    I notice there is a LightHeaded.lua in the skinner addon now. If you are planning on skinning LightHeaded, please ensure you retain the Wowhead logo in the bottom right hand corner. Without their approval and support, my addon would no longer exist.

    Hi cladhaire,

    I have read the comments in the LightHeaded Lua files and the Wowhead logo has been retained in the bottom right hand corner. :)

    Thank you kindly sir.

    I'm removing the contents of the frame so yes it would remove the contents in C as well. As far as the GC, yes it would no be removed until the next GC but there isn't any way to call a GC so that will have to do.

    No, you remove the table that wraps the light userdata. You do not remove the frames.

    Memory before frame creation: 13263

    t = {} for i=1,1e5 do t[i] = CreateFrame("Frame") end

    Memory after frame creation: 23989

    t = nil
    Memory after removing lua references: 21951

    Hardly a "Delete", and that's just for basic frames with 0 children

    You really should understand hash tables. Its a O(1) lookup in most cases. Strings are interned, and everythign else is a first class value.

    I repeat AGAIN, you should make marked optimisations to the code, and make a diff, not these ridiculous sweeping changes.

    Just a note to Industrial. Yes, it's faster to retrieve globals using the method you mentioned however it will be slower than an exclusive table with a limited amount of variables since when you call a key it has to search the entire table for that key. The best idea would be to use setfenv to call the globals initially but a caching system will still improve speed.

    whoa.
    whoa.
    whoa.

    hash tables.
    there is no search
    it just finds the value.

    are you kidding me?

    Please don't try and talk down to us.

    I thought the goal was to get away from the wacky things titan used to do. I think this is worse than anything I saw in there.

    In my opinion it is. People read these threads, and there have been a number of low level users who have already been pointed to this thread and are running arbitrary python scripts to accomplish one thing.

    If you'd like to explore another alternative, make another thread, and show that your scripts are "experimental" and "untested" rather than just posting them here, where sheep are already blindly running things. Its called responsibility, and if you're posting things, without running them and without fully understand what and why, then I call that unresponsible.

    You should not be posting that stuff in this thread, because people are coming here to get resolution to one issue and having multiple scripts for multiple purposes here just plain confuses the issue.
