchant and it'll make the scroll for them. Check out my sig for more details but that's the general overview of it.
My first idea and something that I made a very primitive alpha version of is to make an addon for canceling auctions you get undercut on. Now I know there are a lot of addons that do this already but I couldn't find any that filled the exact role I was after. It scans the AH for everything that you have 1 or more of posted and then cancels the auctions that you got undercut on IF you can re-post it and still be above a set % of Auctioneer Market Price (and a set gold amount below the next highest one).
The idea for this came from a friend of mine who pays people a % of market value (from auctioneer) for anything they COD to him. The idea is that the addon would something that auto opens mail and pays CODs of any mail where the COD is below a certain % of auctioneer's price.
RePost Master (for lack of better name)
This would essentially use the same calculations as Undercut Master but instead of canceling auctions, would post stuff from your bags automatically if you could post them for a % of Auctioneer's market value and be the cheapest on the AH.
This would be just like Scroll Master but for other tradeskills. Ontop of what Scroll Master does, it could incorporate crafting of intermediate items (such as bolts of cloth for tailoring). How this is different from something like LSW is that the user can queue up items to craft and it'll provide a shopping list as well as the other features Scroll Master has (integration with DataStore, Auctioneer, Quick Auctions 3).
Again I'm looking for feedback on these ideas as well as anybody who knows some lua who might be willing to help with the coding.
Sep 27, 2010So I've been thinking it would be useful to have a library that handles scanning of the auction house since for a lot of people (mainly people who are relatively new to addon writing) it is code that can be confusing.Posted in: Libraries
Also the more authors involved / users using it the more efficient the code could become and I think that could have great benefits for a lot of people.
I am not sure if something like this already exists or not but wasn't able to find it if it does.
Here is what I was thinking as far as APIs go:
-starts a scan for everything contained within scanList.
scanList - would contain either a list of names of items (localized of course), a list of itemIDs, or a list of itemLinks. I'm thinking itemLinks would be the best (safest) here but would welcome feedback.
-stops the scan if it's running (self explanatory I hope)
I'm not really sure what the best way to return the data from the scan would be. Some ideas I've had would be to have a function be passed as a second parameter to StartScan() and then call that function when the scan is complete with all the data as a parameter. Also I could maybe use a custom event / message to tell the "host" addon that the scan is complete and then have a seperate API function for retrieving the scan data. Also there is a lot of room for LibScanMaster to have API functions to manipulate the data (for example sort the data by buyout).
Any feedback / ideas are welcome.
Sep 27, 2010First, this is the wrong forum. Use the Ace3 forum for this type of question (a mod will prob move this thread).Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
You can't make frames non-re sizable only windows (like frames just without the status bar and some other stuff). Then just call :SetResizable(false) iirc on the window.
Sep 26, 2010Here is what I'm trying to do and I'm not sure if it can be done or not...Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
local function Hello() return "Hello World!" end local text = Hello() --where the return of hello gets assigned to text print(text)
I know for this example what I am doing is a HORRIBLE way of doing it and print(Hello()) would work but assume that I want to store the 'text' variable for a while and then manipulate it later.
Sep 23, 2010Version 4.1 is up and running. Also I'm going to start using the ticket tracker on curseforge. Errors and suggestions should go there as described in the above post.Posted in: General AddOns
Also, I will be using the ticket tracker to get feedback on features I am currently working on. So, please provide feedback on those tickets and / or make sure I haven't already made a ticket for your suggestion before you make a new ticket.
Sep 20, 2010Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from LombraSimilarly to how GetItemInfo works. That's what I meant.
explains what the limitations are for GetItemInfo which are totally different from GetSpellInfo.
Sep 20, 2010Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from LombraI think it makes sense considering GetItemInfo requires you to possess the item in question, if you provide an item name. I don't know if it's the real reason, but my guess is that that's how it works due to several items and spells existing with the same name.
Besides, would you not still need to check all available ranks, using IsSpellKnown and spell IDs?
We are talking about GetSpellInfo not GetItemInfo ;)
If you pass a spell ID to GetSpellInfo() it will always return the name of that spell as the first return value. However, if you pass the NAME of a spell to GetSpellInfo() it will return nil as the first return value if the player does not know that spell.
