maybe this: process localization stuff outside curse and only upload the final zip file to curseforge ?

a bit weird, but it works around the bugged localization build process.

i think this bug might also be related to the bugs where the client switched all by itself to -nolib installation and was also switching on auto-install all by itself from back in November-December 2016.

The client was also re-installing the Ace3 framework in a loop each time it checked for new versions, every 30 minutes (my update check interval from settings)

    see: https://www.curseforge.com/forums/wow-sites/wow-sites-feedback/127433-curse-client-is-installing-nolib-and-breaking?comment=8

(and also see my comment #10 on that same thread.)

could you please add a search field for searching in the comments posted on a project?

    for example Pawn

    https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/pawn

has 180+ PAGES of comments and i can't figure how to find any comments about timewalking except by using the next page button and reading all the comments... all 180 pages of them :(

Please add a search field for the comments section if there are more than 3 pages of comments.

if they really are added then check cloudflare cache settings for the cursecdn domain ... flush/purge the flare cache and try using shorter expiration dates?

    e.g. https://static-elerium.cursecdn.com/1-0-6229-24242/js/core.js

is sending cache expiration headers for 2018:

    Cache-Control:"public, max-age=60480000"

    Expires:"Sat, 22 Dec 2018 19:47:20 GMT"

    https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200169266-Does-CloudFlare-honor-my-Expires-and-Cache-Control-headers-for-static-content-

Does CloudFlare honor my Expires and Cache-Control headers for static content?

Yes, CloudFlare will honor the Expires and Cache-Control headers if your origin server returns them.

posted a message on Curse App UI problems + U2F support soon?

and... i got the most useless ticket reply from Blizzard that i ever saw... i already knew about the system statistics being gathered... but i didn't think they'd dig in down to activating the LED on the key and had hoped for more - that they are preparing the app for FIDO U2F... instead they basically told me to RTFM and ask their legal department via SNAIL MAIL if i want to know more :(

*sigh* there go my hopes for U2F support in BattleNet ... smashed to dust.  i guess the same system-statistics-gathering applies to the Curse App too... no U2F 2-factor auth is coming either?

As stated in our Terms of Use which you agreed when you opened the account

and another update: i now see that the BattleNet desktop app is also causing the LED of the key to blink briefly when i start the app... i wonder if they're also preparing to deploy U2F.

edit: opened a ticket with Blizzard and asked about the LED and possible plans for U2F... waiting for a reply. /edit

the dev tools.. i was a bit surprised about them being available without a command line switch to enable them, but did not consider it a security problem.

also, i was not worried about the key's security as i already knew it requires physical user interaction with the key's capacitive touch sensor. I was more curious about the possible upcoming features in the Curse App, since the app is looking at the key that probably means that communication support with the key is there, ready to be used soon (^TM).

so... does that mean that the Curse network is preparing to deploy support for 2-factor authentication with FIDO U2F anytime soon?

    (hopefully it does.)

    - Chrome and Opera (chromium-based) already support U2F;

    - Firefox already has support via a browser add-on and is scheduled to have full native support for U2F in Q1 or Q2 2017  ( https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/CryptoEngineering ). Firefox already has a native FIDO U2F v1.1 JS API (but without USB comms) present in the current branch, but is not enabled unless you turn it on via about:config... since the browser doesn't support native USB communications yet, the API is only useful for testing the framework so far, with a built-in software token ... Mozilla is still working on this.

    - Microsoft's browsers are a big unknown... they keep promising it but without announcing even a rough time-frame for it.

    and problem #2...

i just realized that Curse App is accessing my Yubikey at startup... the access LED on my key lights up for about 1 second when Curse App starts up and then turns off.  This does not happen when Chrome starts up.

why is the Curse App looking at my U2F security key?

is the Curse App UI supposed to allow users to tinker with things in the UI?

i accidentally pressed F12 in Curse Client and the Chromium Development Tools panel popped open... looks like the Curse App main UI is based on the Chromium browser...

looking into it.. i see that Electron is the actual interface engine, and that is based on Chromium mixed with some other "soup" ingredients.... so...was F12 development tools supposed to be available to regular users?

also... (and coming back to the thread topic), when uninstalling Gatherer the Curse App will remove those folders, even though they are sourced from Auctioneer too.

edit: and it also deleted my SavedVariables for Swatter and SlideBar when i uninstalled Gatherer... fortunately i had made a backup archive before running the tests

    /edit.

posted a message on [Curse App] deleting necessary library

update: took the time to test things...  the overwrite bug is still present. Curse App is still overwriting folders

installing Auctioneer and then installing Gatherer WILL OVERWRITE some folders that are common between these two addons.

This is a comparison of recursive checksums created before installing Gatherer with the file content present after installing Gatherer:

before = Auctioneer - included files

after = files present after installing Gatherer

posted a message on [Curse App] deleting necessary library

    P.S.

i said "almost the same bug" because the old v5 Curse Client would also blindly overwrite folders and files belonging to an addon (in my case it was the 2016 versions of Swatter and SlideBar from Auctioneer) with older versions of those that were delivered with other addons (2014 versions of Swatter, SlideBar from Gatherer - the updated version of Gatherer for Legion was not released at that time. The 2014 one was the most recent.)

since the deletion bug still happens in Curse App, i assume that the folder overwrite bug might also be present too, since they are related... don't have time to test it at the moment though. maybe tomorrow.

the old Curse Client (v5) app had almost the same bug... it nuked shared folders/libraries that were common between different addons:

    http://forums.norganna.org/index.php?p=/discussion/316/uninstalling-gatherer-nukes-swatter-and-slidebar-from-auctioneer/p1

at the time i thought it was a bug with Auctioneer and/or Gatherer

    quotes from march 2016:

using Curse Client, today i decided to uninstall Gatherer but keep Auctioneer Suite... after uninstalling Gatherer and going back into WoW i found that Swatter and SlideBar have also been nuked, even though they are components of Auctioneer

digging deeper into this i discovered that Gatherer also includes them as components and Curse Client uninstalled them because it considered them as belonging to Gatherer rather than to Auctioneer Suite. They both contain different versions of Swatter and SlideBar... and whichever gets installed last will overwrite the other one's files.

    i see.. you're right.

even though the zip files are different, after extracting them both and doing a recursive sha-256 sum compare... the files from both archives are identical.
