    posted a message on BadBoy: An extremely minimal spam blocker & reporter
    I'm new to BadBoy. I switched from SpamMeNot because it is not being updated.

    One thing I miss is the ability to see the actual spam message that was blocked/reported. For me, this helps to build confidence in the addon. Is this possible with BadBoy?

    After a quick look at the code, is BadBoyLogger available? If not, can it be?

    posted a message on Shopping for Gems
    siena's Gem Viewer is alive and well as of the 1st of February, 2011! The name has been changed to just Gem Viewer (it was confusing to me that the addon name, addon title, and filenames didn't match).

    I have also added the ability to filter by Required Item Level. Not all of my toons are 85 and I still need gems for item levels below level 285.

    posted a message on Specialty Bag Checker
    Has anyone coded up something using the new 2.4 function:

    bagType = GetItemFamily(itemID | "name" | "itemLink")

    that would tell you how many items you have in your inventory or your bank that would fit into a specialty bag?

    I'm trying to figure out if my engineer's bank would be better off with bigger bags or with an engineering bag.

    posted a message on Code to parse a player tooltip
    Here's what I'm doing in a bit more detail. I'm the author of an addon called PvPLog (hosted at http://www.wowroster.net). When attacked (I know this from the combat log), I'm interested is finding out more about this attacker but since addons can't target anymore (since WoW 2.0), I have to rely on the player either "target"ing or "mouseover"ing to capture data.

    Since the 2.4 combat log now provides the GUID of the attacker and GameTooltip:SetHyperlink("unit:" .. GUID) provides the tooltip, I can gather (limited) data about the attacker without them being the "target" or the "mouseover" (who was that rogue that one-shoted me from behind and then vanished?). This limited tooltip data is all that I need at the moment (level, race, class, guild, title, owner of pet/minion).

    I've written my own "parser" for the enUS tooltip but this isn't going to work for my international users. I was hoping to find some code that had already been written and localized.

    Brad

    You don't need to parse the tooltip for that information, you can just use e.g. UnitName("mouseover"), UnitClass("mouseover"), and others listed at http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft_API#Unit_Functions

    Unless you didn't get the tooltip from a mouseover...

    I got mine from "GameTooltip:SetHyperlink("unit:" .. guid);"

    posted a message on Code to parse a player tooltip
    I'm looking for some code that parses the tooltip you get when you mouseover or select another player. In particular, I'd like to get the name, title, guild, level, race, and class from the tooltip.

    Can anyone point me to some existing code or library that does this?

    Thanks,

    Brad

    PallyPower r59082:
    - Added PallyPower:SavePreset("name") and PallyPower:LoadPreset("name") functions to save and restore greater blessing setups. You must be a leader to load a preset.

    I had to time to write any fancy GUI or anything like that, so for now you can use macros like
    /script PallyPower:SavePreset("trash");
    /script PallyPower:LoadPreset("trash");

    to save and restore presets.

    If someone feels like it, please add some nice menu to the assignments window.

    There's already some profile stuff in the options menu but I didn't understand it and could never get it to work. Should these menu items be used to point to this new code?

    It seems reasonable to me.

    I've got another suggestion. If I'm in a raid with another Paladin that doesn't have PallyPower, I'd like to configure their buffs on my screen just to keep track of who is doing what. Even better would be to communicate the slacker's buffs to those other PP users. I can then use the report to let everyone else know who is doing what.
