posted a message on WIM - saving history for battletag name?
Yeah, I should have updated code when blizz updated api so arg3 was battletag instead of surname. It used to be that 2 and 3 were name and surname and both were encoded and unusuable so toonname was only way to save chats accurately so they didn't save as "unknown" or a bunch of random numbers.

In any case, now all realid and battletag friends will save as users battletag, combining all chars into that.

Users can't be bothered to install extra mods though. They won't go through the inconvenience. I told people forever what to download to fix X bug or Y bug and they simply don't. You have to force it down their throats by embedding it. Plus, you get key mods like skada or bigwigs and dbm to include lib, and you have rapid deployment. Because of bigwigs and DBM both using libchatanims, pretty much any raider has had glyph/talent taint eliminated for them. I don't have to wait for users in my raids to /reloadui to change a talent because they were too stubborn to download an external fix.

So basically, what ends up happening. Blizzard puts fingers in ears, and we bare all the complaints and only people who suffer are end users and us. It's better we just help the end user out without them even having to know about it.

It may give blizz a copout if user fixes are available, but it also saves us huge headaches when we constantly have to deal with "Why is Addonname breaking my glyphs/flares/raidframes/etc". Or pausing mid raid because "that guy" is having issues. Bad enough I have to make bugsack/buggrabber mandatory mods and explain why you don't just run the game with lua errors turned off because blizzard thinks reporting 100x errors a second ,during combat, with focus stealing dialogs, is such a good idea.

makes sense. Any idea what new arg is actually for? its just a basic true or false boolean. I haven't seen it in practical use yet by anything special.

4.1 adds a new arg, hideCaster (boolean), and of course, with blizz tradition, not at the end, but right smack in the middle offseting rest of args and breaking mods not updated to account for it.

    4.0.6
COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED(timestamp, event, sourceGUID, sourceName, sourceFlags, destGUID, destName, destFlags, ...)

    4.1
COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED(timestamp, event, hideCaster, sourceGUID, sourceName, sourceFlags, destGUID, destName, destFlags, ...)

here is scoop from tandanu. it is addon combination of LibJostle and DBM. so basically, what you said Phanx. :) It would probably need to be fixed in LibJostle. It's the actual origin of the taint.

""moving frames down" means it would try to move the WorldStateFrame (the status display in battlegrounds and some instances like MH). The Battleground mod tries to anchor the "click here to target the flag carrier"-frame to this frame which is a protected frame as it performs a secure action (targetting something). Everything that controls the state (visibility and position; the WorldStateFrame controls both as it is the parent of the DBM frame) of a protected frame will also become protected.

Tainted code (addon code) can't perform certain actions (like showing/hiding or moving) on protected frames while you are in combat. The WorldStateFrame tries to perform some of these actions like showing itself which is no problem as long as it is untainted/secure. LibJostle taints the WorldStateFrame and it can no longer perform these actions.

Just having DBM installed is no problem: WorldStateFrame is protected but the code is still marked as secure
Having LibJostle installed without DBM is also no problem: WorldStateFrame is tainted but not protected

Both addons together will cause problems in some cases "

I just don't see how dbm can be causing the taint off hand unique to you when no one else seems to be getting it yet I do see the functions in the code that are referred to in taintlog so I don't really know. I'd honestly suspect either an addon conflict, or a damaged blizz UI addon from a recent wow patch though. That or you just found the perfect set of circumstances to produce a problem no one else can. Even when I do pre mades with guild, none of us have problems in any battlegrounds from DBM. Xperl on other hand. It still tries to set attributes constantly in combat and causes a lot of taint.
