posted a message on Determin race vs expansion

There's no API for that, that I'm aware of, but given the limited number of races and the interval in which new ones are added, a simple hand-crafted lookup table should fit your needs.

Just saw the "Lua Code Discussion"-Forum, maybe a mod can move this thread? :)
     Done.
    Regarding your problem:
From the code in GossipFrame.lua it seems like the unit token "npc" refers to the corresponding unit.
So try something like UnitGUID("npc") in reaction to GOSSIP_SHOW.

Where has the good old habit of dry coded addons gone :(
Also, anything I release is release quality as per name... never said I'd be having high standards... ;)

posted a message on set frame attributes & incompatibility with AceGUI-3.0?
Just had a quick look at the AceGUI code itself (something you could have done yourself ;) ).
AceGUI:Create(type) returns an AceGUI widget of the given type and while there is a "frame" type, this isn't a normal frame. It thus doesn't have the same API.
In theory, you could dig into its internal frame and set the options there but these wouldn't be cleaned up on release.
So the best way would likely be to clone your own custom widget from the frame widget.

You'll be a lot more likely getting help over in the SCIIMapster forums.

And you should improve your problem description skills, e.g. full sentences, actual information, larger readable screenshots, ...

posted a message on Profession recipes
LibPeriodicTable-3.1 has sets for the various professions, filled by a data crawler for wowhead.
These only list ids, so you'll have to look up the names yourself.
The quality of the data depends on wowhead's quality so it's not always 100% accurate :/

posted a message on Better way than localized text to detect item class/subclass
if the global string is obviously used for something else, e.g. minimap tracking as in this case, and not for the situation you're looking for, I wouldn't count on the translation matching in all languages though...

Usually you just fill your tooltip with data and when you're done call :UpdateScrolling() to make it fit the screen.

    posted a message on LibQTip
    here's roughly what I use:

    function do_OnEnter(frame)
        local tooltip = LibQTip:Acquire("ToolTipName")
        tooltip:SmartAnchorTo(frame)
        tooltip:SetAutoHideDelay(0.1, frame)
        tooltip:EnableMouse(true)

-- code to fill tooltip here

        tooltip:Show()
    end
The tootip will auto-hide shortly after leaving, so no OnLeave (or an empty function dummy) is needed for the data object.

posted a message on what is a German server?
Client language is the language the game client uses, i.e. the language in which quest text will be shown.
Server language is the language that is meant to be used in chat, i.e. the language group the server is grouped into during server select. It doesn't have any direct impact on addons (unless you try to parse chat text sent by players) but would be the preferred language to use when you post chat messages that other players will see.

I don't think there is a public API for the realm's official language.
You could however try using Phanx' LibRealmInfo.

I think you're confusing client language and server language.
