Sorry, a slight misinterpretation there. LunarSphere is more lack of default "sets." ^_^
It takes ALOT of time ot configure LunarSphere for any particular class. It would be nice if there were default "mage", "necro", "druid", etc sets pre-builtin based on the class your currently running.

Apr 8, 2008My apologies to anybody I might have offended. This was a rant after spending over an hour playing around with new mods and not coming up with anything that resembles order.Posted in: General Chat
Pitbull isn't the only mod suffering from this. There's also ag_Unitframes, LunarShpere, AutoBar, and some new SCT mod I saw, to name a few.
Designing configurations is extremely hard. More often than not, a developer cannot design a proper config. The reason is two: 1) they are too close to the product to know what people wouldn't know. They have problems seeing their code in the eyes of others. 2) They are coders; they link like coders; they design their configs in a very logical manor which more often than not isn't very intuitive.
I'm speaking here from experience. I'm a coder. When I design something that's going to be used by users, I don't trust my own thoughts. I make sure I get as many eyes on it as I can. There is no way I can properly see things how an outsider would see it. I tell you; it's a freaking pain in the ass getting a decent user-friendly admin screen built.
To continue with the classification of users. I completely agree with the A, B, C classifications. The only thing I would do is change up the numbers a bit. I would put a good 70-75% within group A. 25-30% within B and the rest within C (~1%). I consider myself a group B person. I use to be group C. I use to look at the minute of details, but over time, I've fallen back to group B. I want something that works perfect out of the box, but with the options to tweak here and there to my desires. I don't need these custom colours, custom text, different bars for each frame, etc.
I like X-Perl, although I will admit they are start to get a little on the bloated side. However, it is very, very easy to find config options within X-Perl. There is no tedious (+) icon to click. Everything is laid out on a single page based on unitframe type. And there's size scales in the exact same place on every page for the particular unit frame. There's even alignment helpers to get things even (namely raid frames). X-Perl isn't perfect, but definitely, imho, a better direction than PitBull and Ace2 mods seem to be heading.
Apr 6, 2008Okay, this is a rant:Posted in: General Chat
I bloody hate "highly configurable" addons. Why? Simply because they have SO MANY bloody options with absolutely UGLY default options and NO library of additional "styles" or "layouts."
Seriously. Highly configuration is nice, IF you provide SIMPLE options to get SIMPLE things done: I want to change ALL my unit frames to a select style; I want to change ALL tool-tips to a select style; I want to say, "oh, this style is perfect"; I want to say, "oh, but it needs a little squish here, and lets move this up here. Done!"
Honestly ... I'm all for trying ag_Unitframes or Pitbull, but my god, the default is UGLY and to do anything within them requires a masters degree in add-on options. And who ever thought "stick all unit frames in the center of the screen by default" needs to be shot.
I have yet to find any Pitbull layout that works. They all completely bugger it up (even the ONE built in option!). My guess is due to Pitbull's recent change. That's good; updating is great, but for crying out loud, at least provide a good selection of layouts by default! THEN we can go back and use your "highly configurable" set of options to our tastes.
Okay, done with my rant....it's just something I've been noticing. Everybody is coming out with "HIGH CONFIGURABLE!" without any bloody BASIC settings for people that like K.I.S.S. design.
DART and DUF were daunting, but by god they were EASY to use and EASY to understand. Everything released since then has been a cluster F of hierarchical menus and sliders.
Start programming like a designer, not like a programmer. Proper User Interface design is an art. K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple, Stupid.
I apologize if this offends anybody. I know development is hard work (I do it for a living), but it doesn't take a genius of any type to say, "Okay, this addon is way too complex; we need to simplify a few things." I would LOVE to see Addon developers try to configure an array of options with their own addon. Then they may very well see the frustration I constantly deal with.
/em goes back to X-Perl Unitframes, again.
(not that anything is wrong with X-Perl, but the configuration of other options really do give them some potential.)

why dont you just use the Game Menu -> Interface -> TinyTip?
Didn't know there was such an option. Too bad that doesn't work either. :(
My tooltip will not get back on my cursor anymore, even though the options said it's on cursor...

This is because you do not have TinyTipOptions installed. Get that from WAU or my SVN. I'll fix the bug where it gives an error dialog instead of TinyTip itself giving an error.
I can assure you, I have TinyTipOptions loaded, but I, too, am getting this error.
I don't know LUA, but from what I can make out, everything looks fine. I have no idea why TinyTip won't recognize TinyTipOptions being loaded. TinyTip even properly loads it: Load It shows TinyTipOptions not loaded, /ttip and TinyTipOptions is loaded -- but command still fails.
Feb 24, 2008I'm at a loss here, how do I get this addon working?Posted in: AddOn HELP!
I have Outfitter 4.0 and the absolute latest version of Baggins and Baggins_Outfitter downloaded via the WoWAceUpdater. However, it's not working for me properly.
I have created a category called "Resto." I go to add a new Rule to this category and I select "Outfitter." However, the only option available to me is "Outfitter: All" even though I have 4 different sets configured within Outfitter (I'm a druid).
What am I missing here? There's no way this is how the Addon works. I would have a lot more posts on this via searches if it was the case...
Sep 2, 2007I updated BigWigs for the first time in months around a week ago. Ever since then, I've had problems with overlapping text.Posted in: Raid AddOns
As you can see from the image here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/guice666/1305750982/
The timer bar and text warning are overlapping making it impossible to see what's being timed. This happens with BigWigs and LittleWigs.
Anybody know exactly what's causing this and how to fix it? The only other raid based AddOn I have is oRA2.
