If we assume compression of 9 blocks per one compression level, we get to 9^9 = 387420489 normal blocks' worth pretty quickly. For coal blocks, the burn time is 800, which gives us 387420489*800 = 309936391200 burn time, which is not only equal to 500 years, it's also above the maximum burn time possible, which is 2147483647 (or, if you don't want the Furnace's GUI to break, 32767).

Now, it is possible to work around this by having the item replace itself every 32767 or so ticks. But... that's an ugly workaround, and storing a half-burned fuel item adds additional complications. I might look into this, though. Hm.

https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/preston is the mod I'd add this to, but it doesn't have all the features you kindly demand.

Unfortunately, I do not use Steam.

That could be considered a security liability, not to mention circumventing CurseForge's approval process.

Charset had a feature to play sounds uploaded from your computer in 1.10, but it wasn't strictly noteblock-based. Computronics has had a different implementation of this feature since 1.6.4 - computer-controlled, but that is not available on CurseForge. I plan to work on a better implementation of this for 1.12 in the nearer-to-further future.

If you enable the EXPERIMENTAL profile or the feature alone in the latest 1.12 builds of Charset, said playback functionality is now (somewhat) available, albeit without recipes. Input welcome!
EDIT: I am working on making the 1.12 version available via CurseForge.
