Silly question, but is there a line in the code where I can set the background alpha of the pane to be 0 without affecting the bar-backgrounds? Just on about perfecting my addon layout, and tinkering with the style of everything. ^_^

Unfortunately there's no easy way since it's tied to the global background color. If you remove line 1169 addon:RegisterBackground(Pane), then set your own backdrop and backdropcolor you can do it.

What I'm noticing is that the timer for the second wave spawning (which is spot on) and the timer for the second cast are expiring within 5 seconds or so of each other. Something obviously prevents the new wave from casting right as it spawns, but the timer is still valid for the old wave. Anub burrows before the third timer reaches 0, which is why I was assuming that there was a third cast (and our add tanks were being pro and stunning it correctly) but with what you say that may not be the case.

If the third cast will never get off, might it be better to hide the bars there until phase 3 when there's no longer a burrow to cancel the casts?

Yeah, the third timer for shadow strike shouldn't be there. It's something I'll be fixing in the future. Just remember that Anub will always only do 2 shadow strikes until leeching swarm. The problem is that the second shadow strike goes off before the burrow, and the mod doesn't know when your raid will be hitting leeching swarm, so it has no way of knowing if it should keep going or stop. In 10m, you could do the fight in one burrow or two. In 25m, a raid will do it in two burrows (maybe one in the future).

Using v390, these are my observations on the cast timer:

The first wave of adds casts exactly when DXE says it should. There was one attempt that we still had one add alive when the second wave was running in (which is when the second cooldown expires) and it started to cast again exactly when the timer ran out. The second wave appears to cast midway through the next timer (somewhere around 15 seconds remaining). Our add tank seems to have the timing down on when to stun them, but I'm not sure what that is. The bars do disappear when Anub burrows, which limits the usefulness.

I'll look into it. I'm not sure how the second wave casted shadow strike 15 seconds before the timer ended. At most it should be 1-3 seconds off. Also, the bars disappear because the adds will never cast shadow strike when Anub is burrowed, since Anub has to trigger it.

Yes, there are Blizzard boss emote messages, redirecting the DXE message to Raid Warning through Sink and so on. What I'm requesting is not that, but totally optional raid lead-only (or raid assistant) raid warning chat messages when DXE warnings fire. Like BigWigs2 had. And for them to be able to be seen by everyone in the raid, including yourself (unless you choose to bossblock them). This is in addition to the Sink-directed DXE warnings as are there presently. Or else an option not to use one of the two message outputs (Sink, which can be set to "none" currently & the raid warning chat messages) for those who want reduced "spam".

    ...

    ...

The problem, though, wasn't just on Onyxia. I didn't see any MSBT warnings for when an Emalon add was charged or anything else during the VoA run.

    ...

You shouldn't have seen any MSBT warnings on Onyxia or Emalon. There are three types of bars: simple, centerpopup, and dropdown. Warnings only fire for simple bars. All the bars on Onyxia and Emalona are either centerpoup or dropdown. What I'll do is add a threshold for how long before a dropdown bar ends to fire a message. And I'll add a threshold for how long after a centerpopup bar appears to fire a message. Thankfully I've suffixed the variable names well enough so I can make it ignore certain bars, like 'X on other'. How does that sound?

I LOVE how smooth and effective this addon is, and the customizability is great. The only thing I'd ask for is options relating to the spacing between bars and some position options other than dragging. (Because of the "pixel straddling", it's incredibly difficult to get clean 2 pixel borders if a bar isn't positioned exactly right, which is impossible to do with dragging).

I'll probably add some slider in the options, or even better, little arrows on the anchors to nudge them pixel by pixel.

It seems like the timers for shadow strike on anub25h are early once phase 3 begins. Apparently DBMs are as well although a new beta fixes it but bigwigs ones work fine might have to switch to that temporarily :(

This was fixed in 390-beta. DBM and BigWigs use the same method.

What I would also like to see for anub 25 hard mode is an option to config a warning for Penetrating Cold only when in phase 3 i.e When leeching swarm debuff is also on you. As it's very insignificant in phase 1/2.

That way I can get all my members to set it up to play a massiive unique sound (you will die c'thun sound comes to mind by default) when they need to healthstone/frostpot/immunity.

Also DBM's ability to mark the people who get penetrating cold with raid icons is very useful, it allows you to assign specific healers to each icon for phase 3 and should be added if possible.

In v390-beta, Penetrating Cold does what you described, and I added multi-marking. It will use Icons 2-6. By default, Icons 2-6 are cross, square, moon, triangle, diamond. You can change this in Alerts -> Raid Icons.

