Jun 6, 2009So, this might've been asked somewhere else but I can't find it: is Grid going to go away once Grid2 goes GA? I'm not convinced that I'm going to be happy with the new Grid2 and want to see if I need to start looking for a replacement.Posted in: Grid & Grid2
May 30, 2009I'm using 18.104.22.168 and I can't get loggerhead to display in DockingStation (an LDB Client). It's running, because my logs get activated, but DockingStation doesn't seem to recognize it. FWIW, I am running Xloot as well -- is there still a conflict issue there?Posted in: General AddOns
Apr 15, 2009The aggro status (I'm using the "border" as the indicator) seems to be getting stuck since I've upgraded to 3.1. People pull aggro, but then it never resets after the party exits combat. I'm even seeing it when I'm solo.Posted in: Grid & Grid2
I've upgraded to version 1174 on wow.ace.com/projects/grid but it didn't seem to fix it.
Edit: I take it back -- it works much better when you actually unzip the files into the addon folder. =/ Sorry for the false alarm.

I've always wondered this as well. The only thing I could think of is maybe making a "who lives/who dies" decision based on how much mana a dps'er has left?
Personally, I can't imagine running a mod just to make a decision like that that would come up pretty rarely.
Apr 3, 2009This Grid module seems to have vanished. Does anyone know if it's still active anywhere (my searches have all come up empty)? I know there's not much to it, but I find it invaluable when I'm healing and if it's fallen off the face of the earth, I was going to post up my copy of the code (which works fine).Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Apr 3, 2009Looks like Guardian Spirit is in here, but not Pain Suppression. We raid with multiple priests and it would be handy for rotating coverage on the MT.Posted in: Raid AddOns
Edit: nvm, I just realized how simple it is to add it so I did. :)

I do not have a design philosophy to make dumbed down and / or inflexible UI. I can however only deal with concrete issues though, not in vague fears or speculation. So if you think something is dumbed down or less flexible then say what it is so it can get fixed.
Thanks for the link to the project page. I should've checked that earlier but I got linked directly into the discussion and I guess I got caught up in the drama.
Good point -- I'll definitely load it up and give it a spin before passing judgement.

I realize that I'm a little late to the party here, but I've been lurking for some time and using Grid since mid-TBC.
The reason I've suffered through the difficulty of Grid is due to the flexibility. I'd hate to see Grid2 design decisions made because "95% of the people would use it that way." IMO, 95% of the people that use a Grid-like mod are already going to bail and go use something like Healbot or Vuhdo. I use Grid because I'm extremely picky about my UI and am not happy unless I can get it "just so."
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's being said, but seeing Grid "dumbed down" and becoming less flexible whenever there's a conflict would make me sad.
Quote from "Phanx" »I actually think this would be bad. For example, if I want to move something from #4 to #1, instead of just clicking on #4 and clicking the "up" button 3 times, I'd have to click the up button on the 4th row, move the mouse cursor up to the 3rd row, click the button on the 3rd row, move the cursor up to the 2nd row, click the button on the 2nd row. Also, an inline button would need to be smaller than a normal button, making it more of a pain to hit with the cursor.
I agree 100% -- I hate UI's like that.
Edit: I almost forgot my questions: what is Grid's design target as far as performance is concerned? Are you actively trying to improve performance or is that secondary to usability/maintanability? I run on an older system, but tend to overload myself with addons, so I'm always struggling for the right balance between performance and features.
Mar 31, 2008Prior to the patch, whenever I debuffed a target, I had this nice little candybar debuff timer in the lower right-hand part of my screen that showed how much longer the debuffs on my target had left. Really nice to see if I need to reapply DoTs or poison. However, I now have a debuff indicator, but no timer. =(Posted in: AddOn HELP!
The problem is that I really have no idea what addon was providing the timer. I thought it was quartz, but after looking through the config screens, I don't see any options to show that. Frankly, I don't care what I use as long as I find an addon to do it (although it seems a little wasteful to use another addon if I already had one doing it).
Here's what I'm running (this isn't everything, but it's most of the UI stuff):
- X-Perl (was using AgUF, but replaced for performance issue -- don't think that was doing the debuff timer, tho)
- MSBT (was using Parrot, but it's still broken)
- Control Freak
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.
Edit: nvm, my problem went away and for anyone who is wondering, it is Quartz that shows the debuff timers.
Mar 25, 2008I noticed some serious lagging last night as well, but it was in Setthek, not the Kara raid I was planning.Posted in: Grid & Grid2
And strangely, it happened when running back as well -- little "hiccup" like jumps. The other time it happened is right when we pulled a group -- even my mouse started jumping. Made it next to impossible to heal my targets.
FWIW, I was running agUnitFrames + Grid + Clique. I turned off agUnitFrames and it seemed to get better, but didn't go away completely.
Mar 21, 2008Is there any way to set the color on the Custom Timer Bars? They always show up gray for me.Posted in: General AddOns
Since Quartz already has timers, it seems silly to use another mod (GotWood) just to show my totem timers, so I'm trying to get Quartz to handle it for me. (I'm using Numen to actually cast the totem).

an addon message is sent, announcing that [hunter is OoLoS of priest].
the hunter, over on his UI and grid frame, when the addon message is received, will get an indicator on the priest's frame that the priest is out of LoS...
would something like this be useful? do tanks ever consider moving to be in LoS of their healers?
As a priest, I really like this idea. I hate getting LoS errors while the target keeps spamming "HEAL ME!" At least they could then look down while they're corpse running and see the message and maybe be a more aware next time.
