posted a message on Models, how to move camera or model
Yes, I have taken a look at both. Dresser uses the standard blizzard DressUpModel Frame which uses SetCamera(1) as default. CloseUp I had a harder time deciphering but as far as I can tell it uses a PlayerModel frame and a DressUpModel frame which both use SetCamera(1) as default.

Both addons do movement of the model in all 3 dimensions (:SetPosition()) but only rotation around 1 of 3 axes (:SetFacing()) in their OnUpdate functions. What I miss is rotation around the other 2 axes (or some way to freely move and point the camera).

As I said I'm not sure this is possible. I can not find any functions used to rotate around the other axes.

So I thought :SetCamera(2) might be the solution since wowwiki says:
"Camera 2 (or in fact, any number other than 0 or 1) can be freely moved."
I have however not been able to find what functions are used to "freely move" the camera and I am not sure "freely moved" covers "freely rotated".

Thanks for the idea!

I took a look at the two addons. Both seem to use :SetCamera(1) which as far as I can find only support a static camera where you can rotate the model along its vertical axis and pan the model in x and y coordinates.

What i would like to do (not sure if it is possible) is to look down on the models from a higher angle. I was thinking of using this to make a simple isometric game using ingame models as pieces.

edit: Might be possible using :SetCamera(1) if I use insanely tall DressUpModel frames and pan the model to the bottom. Will try after sleep.

If I create a DressUpModel frame and set it to show a model can I then somehow freely manipulate its camera? (or x,y,z position and yaw/pitch/roll of the model?)

I found :SetCamera(2) which seems to be what I want but I find no function for actually moving the camera.

I can move the model with :SetPosition() but have not found a way to change yaw/pitch/roll.

Ok, not a big problem ^^

Another question if I may. Until 2.4 I used a old mHud build and it had an energy ticker showing me when I was getting energy next. I see there is a EnergyTicker folder in the mHud one but when I look in the module part of mHud config it's not there? I can see the other modules, ManaTicker, Background, Falloff, Abyss etc.

Edit: Reinstalled mHud and could see EnergyTicker on my druid. Made mHude look like I want it to and shifted into cat. Got errors.

[2008/03/30 23:14:22-47-x69]: mHud\EnergyTicker\EnergyTicker.lua:79: attempt to index field 'energyticker' (a nil value)
mHud\mTicker.lua:84: in function `OnUpdate'
mHud\mTicker.lua:54: in function <Interface\AddOns\mHud\mTicker.lua:54>

Edit2: After restarting WoW it seems to work on the Druid. But EnergyTicker doesn't show up in the modules list for my Rogue.

A question for my druid: Is it possible in someway to have the manabar always visible and at the same place and when changing to cat/bear form show another bar for rage/energy.

Basically having the druid mana bar always showing and only showing the power bar when in cat/bear?

@Merl:
That helps a lot :)

Was able to understand most of the other stuff I needed from looking at other skins but the alpha templates got me a bit confused.

Are there documentation somewhere for all the options when making a skin?
Right now I'm a bit confused about how to do skin.alphaTemplates for my bars.

(I have not read through the entire thread so if this has been answered before I'm sorry)

Edit:
Also, a question about DogTags. Let's say I want to show the HP (like "120000") if its known and othervise show it as a percent with a %-sign at the end ("100%"). How would I go about doing that? [CurHP] gets current hp and [PercentHP:Percent] would get the percent with a %-sign at the end. How would I combine these to do what I want?

Would be nice if "Configuration Mode" made all bars visible (i.e. combo point bar even though having no combo points, same with threat) so they could be easily resized/placed.

@Valle: No need to provide the textures I found them quickly. They only needed some resizing to work with mHud.

To use these textures:

Download
http://web.telia.com/~u18514268/wow/nurfedHP.tga
http://web.telia.com/~u18514268/wow/nurfedMP.tga
and put them in "..\AddOns\mHud\Textures"

Then add these lines att the bottom of "mHudMedia.lua" located in "..\AddOns\mHud"
media:Register("statusbar", "nurfedHP", [[Interface\Addons\mHud\Textures\nurfedHP]])
media:Register("statusbar", "nurfedMP", [[Interface\Addons\mHud\Textures\nurfedMP]])

Start up WoW (or restart it if it's already running) and the textures should show up in the list.

In my picture I used the following options:
Health Bar
---Size: 196x98
---Bar Alpha: 1
---Text:
------Size: "12"
------Dog Tag: "[PercentHP:Percent:HPColor] [SureHP:HPColor]"
------Point: "Center"
------Relative Point: "Center"
------Font: "Friz Quadrata TT"

Power Bar
---Size: 160x80
---Bar Alpha: 1
---Text:
------Size: "12"
------Dog Tag: "[FractionalMP:PowerColor]"
------Point: "Center"
------Relative Point: "Center"
------Font: "Friz Quadrata TT"

The textures are pretty transparent to begin with so you might want to turn up alpha as much as possible or they are a bit hard to see imho.

I would if I had one set up. The reason I don't have one is because I don't really know what it shows >_>
If I'm tanking does it show the partymember who's closest to me in threat, or?

Also feature request: A button to make all bars show so I can easily configure size, position, etc.

Here's an image of how my hud looks now. Was very easy to make your own graphics and customizing the layout. Really like this addon so far!

@Merl: Thanks, the example png solved my problems. I use photoshop, not PSP, and they handle transparency/alpha channels a bit differently afaik.

Maybe add a line about the fact that the bar texture should fill the entire image height (i.e. no transparent areas above/below the bar) or the bar will not properly display the % left.

edit: Had some problems to with the fact that if you add a texture line to the mHudMedia.lua file, place the texture in the textures map you have to restart the game (not just reload ui) to make it show up ingame. If you just reload the option will be selectable but the texture doesn't show up.

edit2: Also a feature request: Make it possible to change color used for the bars (at least combo point, I want mine red -_-)

edit3: A small problem: If I set the Targets Health bar's text to [CurHP:PercentHP:Percent] the text will only show up if a switch from one target to another. If I have no target and target an enemy no text will show.
edit3: Another feature request: As a druid it would be nice if the power ticker only showed up in cat form. (i.e. when power type is energy)

Just downloaded this and it looks great! Tried to create a custom bar texture but I'm running into some trouble while following your instructions.

I created a png (64x512) in black and white (I want the black to be transparent as you said):
http://web.telia.com/~u18514268/temp/LejSlightCurve/LejSlightCurveOuter.png

I downloaded the linked blp converter and dragged and dropped my png on it, creating:
http://web.telia.com/~u18514268/temp/LejSlightCurve/LejSlightCurveOuter.blp

Problem is the black parts are black ingame, not transpartent. How do I fix this? :(