I've added it in the latest alpha. You can find the option in Alerts -> Screen Flash. I recommend setting the alpha to 1. I had to gray scale the image so it might look a little different, but it's about the same.

Gave this a try yesterday. DXE-v379-beta-17-g50f0b47, USEnglish client/server, WoW 3.2.2.10505 live. Looks interesting. A few things.

--Any plans for raid warning chat broadcasts of the DXE alerts by either raid leads or assistants by the time of release status (yes, call me Mr. Broadcast)?

--Have the single text Warning Messages option available now (through Sink r67) set to MikSBT, Notification, Sticky. In both Onyxia 10 and 25 (a couple tries on each), never recieved a warning there. Only the default Blizzard text (in the Error Frame & chat) and the DXE timer bars & sounds for them appeared.

Later in VoA, didn't receive any MikSBT alerts from DXE for anything during the three bosses there either. Only the bars & sounds. No problem with MikSBT; BigWigs2 provided MSBT sink alerts in both of those places the day before.

None of the "bossblock" in Miscellaneous were checkmarked.

--The Proximity window (with the default options of all the class filters checkmarked, etc.) never appeared at all during Emalon in VoA, as it was expected to.

It may have been that I wasn't within 10 yards of anyone during the whole fight so it didn't activate. But not a fan of that design if that is actually the design. Far prefer seeing the proximity window at the start of the event so that 1) I know that its working properly and 2) reassurance that I am not within range of anyone else.

--In Encounters, Modules, Northrend (again adjusting things outside of the zone), the following bosses are listed after loading that module: Archavon, Emalon, Malygos & Sartharion. No Koralon, despite there apparently being a LUA for him.

--What is the Counter checkbox for (in Encounters, (encounter zone), (boss name))?

I have no plans to explicitly send raid warning messages (directly calling SendChatMessage("RAID_WARNING",...). Blizzard has recently been adding the functionally equivalent (boss emote messages) to the most important abilities for all encounters. Though I may be able to add an option to allow raid leaders to make bars fire raid warning messages. For instance, dropdown bars could fire a raid warning message when they dropdown, center bars could do it when they appear, etc. I'm open to ideas.

You'll only see warning message for bars labeled 'someability Warning'. Onyxia's Deep Breath is a cast bar. I agree that it should fire a warning message for it. I will probably add a toggle to make a bar fire a warning message, and default it on for certain abilities.

The proximity window has to manually be shown either by typing '/dxe proximity' or clicking the left most icon on the encounter pane and then selecting 'Proximity'. I will be making it auto-show for certain encounters (see ticket #15).

Oops, I forgot to add Koralon to the .toc. I'm surprised no one reported this earlier.

The counter check box will append the number of times that particular bar has been fired since the start of the encounter (e.g. with counter: Impale, Impale 2, Impale 3, ... | without counter: Impale, Impale, ....)

Thats a good image of the customized bars, complete with clean black iconborders and a slimmed down bar.
Thou personally i would like to be able to remove the bar background or make it transparent.

A small thing about the defaults i noticed, it might not be such a good idea to use the "low health" and "low mana" sounds as default sounds for various events in a bossmod.

I for one hit HS/pot/CD on reflex whenever i hear those sounds, causing me to waste them when it was "only" a boss warning :p

Running it side by side with DBM atm to try and get used to the different warnings. Main problem atm is the screenflash that is to intrusive for my taste when it covers the entire screen instead of just the edges.

And the rangedisplay limiting at 5 gets a bit clunky from time to time, would have liked to be able to increase height only of it and thus show more then 5 chars, and also to reduce height of the bars to accommodate more bars on the same window height

I'll see what I can do about making it customizable enough to achieve that layout. The timer font seems really small so maybe I'll add an option to show it in decimal form.

The screen flash is designed to be impossible to miss. I initially used the low health texture that DBM uses, but I decided it isn't functionally good enough. For example, someone could be tunnel visioning on the center of the screen.

You can globally change the sounds in the 'Sounds' category. By default, Low Mana and Low Health are ALERT3 and ALERT4. I should probably find two annoying sounds to replace them, since they were stolen from MSBT.

More proximity window options will be added in the future. I have a bunch of other features I want to add first :).

KnThrak answered with what I would have said. I'll elaborate a bit further.

    1. Yes there are screen flashes. You can toggle them for every alert and change the color.

    2. The range checker can be accessed using the slash command /dxe proximity or by clicking the right most button on the encounter pane and then selecting proximity. It will display, in game yards, the distance you are away from players :))

    3. For legion flame, it will only appear if you're very close to them. In general, arrows appear only when you need to know.

