    You wipe the table, but then on the very next line you replace it with a fresh table.

    Anytime you do
    var = {}
    You are creating a new table.

    Try doing something like
    local tdpsMenuTable = {}
    local function tdpsShowMenu()
        wipe(tdpsMenuTable)
        tdpsMenuTable.keyname = value
        --repeat for everything you're putting in the table
    end

    The arg1 .. argn globals were removed, it was a posted changed.

    Technically you can still use ... but you would need to do something like
    function(self, event, ...)
        local arg1 = ...
        --do stuff with arg1
    end

    Button lock still isn't 100%.

    If I click and drag from one ability to another, the destination ability is picked up by the mouse.

    i.e. Drag from Crusader Strike to Judgement, when the mouse button is released, Judgement will be picked up and on the cursor.

    Many of us put the ARR label on our addons because it is easier to take action against those malicious sites that host our addons without our knowledge or permission and include keyloggers, fake installers, or hijacked ads in their pages.

    Permissive licenses invite those site owners to argue and fight when we post take down requests. Posting those take down requests protects us from rumors that our addons are really keyloggers and protects the users from infection if they search for addons via Google, Bing or some other search engine.

    As Torhal mentioned the authoring community is so small and tight-knit that using ARR doesn't really cut down on creativity or code sharing. People just PM on WoWAce or WoWI or post in the comments about wanting to use some code for another project.

    It almost seems like you're arguing for the sake of argument...

    It is probably best to require the names separately. Then LibAlts could join them like this:

    local fullName = format(BATTLENET_NAME_FORMAT, givenName, surname)


    That way the names would be consistent in all locales and wouldn't break if an addon author joined them improperly for the addon's own data.

    If it becomes a big enough issue having multiple people with the same RealID identifier, we could probably create a simple GUI interface addon over the LibAlts mapping and allow some sort of correction to the mappings.

    Maybe then some kind of identifier generated by the lib is appended to the RealID?


    Not sure if that's a good idea or not though... just trying to brainstorm.

    It is not persistent. I found that out while writing RealID Toons. Generally the presenceID is different on every character. Sometimes it is the same from each individual character, however this is not a guarantee.


    And I could use LibAlts to display a main character name with the login alerts if the friend was on an alt.

    I think having IsRealID() might be beneficial. I know that in western locales it's easy to see since the names have a space, however I'm not sure of the format in eastern locales. So it might be nice to provide a mirrored API for RealIDs.


    As for automatic mapping that does seem to fall within scope for LibAlts. You could prolly look at the code from RealID Toons for which functions you need. I'm sure there is an actually event for the logins, but I tend to like filtering the toast alerts in chat.

    Including RealID into the mapping scheme doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.

    I think the easiest way might be to link a player's RealID to their main. From there it would just be a nested lookup to go from RealID to alts.

    Then you could pass "John Doe" to GetAlts(), it would check John Doe against the RealID to Mains table, obtain "Starinnia" and pass that value to get the listing of alts.

    Going in reverse, you would pass the alt to the reverse lookup, get the main character then pass it to the RealID reverse lookup to get the player's RealID.


    Another concern linking RealID to alts and mains is Starcraft II. Is there a need in WoW to link from the SC2 screen name to a WoW character name? Or is going from a real name to a character name sufficient?

    I second this suggestion. Treasure should be chests and whatever else it is on Live. Having a separate Artifacts category would mean that we could import the nodes if we wanted to and could only show the minimap circles if we actually had the profession.
