EDIT: Why on earth would you think that making the accusation you did, without any basis whatsoever is "okay"? I had absolutely 0 issues with the discussion you were participating in, until you made things personal, stepping over the line.

Since I was threatened with being banned, I don't see how I can comment anymore on this. Feel free to throw me a PM though.

It never should have been said in the first place, so there's nothing more to comment on. Thats not my opinion, that's the way these forums are run. If you'd like to return to constructive discussion without flinging your personal opinion and criticism of others as fact, feel free. I've said my piece, if you feel you have more to say, you send me a PM or an email. You know how I can be contacted.

Who cares about a framework that does everything the "right way" if it does not have support from both developers and users? Well, I certainly don't.

It sounds from this that you want addon users to know and support a specific framework, and have popular addons as a result. I personally, don't want anyone to ever know what library my addon uses, I just want it to "work" for them.

You got that wrong then. I agree that it's a good thing if the users do not need to know what framework they are using or that they are using any at all. Popularity is not the issue. It's the synergy that a large amount of developers create that matters. Users matter too in this respect with important feedback.

No, I don't plan to shut up just because I was not here from the very start. I don't believe I am trolling. But I guess the forum administrators are the judge and jury of that.

I never once said you had to shut up because you haven't been here. I said you were making personal accusations and insults, and that under no circumstance is "okay". I also suggested that rather than sitting here making accusations and flinging insults, that you involve yourself in the development of the frameworks, and decide which one works best for you.

EDIT: Why on earth would you think that making the accusation you did, without any basis whatsoever is "okay"? I had absolutely 0 issues with the discussion you were participating in, until you made things personal, stepping over the line.

If that means "keeping an open mind", then it is a good thing. On the other hand, it is hard to ignore the immense success of Ace2 - no matter how jealous a couple of the Ace3 developers obviously are that ckknight was able to achieve it and they were not.

Frankly, you're completely out of line on this one, and you're beyond the line of trolling. It is not your place to state or decide something like this with absolutely no basis. Since I work directly with the Ace3 developers, I only have to assume you are talking about me, and perhaps Tekkub, since I know (FOR A FACT) without having to interpret or insult people, that not a single Ace3 developer is "jealous" of the success ckknight was able to achieve. He didn't achieve it. A lot of people put a lot of work into the libraries, and the bulk of the success of the framework is due to the addons that use them, and the updating infrastructure that's been created.

If we take my assumption from the first section, that you must be referring to me, I'd ask you the following:

    1. Were you even here?
    2. Do you have any idea what really happened?
    3. Have I _ever_ tried to push Dongle as a framework for others to use.

The answer to all three questions is: "No".

This thread is getting entirely out of hand. You're no longer presenting information or having a dialogue, you're sniping people without any regard for facts or opinions. I was fine until you crossed the line with the fanboi bullshit you present above. In other words, if you want to work on Rock, help with Rock. If you want to work on Ace3.. work on Ace3. If you don't care, then shut up.

Well, I thought about that and I tried to contact Guillotine via email, but I got no response.

I suspect he was at Blizzcon.

I think Knowledge-1.0 is "better" (or simply handles some problems in a different way) than HelpLib, because:
    - I think it is a bit more efficient

    A dubious claim, no offense.

    - Knowledge-1.0 is using AceLibrary and AceHook-2.1

This is a negative. In order to use this library, I need to include three files, when the code doesn't need it, at all.

    - It is not fixed to Blizzard's KB frontend, so changes in the KB frontend or maybe another frontend for the KB won't break Knowledge-1.0.

Maybe I'm reinventing the wheel, but I think more variety is not that bad.

*shrug*. Sometimes yes.. other times I can't help but think its more of a problem than anything. Thanks for stopping by to answer my questions.

No, I'm not trolling.. I'm absolutely serious. Wouldn't it have been better to work with Guillotine to get any other features you might need or want, rather than just re-coding what was already a tiny library.

because people like to reInvent the wheel.

    was afraid of that.

Because decursive was playing the game for you with a single button, whereas the UI telling you if you're about to pull aggro is just a warning that the player still has to act on.

Blizzard's schtick is that we can display as much information as possible, as long as the player is the one who has to act on it.

I asked in IRC. Why did we need another library, when Guillotine already wrote HelpLib that accomplishes the same task.

    Thanks.

More to the point I read somewhere in amongst the blizzcon coverage that blizzard are looking at implementing a threatmeter and some boss mod.

Threat figures direct from server without the parsing overhead should be handy.

Its not true, people are overstating what they think they heard :P

    Quote from Matrix110 »

Threatmeter is not something that is needed anywhere, it shouldnt be implemented tbh...

To bad you cant really make KTM/Threat not working without screwing dozen of useful mods :-(

They aren't planning on removing KTM or Threat, in fact they are quite helping them as far as having uber accurate threat data (they do a great job as it is). If they implement something into the default UI, you can expect it to be something relative, or at least a warning when you're about to pull aggro off the current "tank".

And your posts will continue to be reported, and edited at least, you will be banned at worst. This isnt' a negotiation. Regardless of whether you felt belittled or not, he answered your question. His post was not offensive, and you had the option to report his post. You chose not to.

Next time you want to throw personal insults and swearing on a forum, make sure you're not the one who's wrong, and that your action are justified. They aren't.
