posted a message on simpleMinimap, now with Ace2 goodness
Looking at the addon, Rabbit and others have been the ones who have kept it function for some time now.

I wouldn't expect new features, but for the time being I would expect it to keep working.

There is a difference between feedback, and constant wining and bitching and moaning after they are told the reason's it is like it is.

Once the author says something is like it is for a reason its no longer any kind of constructive feedback. Providing said author with an alternate way to do something that they may have not considered or known could be done is a different case.

Sylv has refuted and given reason for the why's of almost all the changes. At this point unless you can provide concrete example how how it could be different its not feedback.

Feedback is the above few posts regarding the new version, not what most of the posts have been since the add version was released.

There are alot of posts from people complaining about the updater.

There are a lot of posts saying 'what if', 'it should', 'i think'.

There are no posts saying 'This should be this way, because of this, and this is how you can do that [insert link to code, code example, ect].'

Perhaps if people took as much time as they spent bitching about the updater to actually provide working example of how it can be changed it might be.

Its one thing to tell Sylv that it should work 'this way' and expect him to code it up, its quite another to say it should work 'this way and this is how you can do that.'

As I said, if you don't like it, and aren't willing to do anything about it yourself beyond complaining, then just use one of the other updaters.

Using IE (instead of default browser) to open the ads = Bug

Its not a bug. Sylv already posted that IE and FF don't share cookies so if you click on the imbedded IE window add it has to open IE in order to pass the information needed to the advertiser so that wowace gets credit for the click.

I downloaded it from the link but i still cant see it on the svn

The quote clearly implies its not on the SVN, only that he could apply for SVN access and upload it if he wanted it.

I have never seen so much crying and bitching about a FREE and OPTIONAL item that you CHOOSE to use. You have chosen to use this updater out of the myriad that are available. No one is making you use it, you didn't pay to use it, and no one gives a shit if you use it. No one here owes you a damn thing.

That attitude disgusts me as much as the opposing ones. I can't believe anyone could be surprised by the community backlash.

Which part disgusts you? The factually correct part or the factually correct part? No part of that statement is inaccurate or false. ;)

I'm not surprised by the 'backlash' at all, just disappointed by it. All things considered, I really shouldn't be, considering its the typical attitude of a large part of the posters here that they think they are owed something even though they have done nothing to deserve anything.

The simple answer to everyone one of the people complaining here is this:

If you don't like it, don't use it.

If you don't like the direction the project has gone, write your own updater or use one of the other ones.

Choices were made and changes were made and your pissing and moaning does nothing but dishearten people like Sylv who have put in countless man hours of work on this project.

The attitudes in this topic disgust me.

    Infinity Bar =/= Infinibar ?

I only ask because cyCircled has always worked with Infinibar, unless something recent changed to break that.

Are these cool layouts being built with the interface or by coding LUA?

You copy the code posted here and use the import function for the frame you are doing the layout on and paste it into there in game.

Rules are not character profile specific. They are global.

They all start disabled for a new character and a disabled rule is not parsed.

Profiles will allow you to enable rules for each character and set up your bars differently, but you will still see all the available rules you have made regardless of what what character you are on.

I think the current rule sort is based on their priority.

If you set your externals correctly, when you pull down the files with a SVN client you get the current version of all your externals.

When the zip is automagically created for the /files page, it includes all the externals you have set. A new zip is generated for any change to a library, or to the core addon.

Using tortoise, you would edit the properties and set svn:externals. For the property values you would set things like:

    AceAddon-2.0 http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/Ace2/AceAddon-2.0/
    AceConsole-2.0 http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/Ace2/AceConsole-2.0/
    AceDB-2.0 http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/Ace2/AceDB-2.0/

(or whatever SmartRes uses for libraries)
