Just updated SpamSentry:
I removed a bug that was very unlikely to ever be seen, but still glad I got rid of it ;-)
Also added compatibility for the Chatter Highlights module; it should now no longer trigger when a spammessage is intercepted.
Last but not least, I hope to have solved the issues that mac-users were experiencing with the included libraries.

I'm currently using WIM 2.4.14 and its to my understanding that it is currently working correctly with spamsentry, however I keep missing the very first whisper from people within WIM; I have to first reply to them before WIM will pop up with our conversation.
Best to first determine wether the problem lies with SpamSentry or another addon. To find out: disable SpamSentry, then check if the problem is fixed. If it is, please let me know and I'll have a good look at both addons. If it isn't; the problem lies with a different addon.
Also, there's a similar thread running on the homepage of WIM, you may want to post there or have a look for suggested solutions.

Kju / Highend: Thanks for the feedback, I've updated the addon to deal properly with this new german gold spam.
Simes / Scrorpie: I don't see any irregularities in either my local svn-settings or on the svn-server. I will contact one of the admins and see if I can figure out what the problem is with the directory-structure in the auto-generated zip-file.

In particular I'd like to see whisp inherit chatter's formatting (class colors, timestamps, etc.) and look and feel (border/background).
Classcolors, timestamps and fonts are easy to take over from Chatter. Border and background is possible but that would pose a small problem as to which borders/backgrounds to inherit: those of the chatframes or those of the editbox? If I am to do inheriting, then prefer to keep it simple without a dozen extra options to choose from :)

Looks like a potential positive replacement for WhisperFu & HeyFu. But its not there yet ;).
--There really needs to be some way of disabling & reenabling the popup chat frame, rather than just being able to resize/move it. A command line command, Warmup options, Blizzard Interface options or so on. As it is, that popup frame is quite inconvenient to deal with.
--This needs improvements in the way the FuBar tooltip displays/records text.
-The conversation text can't be copied to a chat line, which it should be able to be (WhisperFu and/or HeyFu allows this).
-There is a 70 conversation line maximum limit, which means longer conversations aren't recorded properly. As well, at lower display resolutions, the 70 line tooltip extends off the bottom of the screen.
-The conversation tooltip disappears after removing your mouse cursor from the FuBar popup. Which makes reading conversations somewhat difficult.
Whisp is still a work-in-progress, but I think you exaggerating a few things :)
- The popup frame is fully customisable and only lacks two features at this point: an option to disable it (will be added next update) and scrollable text (on my long-term todolist)
- All options are available on commandline by typing /whisp
- Settings will be available from the new Blizzard options box once I find some time to play with Ace3
- There is no real limit to conversation lengths; if you ctrl-click a name in the fubar tooltip it will show all conversations with this character up to a max of 1 month (according to the history-setting).
- The window that shows after ctrl-clicking a name also lets you copy parts of your conversation to the clipboard.
- The preview pane that shows when you hover over a name in the FuBar tooltip is meant for quick reference. If you want to be able to read back/forth through a conversation you can use the ctrl-click feature to show a new window.

Any chance of adding a toggle to change the sorting direction of whisper list? Ie instead of most recent whisper being at the top of the list make most recent be at the bottom. I have it on my bottom fubar.
Good point, was on my todo-list at some point but got lost o.O I'll add it next update.

My babies, will you have them?
Now I just need a way to force Whisp to use my Chatter settings.
Depends on the color of your bits :P
Chatter: I'm starting to fall in love with that one, so yes, I'll look into better hooking.

I'm sorry anea but it isn't working here :/
I can do what I want (resetting, locking, changing grow up / down), after the next login Whisp is no more attached to my input line (position modified by Chatter).
Can you eventually add an option 'Reset anchor position after login / reloadui automatically'? ;)
To ask a very silly question.. did you try it with the latest revision? I uploaded a new one just before the weekend. I had anchoring problems on one character and solved it this way:
- Reset the pane
- Unlock the pane
- Move the pane back and forth a bit, even if it was already on the correct spot.
- Lock the pane again
Really wish that Blizzard had made anchoring work a bit better. If this doesn't solve your problem I'll give up on the Blizzard anchoring and code it myself.

Well, I know this is sort of half the purpose of the mod, but is there a way to not show the popup at all? I'd like to use it just for the fubar dropdown and pop up on hover (on the fubar menu), but not the actual popup when you're replying.
Well... it does indeed defeat the point of half the addon, but it's an easy option to add, so will do so next version.

None were picked up by SpamSentry (what I call as being flagged) and they were all spam.
The default for whisper lvl is set at 1, and I have the whisper lvl restriction on but all came through. All channels are checked.
Right now all the settings for SpamSentry are at the default. When I looked them over it didn't seem that any needed changing. Is there something I should change that I'm missing?
Seems odd that so many spams would get through. Are you using a chataddon like WIM, Cellular, etc? If not, then I suggest to remove all SpamSentry folders and also the file from your saved-variables folder. If that doesn't solve the problem, can you send me a pm with feedback strings from uncaught messages? Instructions on how to do that are in the readme file.
To adress questions about the ignore-by-level function:
On my various test setups it works as intended: messages from characters below the set level are ignored. Spamchecking will always be done, even if the character is ignored via this setting. To test it for yourself:
- Login to an unguilded level 1 character
- Send yourself a whisper
- Change the levelsetting to something where level 1's are ignored
- Send yourself another whisper
- Enable debug from the spamsentry notification options
- If you now send yourself the following testmessage it should be caught as spam regardless the ignore-by-level setting: "Don't buy cheap gold from some website.com."
About the late issue with the new version of WIM: I have updated SpamSentry, and it should be working with WIM without errors again.

Today I got 3 whispers back to back, 2 from the same person, none were flagged.
"None were flagged" is a bit ambiguous... Can you describe what exactly went wrong?
- Were the whispers spam or are you referring to the level-check?
- If they were spam, did they get properly blocked by SpamSentry?
- If they weren't blocked: did you check in the options if all whispers are being monitored by the addon?
Apr 24, 2008I uploaded a new release with lots of new stuff:Posted in: General AddOns
- Added options to skin and customise the pane
- Fixed an issue with the pane resetting it's width
- Messages can now be saved cross-session and cross-character
- FuBar tooltip has now a basic sorting and filtering ability
- Added filtering for some common addon-messages
Some stuff will need some more polising, but I think Whisp is starting to look very much the way I want it to be.

"/spamsentry" will show you the SS options. Just dig in there and you'll find an ignore by level option.
That said, that options hasn't been working for me personally lately. I'm pretty sure I have it turned on and set to 40, but I still see a lot of level 1 whispers, most of which get flagged. I'm not sure if it's an issue on my side or what... I've been too busy to really dig into it.
Last time I checked it was working properly, but I have to admit that that has been quite a while. I will run some tests and get back to you.

Got this error on startup, updated both SpamSentry and WIM today.
WIM has been updated, hence the error. Pazza informed me earlier this week of the upcoming changes, and even send me an update. Unfortunately I have lacked time to test it. I will upload it asap.
Apr 21, 2008Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from highend »Do you think some form of communication is possible between SpamSentry and Chatter that this behaviour can be avoided?
I have just started using Chatter, so I'll look into it. Shouldn't be too hard to add compatibility.
