    posted a message on new to svn!
    Quote from vampirictorch
    hello, I am new to svn and i can not seem to upload my updated dungeonmate addon, by the looks of it svn is similar to ftp which i have a lot of experience with, but I have never used svn, i have smartsvn and tortoisesvn if that helps better understand what type I use or have, every time i try an do an upload on my svn up-loader name, it gives me an error saying "Unknown hostname 'svn.wowace.com'"

    Each addon has its own SVN URL. Click the "Repository" tab on your addons page.

    posted a message on Cannot copy table data
    Quote from mgaiser
    There is a whole drawn out story, but the basics come down to this

    DB.profile.data[newKey] = DB.profile.data[oldKey]
    DB.profile.data[oldKey] = nil
    DB.profile.data[newKey] now is nil.

    Is there another way to do this? I basically am just trying to switch the key in the database but the way I am doing it is destroying my data. Any ideas?

    Tables are passed by reference.
    A = {}
    B = {}
    B = A
    print(A == B)

    That said, knowing what your values are at data[newKey] and data[oldKey] would be a great help.

    Edit: If you're trying to sort the table, use sort.
    If you are moving stuff around, use a temporary table; otherwise, you'll have all kinds of trouble.

    Well, since he posted in one of the forums you see when you visit the forums via wowace.com, I figured it would be more sensible to move him to another wowace.com forum rather than a curseforge.com forum.

    Fair enough.

    Quote from Phanx
    I still have yet to hear a single good reason why the Curse people think having 1.5 sets of forums split unevenly across two domains is anything other than an absolutely horrible idea.

    I couldn't agree more. And it's actually three domains and 2.5 sets of forums (assuming you mean that two linked forum sets on two domains with separate lists of sections and forums and different themes depending on which domain equals 1.5 sets of forums). Curse.com also its own unlinked set of forums.

    Edit: Sorry about derailing this thread...

    Back on topic: @Topher84Chris: If you expect people to give you addons like addons from another game, you should link the addons in question.

    Also...

    1. Wrong forum. Please read the forum descriptions before posting new threads in the future. The Raid AddOns forum is for official threads about specific addons. I've moved your post to AddOn Ideas.

    Shouldn't this be in AddOn Requests and Ideas?

    Do yourself a favor and quit using table as a variable name.

    Also, I don't know where you're getting table.count from.

    posted a message on Is there a simple inspection tutorial somewhere?
    Quote from andr0id
    In theory, I understand how NotifyInspect() and the INSPECT_READY event work, but I'm not seeing much info about how to implement it.

    What I want to do is really simple, I just want to get the mainhand weapon ID of each member in my party or raid. So once my party is populated, I send them all off with a NotifyInspect()

    local db = {}

    for i = 1, 4 do
      local m = "party" .. i
      NotifyInspect(m)
      db[UnitGUID(m)] = {}
    end

    ... set up a frame and register for INSPECT_READY...
    ... set my frame script to this handler function:

    function EventHandler(frame, event, unit)
    if event == "INSPECT_READY" and db[unit] then
       local class, classFilename, race, raceFilename, sex, name, realm = GetPlayerInfoByGUID(unit)
      local id =  GetInventoryItemID(name , INVSLOT_MAINHAND)
      db[unit].id = id
      local weaponname = GetItemInfo(db[unit].id)
      print(weaponname)
    end

    but this doesn't seem to work consistently in a cross realm party. I do see the weaponname print, but not for everybody in the party.

    What do I need to use for the first arg to GetInventoryItemID?

    It appears the GUID doesn't work.
    Name sometimes works but not consistently.
    Do I need to build a name+realm string or refererence back to my "partyN" unit ID? I could save that in db if I needed to retrieve it.

    I'm jumping into Brewfest randoms every 10 minutes to test this, but not making much progress...

    Thanks for any help!

    You're telling your code to dump all 4 party members into NotifyInspect() then waiting for NOTIFY_INSPECT. You need to wait for NOTIFY_INSPECT in between each party member.

    posted a message on SendChatMessage: Same Party, Different Realm?
    Doesn't GetUnitName() return the properly formatted name including realm and no realm or "-" if from the same realm?

    E.g.
    local chatName = GetUnitName("unit"):gsub("%s", "") -- remove all the spaces

    If you expect anybody to take over and fix an addon, you need to provide as much detail as possible. E.g. error message, what doesn't work, etc.

    Quote from Ketho
    Not sure if that would be it, but you're redefining the db upvalue another 2 times on line 52 and 1509

    I don't know much about modules though, or if it's supposed to be like that :s

    All three "local db" lines are in separate files.

    Not seeing the db in line 52 and 1509.
    It's probably because you put all three files in the same pastey.

    Edit: I'm sure Ketho meant lines 152 and 1509 of the original pastey.

    Quote from Twister
    Also, "." is not part of a number to be captured with "%d".
    Im not using a %d in my pattern to capture anything?!?
    (.+) should match all text that the gameclient filled the $vars with. So for the dmg potion of the spell this is only a number, but for the duration this is a number, that could contain a "." (or "," depending on Localisation) and has a localized string for seconds in it.

    I said that because I was unaware that GetSpellDescription() was part of the WoW-API and didn't know what it returned. Now it all makes sence. :) ... Except for the coding...

    Edit: I just noticed that your patterns for the two fails contain percent symbols while the successful one does not. I suspect this to be your problem. Add another gsub() to escape those (e.g. string.gsub(pattern, "%%", "%%%%") -- I know, it's so gratuitous).

    string.gsub(string.gsub(x, "(%$o1)", "(.+)"), "(%$d)", "(.+)")
    ^ Change all instances of "$o1" to "(.+)" then change all instances of "$d" to "(.+)". I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish with this.

    Edit: Also, "." is not part of a number to be captured with "%d".
    Edit2: And where's the rest of your code? GetSpellDescription() doesn't exist.
    Edit3: Lastly, that's the worst implementation of anything ever. You're leaking globals and making new tables and functions every time GetSpellVars() is called.