    4. I believe it's out of scope. EnsidiaFails will handle things like this.

    5. I plan to add role-based alerts in the far future. It'll be a pain to track what role each raid member is.

I have a bit of an odd question but is there a global variable of some sort that is accessible via kgpanels to tell when a boss fight has been engaged?

I guess I could add a lock button in the options. I should put a 'Getting Started' section window in-game for first timers.

Can you provide a screenshot of the modified DBM bars? I can try to accommodate what you want.

It's currently not possible to change the inset of the screen flash. I guess I could add some option for it.

Those options are all checked and using the latest alpha on Twins last night still got "You have Empowered Darkness!"

Also, I didn't see and option to disable the decimal on the timer?

Apparently CHAT_MSG_RAID_BOSS_WHISPER and CHAT_MSG_RAID_BOSS_EMOTE don't pass a localized boss name as the first argument for some messages (Yogg Sanity, and as you mentioned Empowered Darkness). I'll remove the condition check to see if a message originated from a known boss, since the event name already implies that. I'll make the option block all boss emotes/whispers.

I'll add loot switching to my TODO list, but I don't consider it high priority. If you absolutely need it use MimironFFA.

If I added this to DXE, it would add about as much overhead as MimironFFA. I'd just have to add two functions, with a few upvalues, and four more values into Mimiron's table. Options are unnecessary because it'd set loot back to its original state. So really, it wouldn't bloat the addon.

Hiya, I would love to see bars showing timers for next harpoon (even better if its the last one) on the fight of Razorscale (Uld). And 1 comment, on Lord Jaraxxus, the fire elementals' warning sound its the same that Omen uses when you get aggro, I changed DXE's sound but dunno if you want to change it on the default because it can be distracting

Is there any way to global change the raid icon selected by the addon instead to have to go in each boss module and change them for all ?

Harpoon will be added soon. I plan to replace the list of sounds with just ALERT 1, ALERT 2, etc., and then adding a section in the options to select what you want ALERT 1, ALERT 2, etc. to be from SharedMedia. Something similar will be done to raid icons too.

Are there any optimizations not yet in or anything that would be affecting FPS? I recently noticed a drop in FPS, disabling DXE improved them. Using latest alpha builds. I'm not on a shitty comp either.

edit: Also think for ToC there are 'engage in xx' timers, but none for Lord Jaraxxus (minor)

    Quote from KnThrak
I noticed that too, and only just recently. I seem to be getting problems with DXE, but I didn't just I'd say... a week ago? Not sure :S

There is a bug in v350-beta that will only cause a big fps drop ONLY after you do Faction Champions, but that has been fixed. The only things I've added in the last month that would affect fps is the proximity window and health sorting on Faction Champions. I'll try to profile this week and see if it's eating up a ton of CPU.

I'd add a Jaraxxus engage timer, but the way I detect engages doesn't require localizations (preferred way)

On 25-man Yogg-Saron tonight the Crusher spawn timers seemed off. At least twice I saw the timer end ~5 seconds before the brain team stunned Yogg, but no crusher spawned. I wish I had more detailed troubleshooting info to give you.

As far as your warning alert plan, it sounds reasonable. In general, I'd shy away from adding a ton of options to all the individual alerts in all the encounters. When I end up going in and clicking the same check box on a couple dozen option pages, my enthusiasm for a piece of software quickly wanes. I consider making the bar texture and font settings global a big improvement over setting them individually for each anchor, and I'd much prefer a global toggle + threshold slider over individual toggles per alert.

If you decide to cater to the people who like twiddling all those pages and pages of options, I probably don't mind so long as the defaults stay sane.

I'll have to look into the tentacle timer next week, unless someone who hasn't cleared Yogg this week wants to try and figure it out. Blizzard should have indicated this in the patch notes .

Yeah, the threshold idea is better so I'm going to go with it. Even if I added more individual options, people only have to configure it one time, and then they're done until a new encounter is added. I don't consider it that bad.

Here's what I plan to do. I'll make three different options for the handling of warning alerts.

    1. Anchor to the center anchor (default)
    2. Anchor to a separate warnings anchor, which will have the same options as the top/center anchor.
    3. Output to MSBT,SCT,etc.

Also for option 2, I could add a toggle in the Encounters->Alerts section to force a timer to anchor onto the warnings anchor, because some alerts are extremely short (cast bars). This toggle will be off by default for every alert and will only work if option 2 is selected. OR just have a threshold slider so any alert <= some time will anchor onto the warnings anchor.

Any suggestions are welcome before I implement this.
