Most definately.  I would begin designing a pack around it immediately.

Clickbait title?  Just a tad.  However, I do feel like this mod, if it ever did come into existence, would change the face of modded minecraft and open up an entire new world of game scenarios.

The idea would be to allow the combat system of Minecraft to be played similar to the way old school RPGs were.  In most old school RPGs, you wandered around on a "world  map" and would engage in combat in one of two common ways... either random encounters, where your screen just kind of warped suddenly and you were placed into a turn based combat scenario (see Final Fantasy 7)... or where the mobs were visible in the world, but when you came in contact with them, you were then placed into a combat scenario (see Star Ocean).

In minecraft terms, what would this entail?  In simple terms... assuming we took the Star Ocean combat approach... the mobs in the world would just be combat place holders.  The Zombies, for example, would still roam around, or follow you, etc... but when they came in contact with you, you would be warped to a turn based combat scenario.  Maybe there were 3 or 4 Zombies in the vacinity of the one who touched you.... so in your scenario, there are 3-4 zombies you must defeat.

How would scenarios work in a minecraft world?  Well, you could create 1-2 small "dimensions" decorated for each in game atmosphere... the Overworld, Nether, and End.  The dimensions would only need to be like a small 2 chunk size platforms on which the combat can take place.  When the player came into contact with a mob in the overworld, the player would be teleported to a dimension where a combination of enemies were waiting to take their turn in combat with you.  Once combat finished, assuming you were the victor, you get a little victory screen where you are shown the XP and mob drops you received.  Then you are taken back to the Overworld to continue your adventure.

I feel, from my inexperienced POV, that the hardest part of this mod would simply be designing the structure of the turn based system... as in, the menu and abilities the players could select from during combat... the abilities of the different mobs... etc.  The possibilities of this could be endless...

posted a message on Weather Penalties Mod

I would like to see a mod that added penalties for having certain things out in the open.  A lot of people just lay out all their machines and equipment on a platform and call that a "base".  I would like to see a mod that added some more realistic repercussions for this.  For instance... you have your whole EnderIO machine setup sitting out when it rains?... your machines have a chance to short circuit, rust, break.  Your IC2 compactor is outside when it snows?... Well, now it's frozen and needs to defrost for a while before you can turn it on again.   You left your sheep out in a thunderstorm without a roof or shelter... now they are too afraid to breed for two days.  Your food chests were left out in the sun?  Dang, now the chest is filled with "thismod:rottenfood".
