So, uhm I am following this thread for the last hundred pages or so and I really have to congratulate a lot of people for their *astounding* looking UIs. Some stuff still stays a bit of a mystery for me, but I have been dabbling into customizing my UI a bit, too and would love some contructive criticism on mine... I really love improving it and by now it serves me very well.
Disclaimer: I don't feel the need to see too much of the gameworld thus the fairly large panels behind skills, chat and combatlog among other stuff. Still I am starting on building my UI anew once more and will now give it a try in terms of minimalizing it a bit to speed up log-in time and stuff.
So, first - my UI of the moment: http://i33.tinypic.com/zj6xwz.jpg (please be gentle :) )
This also leads me to my first question in terms of minimizing used space on my screen - in some UI screenies I can see people using one, or maybe two actionbars. How the hell do access the bigger part of your spells and skills? Open spellbook? It is a mystery to me, given my using 6 bars :)
Thanks a LOT in advance for tips and everything :)
One of the big things for me was the ability to bind buttons directly to spells with Bongos. This freed up a ton of space so now I only have a single action bar for some of my unbound spells and also some keybinds I use for different encounters.
Here is my current UI
I don't have a raid shot but if you would like I can post one.
This UI itself borrows heavily from Benea (I used it as a base) and also Ryes for both positioning and what addons to use.
But that looks very good, check out Bongos to kind of reduce your Action bars or try what Benea said and use Mouseover bars also :)
