May 26, 2009Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from lilsparky<snip>i plan on doing a from-scratch tradeskill mod at some point, so i'll keep these suggestions in mind.
Would be good to see a current, up-to-date, and actively maintained trade skill addon. That in mind, I noticed that clicking the link to for the Skillet clone to "Install via the Curse Client" uses the same URL as Skillet's URL:
May 12, 2009Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from JnclI don't put a 'skinned' frame there as there isn't one visible with the 'unskinned' version of ARL.
I suppose it's possible I'm using the word "frame" incorrectly. There is this thing in ARL (which I'll call 'The Thing' for now) that is visible when Skinner isn't loaded. But once you load Skinner and copy the ARL related .lua into SkinMe, The Thing becomes invisible.
I took two screenies
Skinner_Disabled_ARL.jpg shows ARL with Skinner disabled. The Thing is visible.
Skinner_Enabled_ARL.jpg shows ARL with Skinner enabled. The Thing is invisible.
The Thing doesn't appear unless you click on one of the filter option buttons (e.g., "General" or "Obtain" or "Binding" etc.) It may be worth noting that depending upon which category you're clicking, The size of The Thing changes as some option lists are longer than others (e.g., "General" is smaller than "Binding", iirc.). You'll see what I mean if you run ARL and open those options.
Quote from Jncl
Mapster uses the WorldMap frame which is already skinned. Which bits of Mapster aren't skinned ?
Looks like the entire border area of Mapster, except for a panel along the top where you have some settings and options. But the frame around the bottom where coordinates are displayed, as well as along the sides and parts of the top, are completely invisible.
Screenies for Mapster:
Skinner_Disabled_Mapster.jpg shows what things look like without Skinner enabled.
Skinner_Enabled_Mapster.jpg shows what bits of the map frame border get all invisible and such with Skinner enabled.
I suppose it's possible it's a settings problem, where I think I've got all the default blizz UI stuff enabled for Skinner, but I don't. I'll look again.
[I had to aggressively crop and go nuts with JPEG compression to get the Mapster screenies in compliance with forum attachment limits. If they're unclear or you have questions and need to see full screen shots, let me know and I'll find alternative hosting for the images.]
May 10, 2009Skinner for AckisRecipeList may need an update (see attached zip for a JPG shot with pretty arrows, descriptive text, and such).Posted in: General AddOns
Summary: There's a frame that appears if you drill down the Filter options in ARL that appears with no background when skinned. [Update: This is the same issue Pompachomp mentions above in the last line of his post.]
Separately, Mapster, while I don't see a Mapster.lua in Skinner's folders, appears to want to be skinned by Skinner. I'm not sure why. I would want it supported by Skinner, if that's a viable option. Otherwise, I think what's happening is Mapster (maybe) uses Blizz resources, and so perhaps Skinner is catching those - but not the Mapster-specific bits of it's frames.
Finally, thanks for the super-quick fix relating to my prior posting.
May 10, 2009I spend a lot of time on Ackis' ticket page. I don't know what that means.Posted in: General Chat
Anyway, I note that I end up with the worst, most user-unfriendly UI element ever invented - namely, the evil horizontal scroll bar (ofc!) in my browser.
And it's because the Ticket Filter page widgits are lined up like ducks in a horizontal row. I would like to request that a website cowboy come in and wrangle that page back into submission so that I/we can forever burn horizontal scroll bars from this site.
See attached for an indication of both the issue and a couple of solutions that may work. (Had to .zip it up so you could see the details/text. It's a PNG.)

Nov 9, 2008Auctioneer is probably more modular in it's design than Skinner accounts for.Posted in: General AddOns
For example, the introduction of an optional AH frame (Simple Auction / "Post" tab) results in a Skinner error if a user does not have that part of the addon suite enabled.
I've edited the error for purposes of brevity and readability, but if you need additional information, please let me know.
The component of Auctioneer in this specific case is Auc-Util-SimpleAuction. There are other components of Auctioneer's suite that create or modify frames, but aren't strictly required. Thus, some users (such as myself) may disable (or just delete) the folder or sub-folder relating to that part of the set.Error occured in: Global

(tail call): ?
A possible list of components for Skinner to consider as optional in Skinner's AucAdvanced.lua would be a subset (only those components that create or modify frames) of the delta between the components included in the full package "AuctioneerSuite" (what most users download from norganna, wowinterface and curse), and the stripped down version "Auctioneer" available only at norganna's site: http://auctioneeraddon.com/dl/#release
Separately, and just as a head's up:
Auctioneer is transitioning to a different library to manage it's tooltip functionality. At some point in the future, EnhTooltip may be deprecated in the release builds of Auctioneer, in favor of a pair of libraries:
Read more about that here: http://forums.norganna.org/discussion/8827LibExtraTip
I don't know how this impacts Skinner (if at all), beyond perhaps eliminating the need to account for EnhTooltip.
