Newest screenie. Broke off from the dark blue gradients into a black/grey velvety sort of thing ...
I've been tempted lately to dip into the realm of creating my own ouf layout ... something a little more cubed than the traditional long bar. Still pondering.
Okies. I got to fiddling with it again. Instead of the navy and sky blue, I'm going with more of a slate grey thing. The tooltip layout still needs work, as does the minimap (I think). And I believe I'm going to pare down the number of buttons I have. I'm a Clicker, but even I think I have too many at the moment. Maybe.
I went through a long-ish period of constantly changing my UI around. I realized that I've not fiddled with it in a long while ... so I guess I've settled into it ;)
I dunno ... I was really happy to trade in my old Sun 22" CRT for the monitor I currently have. LG 20" Widescreen. Got it new from NewEgg for $150 no shipping. Description reads as: LG W2052TQ Black 20" 2ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 10000:1 w/ HDCP Support
I like LG monitors, they seem to be easier on my eyes. Samsungs are pretty high on my list, too. I'm sure there are better monitors out there, though. I'd really encourage anyone in the market for a monitor to at least take a glance through NewEgg and see what kind of deals they might have going on at the time.
I've been keeping an eye on them recently, as the boyfriend is due to get his replaced soon. "He" thinks his old CRT is just fine ... "I" say he needs a new one for his birthday :)
Rhaethe, you must be near-sighted. It's common for the eyes to become far-sighted as you age, which for some people means their vision gets "better". Those of us with astigmatism are the ones that have to get bifocals instead because our near-sightedness is an eyeball shape problem instead of a lens problem, and we end up being nearsighted and farsighted at the same time :\
I am near-sighted, yep. I do have "some" astigmatism in the left eye but not enough to warrant any special correction outside of the left lens prescription being one "step" stronger than the right.
It'd make you a much calmer person. Contact wearers always are... when the first thing you do every day is poke your eyeball, yea...
Heh. I'm not sure why, but I am reminded of the first time I was prescribed contact lenses. I was 10 or 11, and my glasses had gotten to the point where the sheer weight of them was causing problems with my nose and ears. I don't remember quite exactly the reasoning, but the doc at the time said, "Contacts are the only solution at this point". So I got them.
When I returned to school with my new contacts, I became a mini-celebrity ... The Girl Who Can Touch Eyeballs
On a less silly note, learning to care for contacts at the age that I did instilled a certain sense of responsibility and care ... I think a good thing.
My last visit to the eye doctor produced an interesting result. Throughout my life, my eyesight has gotten increasingly worse. Once reaching my mid twenties, it wasn't a fast decline, but it still declined. Once I hit my early 30's it stabilized.
Now, my vision appears to be "getting better", and I'm needing a lesser prescription than I did last year and the previous years. Weird stuff.
He's looking for someone who speaks Spanish so that he may ask them questions about addons in general, not to just talk with them about goings on. He's not sure if it's against the rules or not to post in another language, hence the mentioning of using PM/MSN instead.
Basically he's looking for someone bilingual that can help answer his questions about addons.
That's what I got out of it, as well. It's a reasonable thing to ask. Especially since conversations of bugs / addon behaviour / etc are often best understood in the language you are most familiar with
Alternatively, if there is an addon site geared for Spanish users, he might opt for that instead. I don't know of any, however.
The chat frame is the only one that gets a touch blurry at times ... although if I put a backdrop behind it, it gets clearer. I have that problem with all the fonts in the chat frame though.
I am toying with the idea of swapping to Papyrus like font.
edited to add: Just tried papyrus, and didn't like it much.
Just installed this last night, and have found that the clock display, although toggled to to Show:Never, will reappear after /reloadui and upon login. Reclick Show: Never, and it dutifully stays gone until the next login or ui-reload.
Now, I have read through this thread and I looked through the other addons I have to see if there's a conflict somewhere, such as two addons that control the clock. However, the full extent of the enabled addons I have are as follows:
Now, I don't believe any of those touch the clock, but tomorrow I'll go through the process of disabling things one by one to see if the behaviour persists.
As a note, the Critmeister button moves itself back to its original position at /reloadui and login, although it dutifully keeps Show:Hover between sessions. The Dominos, Calendar, Tracking, and other buttons behave just fine.
Me: Honey, I've got you on auto-follow
Him: Ok, what's up?
Me: Nothin' ... just need to fiddle with my alpha settings on this thingie's gradient
Him: You and your fiddling. Fiddle fiddle fiddle *laughs*
I had to giggle. :)
Now, if only I could find a mod that will capture my mincromenu and bag bar into minimap buttons that SexyMap will recognize.
Well, I don't think I was inspired by anything in specific. It's definitely a work in progress. Of course, my interfaces (regardless of game) always tend to be such. I just fiddle fiddle fiddle ;) I've also always been a clicker. Some commands I can do my keystroke, but not many, and I tend to be faster with the clicking then if I try to fumble with keys. I like to mostly localize my view to one area, so I don't have to look all over.
I scrounged through some old screenies, and I found the above to be mostly true, regardless of game. In EQ1 I stuck everything at the top .. EQ2 and other games after got the bottom treatment.
I just got a new monitor yesterday, so I'm not quite sure what to do with the room. Leave it spacious I think. The at rest/grouping screen doesn't have the art stuck around the chatwindows yet, as it is in the combat screenie.
I am unsure if I like the art or not. Comments and suggestions on things to add/get rid of are welcome.

Sorry about the late response ... been taking care of sick ones in the household.
I use rActionButtonStyler with a skin that I adapted from some graphics used in Caellian's oUF layout.

Interesting.
What would be the recommended setting for both a good-looking game world and UI?

That would be cyCircled Vol. Works quite well with rActionButtonStyler, though I had to rename a couple files.

Once I get home from work, I'll fire up WoW and see exactly where.
