The new oRA2 is still in beta, if you don't like it you can go back to using the FuBar one.

will there be a FuBar plugin for this new version?

    just so i know :)

posted a message on WTF just happened?
Ace was popular because of the SVN web interface ( the files.wowace.com page) and only after for the WAU. that;s what made u known among wow players.
u guys closed down both. and are now driving all u;r users away with u;r patronizing attitude.

if u don;t want ppl to use your addons, just say so. and close down the Ace site. because without the SVN and the WAU, the Ace brand will slip into legend.

posted a message on Explanation of why change was needed
just my 2 cents about why WAU is needed (not just for power users):
there are some addons that NEED to be as up to date as possible.
    First and foremost... Omen.
    Second.. BigWigs, Recount.

A lot of people chose to use WAU and the inherent instability of beta addons, because of these addons that need to be up-to-date..and are allways in flux. It;s ok to raid with out of date action bar addon or unit frame addon. But u need Omen and BigWigs to be as new as possible.

And WAU was the only option.

there is an addon that does exactly this. called "gogomount"
also makes a keybind for mounting so no macro/action bar button is needed

well, what has occured is seperation and map independance.

GatherMate, replaced all the previous plugins and works with any map mod.
HandyNotes replaced all the note part in cart and is independent of map mod.
    Routes .. same deal

I myself would much rather use a dedicated and standalone feature that works with any map rather than trying to wedge it all into 1. And being independant i can mix and much as I wish.

sure..this would be ideal IF they were all made by the same person. or group collaborating between them.

as an example, i installed mapster + tomtom. and they both provide coordinates on the map. one had to be turned off. - this is just a small incompatibility example.

i still believe that a framework is better for interoperability (like how java and .net have conquered the market and programming from zero in C++ is just not "in fashion" anymore :p ).
but a good framework, that is intended from the design point for plugins, not like Cart2 that was tacked on later.

    anyway, just my thoughts.

those are valid points. and if Cartographer(2) is broken beyond repair, a new one should be written (never tried Cart3 but i;ve heard bad things about it)

but in the end... different ppl need different things from a map addon. And if there need to be different addons for each use, those need to work togheter.
Isn;t it better for a framework with plugins (like Cart2 is / used to be) as opposed the stand-alone addons that HAVE to work togheter.. and only bring bigger issues of compatibility?

I haven't seen it mentioned but my backpack seems to be larger than my other back slots / quiver.

Is this by design, because I used an older version and upgraded or did I miss something? :)

yup..i have the same problem on the PTR. main backpack is of normal size, the rest are ~80% scaled down

is this by design or a bug?

ok.. so why is Cartographer abandoned?
it seems to me that it;s a very appreciated addon and still has a ton of use (as opposed to installing 5+ other addons to do almost the same job)

i;m quite disappointed that Cartographer is no longer developed. It was a very popular addon with a ton of users.
Is there a reason it was suspended? would fixing it for WLK be such a pain?

any other addon (or combination) that provides zone info, guild positions, waypoints, coordinates, instance maps, instance loot, raid and BG coloring, mining and herb node traking, user notes, window drag+ resize + transparency ?

if not, Cartographer should be ported to WLK even just for legacy and not improved after.

I searched this forum and couldn;t find any word about cartographer and the next expansion.

is this addon still being developed?
is there a WLK / PTR 3.0 compatible version?
will there be cartographer for WLK?

    thanx
