    yes i thought about that aswell, since less people (only the poor officers) would have to take care about their own channel.

    yes, I do know that.

    We use
    * Guildchat-Channel for RP-Communication
    * Officerschat-Channel for the Officerstalk

    So, the problem with the normal additional chat channel is, that everyone can join. This is no solution.
    The Problem with Passwordprotected Channel is, that it is gone when the last guildmember logs out. And tha it then can get hijacked.
    But additionally you couldnt prevent old-guildmembers to enter that channel, when you dont change the password on a regular basis.
    But HOW can you handle to change the password now and then and explain to the members how to enter that protected channel again ? You would have to do it over the INCHARCHANNEL, whats stupid.
    Giving out some kind of macro for all members over a guildsite (with the current password) isnt practical either.

    To sum it up, i have not found the solution to that problem. Unfortunately i am not able to program one :-(

    PrivateChat comes quite close to a solution, with the unprotected Guild-Addon-Channel.
    But as said earlier, Privatechat produces hundreds of errors per session, even if only i have the addon and channel just open.

    Thank you for your answer.
    No, encryption is not vital to me.

    We simply need a second Guild-chat channel, where guildies can read and write, but no others. And of course thats easy to handle, because quite a few dont have any addon.

    i gave PrivateChat an intense look. I still have some questions about it, i created a thread, because there is nothing about it elsewhere. But i think it isnt ready for "public" yet, since i sometimes get tons of errors, which i dont without it.

    concerning PrivateChat i did not find any existing thread. So i hope it is OK to start one.
    What key does it use, when you enter no key ?
    When you enter no key, is it possible to get insite this channel ?

    Would Blizz have something against using this, even when its only used inside guild and without a key (if not entering a key means it is not encrypted.)?

    How probable is it, that this will get banned ?

    I just want to use it for an extra guild-channel.

    I checked, but i cannot say much, because i have no error to report and could drag any frame i found. I have a lot of addons installed and it didnt interfere with any.

    So: good work.

    I will test it without any addon later and will yell when i find something.

    i think there is a demand for such an addon. Since Blizz states that it is unknown if a second guildchat channel will ever come.

    The problem for us is not cross guild-communication. But since it is an RP guild we need an OOC Channel (no selling or 1337 Talk in Guildchat) that is restricted to guildmembers. This should be doable over the new addon channels, i think.

    I think both demands could be integrated in one addon ... does someone has an idea how complex such a task would be ?

    I didnt check, but there is a file textures/AltBG.tga ... i would change that into the color you want and then choose the option BLIZZARD from Baggins ... maybe the edges look strange but ...

    Backup your original file first and take care to use the same color-depth.

    What i didnt dare asking so, far, but now, that the topic came up ...
    For me it isnt that easy, i have to sync *two* different accounts on two computers. What would already help me is a tool, with what i can read (any sort of)LUA files into some sort of database or "Excel".

    Anything like LUA->PHP|CSV|... did not work on the new files.

    I am curious how WOWROSTER is doing the work and for example MOBMAP.

    ONce in a database, i would get along

    Anye help or hint is highly appreciated.

    i liked the concept of ACP. So i tried. Maybe i didnt understand it yet, but: I wanted to have the minimal ammount of addons loaded for my mule. So i disabled all addons with ACP, and then switched those addons on i needed, for example SANITY2. I understood ACP in that way, that all the needed Addons would be activated "automaticly".
    I saved, reloaded (i even restarted) but Sanity (and some others) does not come up.

    Did i do something wrong ? Is this not the intended prupose ?


    P.S. is it of any help, when i tell you, that the "Libs\TableTop-1.0\TableTop-1.0.lua
    " did not get activated ?
