posted a message on KTM/Threat Meters for Ace?
Currently raiding as a shadow priest, previously as main healer.

My take on KTM is that its a measure of how hard your tank is working. Without it, its hard to see how good/hardworking your tank is. DPS will naturally throttle back to avoid pulling aggro, but without KTM its hard to guestimate who's fault the pulling aggro was.

Over time, the data that KTM shows you on the threat generated by the tank really helps to demonstrate who should probably be the MT, when several are competeing for the spot.

Without a mod like KTM, too many other variables will exist over time as to the success/failure or degree of sucsess/failure of any given raid. Tank A may be an inferior tank to Tank B, but Raid A may have just been a better raid, than Raid B, using KTM as a way to look at TPS, you should be able to distinguish very quickly which tanks are doing their job fully.

Other than that, its sitting there and running, but I almost never look on it. I glanced at it on the 3rd evocation on Curator, because I asked for wisdom instead of salvation [as a test] and wanted to see my threat generation during the evocation, without salvation up.

In general, its a tool like many others. *shrugs*

My guild does not require it. Although, not installing it is like refusing access to available information, which can potentially make a difference. I don't mind it one way or the other.

I don't know if this is a prat error or not, but I've never had this problem before.

I figure prat may be the culprite

the 'enter' key is no longer opening the edit box for chat.

Any ideas as to why that may be?

Quartz is really slick! One thing I really, really miss from eCastingBar, though, is that it would pick up the Dhask's FlightMap timer bar. For some reason I get a default Blizz UI bar for that when running Quartz.

Edit: Here's a link to FlightMap: http://www-en.curse-gaming.com/downloads/addons/map/flightmap/ (latest version is under Beta)

ToFu + chronometer does that for you. just in case you were already running chronometer

this version is really cool, using it until some days. i'd just apreciate a reminder when buffs are about to expire, a sound and someting written in the error frame.. i'd really love if warnings are automatically write in party chat if i cant cast them myself.. do u remember buff options? :D

I second (okay, third) this idea. I liked this about CT_BuffMod as well. The audio cue has been invaluable to me in the past and is the one big thing that would ever bring me to consider switching back. My most difficult problem leveling as a paladin hasn't been knowing which buffs I already have, but knowing which buffs I'm currently missing because I wasn't looking at this bar when the duration expired.

Either way, great work. Keep it up!

I also would like to request this feature. For longer duration buffs etc...

Also, is there a way to make buffs resort based on bar length? Longest bar on the bottom [or top]?

    tuller's mods rock :)

exceptions in the case that I like a non-Ace addon better (such as MetaMap, Lootlink, TipBuddy).

    have you checked out
    Cartographer
    KC_Items
    TinyTip?

with carto & kci you can just delete/turn off whatever features you dont want. kci is a way better lootlink type mod, plus it comes with a sellvalue thing. i use kci + auctioneer + bagnon. in kci i just turn off auction and gear/inv/bank remembering stuff and let auctioneer & bagnon handle it.

i looked at metamap before too but cant recall exactly the reasons why i chose cartographer instead.

Yes, that's why I mentioned those 3 addons: they have Ace alternatives that I tried and didn't like as much.

    Since it's my thread, I'll go off-topic:

Cartographer versus MetaMap: I can't really remember specifics, but I tried Cartographer not long after 2.0 and it was either missing some essential features from MetaMap, or didn't implement them in a way that I liked. I also have a huge database of useful MetaMap notes and gathering nodes built up that I could never replicate. I'm pretty sure Cartographer had major problems with Dhask's FlightMap as well.

ItemSync versus LootLink: Pre-2.0 I was a staunch ItemSync supporter. However, it took a long time to resurface after 2.0 and I couldn't live without an item database addon. Now I can't live without the whisper lookup feature in LootLink, so it's a clear winner for me.

TinyTip versus TipBuddy: After 2.0, I explored every since tooltip addon I could get my hands on. TipBuddy won out due to a good combination of tooltip info and especially cursor anchoring options (you have no idea how many tooltip addons provide only a single anchor point for cursor-anchored tooltips! Terrible! I don't remember where TinyTip is on this though). The only thing I would like that TipBuddy doesn't do it tooltip alpha.

Cartographer vs. Meta Map is basically a memory issue.

Meta Map using alot, Cartographer not using alot.

If you started using right around 2.0 I'm pretty sure that you used a very very very early version of what is now a very robust mod.

That and you can d/l database information which populates your herb/mining with ALL nodes, not just ones you've picked so far.

I use LTD for the tooltip, and hated tiny tip. I don't use any item link db thing. Memory waste for the most part. I do miss it sometimes though.

Is there a way for the actionbar information to display total average dmg? for abilities that crit, their 'average' dmg will be higher than just the average dmg they can do.

Or, is there a way to see this in the mouseover tooltip?

    Loving this mod. Thanks alot.

It worked briefly for 2 spells, then stopped working for everything else.

this is the last line in the macro, right?

    I have a question/request.

I'd like the bar fill to dynamically change based on the longest buff currenlty on me.

So basically, buff duration could be ballparked at a glancce [have hour long buff on, so buff is 1/4 left, and therefore 15 down.

I'm looking to have a way to make all buffs stairstep in their apperance.

currently a 10 min buff looks like it has a longer duration than a buff with 20 minutes on it, merely because the 10 min buff is 'full' and the 20 minutes is 2/3 gone.

first of all, the "usually blue ones from buffs" is only subjective since internaly they are all the same ^^

Do they go from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen? Or do they simply extend to the right? In the latter case I think I know what's causing this: there width is being set tu 0 and WoW freaks out on that... :/

I can't even answer this question. its fraction of a second apperance on my screen happens fast enough that I can't talk with any great authority on it.

If I had to guess it would be a flash that started on the left side of my screen, and then went to the right. My buffs are on the right,. Its just a guess though. I might be wrong about how they look.

Alright, I added support for 2.1's target buff/debuff times. Fun thing is that it affects every unit, not just the target. There's options to show how much time is left on the auras or to show the cooldown spiral. Check the options in the global settings menu.

For WoW 2.0, this will work for the player, but for no one else. For WoW 2.1, it'll work for everyone.

    you are a god.

Mirror bar is planned, target and focus bars are likely (it's modular, after all!)

*Gasp* already stated... and on this page even!

;p you are all thread nazis!

But yeah. Sounds great, following this with anticipation.
