it's almost 24 hours now since i uploaded a new zip release (it was approved), made changes to the overview description page and uploaded new screenshot images so that the description and the images match the current release.
none of these changes have been synced to curse.com (or the app) yet. :(
edit: it has now been synced. What was the size of the boot that was needed to kick it into action? :p /s
well, i don't remember ever seeing that notification text before the sync hiccups started to happen at the end of August. I saw it today and i thought it was something that was changed recently due to the issues.
I think that Curse's notification text is pretty clearly intended to mean Alphas will never sync, no matter what settings the user makes in the client app. That notification text does not leave room for any user choice in this matter, so.. *headscratch*. Maybe it's a translation issue?
Also, DBM is still publishing alpha updates and they arrived via the app even today, so i was puzzled there.. why are some alphas still synced even with that notification there?
i usually upload my zip releases first as Alpha versions, wait for them to be synced to the app, test how they update and if the checksums of the files are preserved (because Curse has a history of altering the files inside the uploaded zip file) and only then after these tests i edit the uploaded file and change the type from Alpha to Release.
Today i noticed that the following warning has appeared on the file upload page so i had to upload my zip file as Beta instead.
Alpha files will not sync to the Twitch Desktop app or mods.curse.com.
It seems that Alpha versions are terminated from the Twitch App as addon sync of alpha versions has been permanently stopped.
They will probably remove soon the "Alpha" addon version option from the App too - it's still there but apparently it now does the same thing as "Beta".
would it be possible to tweak the layout on curseforge so that on the left of the small envelope icon on top-right the site shows the timestamp (UTC) of the last successful sync job (either automatic or manual) and the current status of it? - running/waiting for next scheduled time/crashed/ssl cert expired/etc.?
Just so we don't wait around wondering what's going on
and only show this info on mods.curseforge, not on curse.com
odd thing is.... pretty much all issues started on August31st/September 1st, as if someone suddenly pulled a plug on the company and we haven't had any official statement from Curse / Twitch staff about this.
I have 80+ addons installed (not all enabled though) and i hate having to manually check EACH of them because of this Twitch App bug
is there any usable alternative to the Curse/Twitch app that uses data from curseforge?
i thought of Wowmatrix as a possible alternative but after looking into it i don't like it - their site downloads and runs binary exe files over a plain http:// link even if the web site itself is served via https - their exe files are not even signed digitally and can be intercepted and replaced or injected with malware on-the-fly = they provide the perfect attack vector for infecting PCs
and after posting the issue i saw a typo in the comment that i wrote and edited the text. After saving the edit .. *poof* the issue disappeared. i'm getting an error message instead:

i sync WoW addons between 2 computers (desk and laptop) using Dropbox... on my laptop the Collectinator addon shows as Modified even though it's not.
on the desk computer i even forced a manual reinstall of the Collectinator addon and it still shows as modified in curse client on my laptop...
I used a recursive SHA-256 checksum of the files under /Addons/ on both my computers, the checksums of all the files match to the last bit but the Curse app on laptop still shows Collectinator as modified.
i submitted bug reports from the curse app on both my desktop and my laptop.. but the app has no support for attaching screenshots so here they are.
edit: forced a reinstall of the addon on laptop by clicking on the Modified button and the app basically re-installed the exact same addon.
I verified the recursive folder checksum after the app finished, no file has changed and the recursive file checksum is the same as before - the only thing that changed is that now curse displays the correct addon version.

copyright law usually says that the protection time limits are life of author + 70 years after that.
This time length varies by country but is usually around 50/70 years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries'_copyright_lengths
The law also applies to "All rights reserved" addons.

changed thread title to add project issues and added another comment bump (this one)...
we also need a search function for issues too, some projects' authors leave tickets open for years and they keep stacking up...
Altoholic, for example, currently has 6 pages of open issues: https://wow.curseforge.com/projects/altoholic/issues
(39 pages if you also include closed issues)

note: the addon has been updated again and fixed

when upgrading to this version is now force-installing a version of Pawn-RU from 2012 but is generating LUA errors in current WoW 7.2
