    posted a message on Can't tag revision

    Hijacking this thread: is there any chance we can see the return of the Tag Repository feature in the web site? I can certainly create tags with my SVN client, but it's more difficult to find the correct URL and make sure I did everything right. The web site version was so much easier. :)

    posted a message on What does "Under review" mean in file list?

    I, too, was wondering about this. Are they really being manually approved? Mine got approved during Thanksgiving, which seemed surprising if it really was manual.

    posted a message on No more project forums?

    Just chiming in here as well. (I had submitted a ticket and was directed here.) For me, the loss of data was a big deal, since I had one post in particular that represented years of information. Luckily, Google had a cache of it.

    Short of having the forums back, being able to create a secondary Page within the add-on would be ideal. This is for a very long FAQ that my add-on Rarity needs. I don't want to put all the info on the main add-on page, but for now I think that's my only solution.

    Thanks!

    Yeah, that's how I found it. Added a check for thrown enchant to Energized.

    GetWeaponEnchantInfo() appears to return 9 arguments now (up from 6), the last 3 being for the thrown weapon.

    I did visit your web site, but it did a poor job explaining what exactly the add-on does. Clicking the screenshots tried to download them to my computer -- so I didn't look at the screenshots. I could honestly do without all the "this is the best addon ever" language on the site.

    Thanks Phanx. I will keep looking at my addons then.

    It's probably whatever minimap add-on you use.

    Quote from Lombra
    I don't think you can pass a name to GetItemInfo unless the item is in your inventory.

    Correct.

    This function will ONLY retrieve data if the item is in your bags or on your character sheet (being worn).

    posted a message on UnitBuff() help
    Without looking at the code extremely carefully, I notice that "UNIT_PLAYER" should be "player" on the third line. Also the "event" variable referenced in line 2 is not part of the function definition. You should put local before lines 3 and 4. There may be other issues.

    This has not been thoroughly vetted for accuracy, it merely illustrates the changes I mentioned:
    function FlaskReminder_BuffChange(self, event)
    	if ( event == "UNIT_AURA" ) then
    		local name, rank, icon, count, debuffType, duration, expirationTime, unitCaster, isStealable, shouldConsolidate, spellId = UnitBuff("player", "Flask of Endless Rage")
    		local inInstance, instanceType = IsInInstance()
    		if ( inInstance == 1 and instanceType == "raid" and name == nil ) then
    			FlaskReminder_Frame:Show();
    			FlaskReminder_Frame_Text:SetText("Drink Your Flask!");
    		else
    			FlaskReminder_Frame_Text:SetText("Standby");
    		end
    	end
    end

    posted a message on Forwarding local functions best practice?
    Quote from Torhal
    This is precisely why SetFormattedText() was made - everything is done on the C side to avoid garbage creation.

    Is there a way to leverage SetFormattedText to yield formatted text back to the Lua code without creating garbage? I seem to recall doing an experiment sort of like this earlier:

    do
    	local stringFrame = CreateFrame("Frame")
    	stringFrame:Hide()
    	local fontString = stringFrame:CreateFontString(nil, nil, "GameFontNormal")
    	format = function(s, ...)
    		fontString:SetFormattedText(s, ...)
    		return fontString:GetText()
    	end
    end

    It didn't seem to reduce garbage at all. (This was done in the context of a LOT of rapid string manipulation.)
