The SendAddonMessage()api is definetly an issue for players on weak lines.

As many players insist on having X number of syncing addons running while raiding they can cause issues for many other players.

I pray for the day when blizzard actaully add server side processing of those messages so they are only sent to players who register for them.

Is there any chance that you could make it possible to make a rule to move all 'new' items into a seperate bar? What I mean is things that you mark with new anyhow. It would be really nice as I sell most of my quest rewards anyhow.

    Kind of a moot point, but TargetUnit(UnitName("player")) === TargetUnit("player"). :)

But what happens when there is a hunter who insists on naming his pet the same name as he is himself? (supposedly to make it harder to target him in pvp)

I know grid have issues with that and I had to tell the hunter to stop using that pet. I think it targetted half the spells to the pet and half to the hunter. Annoying as hell when grid tells me the hunter is dead but he isnt.

    Line 169 UnitExistsRL: etc..

I cannot find a reference to the object UnitExistsRL anywhere before that. And it bugs for me at that point.

Well if I for one should go back to that method of communication then I would have to remove loads of addons as I have more than 4-5 syncing addons. And I would like to be able to be in some normal chat windows aswell.

That is the flaw or whatever you want to call it of the sendaddonmessage. if you target raid wich is natural for a damage meter then it sends to everyone who is in the raid no matter if they are running the addon or not.

You cannot 'subscribe' to addons you want to listen on. This is by design from blizzard as they dont want to have a million different channels on each server as i imagine it would generate quite a lot of work for the servers.

I would love to see that you could subscribe to what prefixes you want to see.

posted a message on itemsync patch/new function
local item cache gets updated automaticly when you are close to a character in the game so that your client picks the correct model for the items. this is to render characters correctly.

Afaik there is no lua event triggered when you 'see' characters or mobs. So thats how you can have items in local cache that isnt in itemsync.

When an item is in itemsync but not in local cache is even simpler. Everytime there is a new patch the patcher deletes your local cache to not have inconsistancies. But your sv file for itemsync still knows of the item.

Once you would start on a BabbleLight I think they will stop beign in sync pretty quick and either babblelight would be updated or babble'heavy' would be updated.

The best solution would be if we could get conditions into either the .xml file or the .toc file based on locale.
That way the loading would still be quick as the blizzard loader would only load relevant locales.

The addon itself would be as big but it would never be loaded and thus it wouldnt matter at all.

It seems to be working beautiful

How are you going to analyze threat?

Are you logging the treath once per second or something? Highest value recorded or what since it is an ever changing value.

It would be really nice if you could do something like incubator. Setting a minimum time to display or something like that. So that you set it to 4 min then you will only see buffs that will expire in the next 4 mins.

That's why we started SRA, to create a new protocol for these things, not compatible with the old CTRA protocols.

Problem is that we're not very interested in finishing what we started.

If anyone wants to take a stab at it, it's on the wowace SVN under the SRA module.

If CTRA is infact 'dead'. Couldnt we just start to expand the protocol instead of rewriting the whole thing that people doesnt really seem to want anyhow?

I wonder if ctra will ever be updated again. Seems like none of the CT addons have been updated like in a million years..
