as i mentioned above, changing to diffent mirror (files-wowace.renchap.com) helps with all the crashes and empty indexes.
no, switching the mirror does not fix my vista32 crashing.
Jul 2, 2007i've been getting fairly random crashes. so i grabbed the source and ran it in debug. now its not crashing at all...Posted in: Updaters
perhaps some compiler options are causing a fault?
i'm running vista32 wondering if my error is the same as the other vista users.
i've only seen it happen since the backup xmls were generated.
Hope this helps,
Jun 28, 2007Posted in: UpdatersQuote from mahiro »but i have the same problem as uaxli, the first time i start wau i get an error, the second time it works without getting the error. is there a error log so i can post it here?
i also have the same problem, its not a catched exception, its a windows message and wau seems to hang. unfortunately i also cant find any other log. Im also unable to reproduce the error consistenly, but its a generic "stopped responding" message.
Jun 25, 2007only seems to work if there are updates in progress, try skipping version check and update all your addons, while they're updating just type something like "test" into the search bar.Posted in: Updaters

Jun 25, 2007also an error is thrown if you try to search while an update is in progress, suggested fixes:Posted in: Updaters
1) disable search while updating
2) cache the list addons to be updated, instead of reading the .checked status while running.
Jun 24, 2007hi, i dont know if 184.108.40.2064 is a stable release (since it didnt notify me of the version on startup), but i just wanted to report the autodetection of with/without externals doesnt seem to work, it always uses WITH. i have SAL amongst numerous other libs selected.Posted in: Updaters

If your helping someone consists of reading his quest log for him, you may as well just grind his character for him.
i'll give a little example just so nobody misses the point.
I play wow regularly with my gf, she wants me to help her with a few quests, and neither of us can remember exactly what this quest is, so instead of getting her to retype the quest to me, (or more, so i dont have to actually move and just read her screen) i can just read it from her quest log.
Yes, i could just grind her character for her, but playing together is much more fun, isnt it?
Feb 3, 2007oridan82 posted a message on where to download addons for 220.127.116.1141 (Taiwan server)Posted in: Addon IdeasQuote from Rabbit »
Revision history for addons can be seen by browsing the wowace TRAC.
Also, it's "Ace2", not "ACE2", Ace is not an acronym.
i dont think Trac is an acronym either, just an abbreviation. ^^
Feb 3, 2007The server and client are privvy to information that addons and such are not, we are only given access to information that bliz wants us to have, hence the API functions:Posted in: Addon Ideas
Its not possible for an addon to intercept (let alone interpret) the packet stream between the server and client.
so to answer your question, the hunter tracking works client side, most likely the client sends a request to the server every second or so asking for the location of nearby mobiles of type X, which it then puts on the minimap for you.
Its a sexy idea you have, but sadly i dont think its possible.
Feb 3, 2007i'm considering a rewrite of the Cosmos bundled addon "PartyQuests", simply because i'm used to it.Posted in: Addon Ideas
If i do decide to put my time into it, i'd probably clone the majority of the code for the sake of swiftness, but would probably also scrap the Telepathy (Quest log comms) side of it, at least for the time being. I know ckknight would love to hear that ^^ (i read on the irc logs that you despise Telepathy, and want everything switched to AceComm-2.0 ;)
No doubt i'll post again when i start it!
