Sep 18, 2009I'm sure this is because v4 is still in beta and undergoing a lot of changes. That's how beta software works. v3 has been in release for quite a while, so it's not undergoing changes anywhere near as frequently. When it does, it still needs to update the entire client.Posted in: Need Help?

You can do this by either right clicking the game in the sidebar and selecting Options, or selecting the Options from the Tools menu and clicking the Games tab. Just set your preferred type, and click Reset All.
Aha! I must've missed the "Reset All" button. I found the set preferred type, which I set, but that didn't change existing addons. Thanks!

AddonSync in its first version is intentionally simple to setup and use. It will currently only synchronize the addons you have installed between two or more computers (or two ore more installs of WoW, on the same computer). In the future, we may consider syncing modifications, but that is a level of complexity we're not comfortable adding for this release.
Ahh, sounds like a great idea! I'll probably never use it, but I can see how a lot of people would. Will it save SV files as well as the addons, or just the addons?
I still like my idea of keeping modifications....
Quote from Tristanian »CC4 does warn you if an addon designated as "Modified" is about to be updated (it basically reinstalls it, nullifying your changes in the process). I'm not sure if this happens if you use the "Update All" button, but it certainly happens if you use the "Get" button, individually.
Yeah, this is CC3's behavior, which I assumed was still here. I was actually referring to the case where it appears CC4 isn't sure if this folder is associated with that addon, in which case it gives you 2 choices: Ignore or Reinstall. The versions match exactly, so while I'll go ahead and save my folder, reinstall, then toss the new folder for my saved one, having it just associate would be good. Of course, the same thing will apply for unrecognized addons once that feature comes along. Now that I think about it (having just had my coffee :) ) this is much more minor than I originally thought. It's a one-time thing, so definitely not a big deal.
Sep 15, 2009Okay, sat down and just spent 20 minutes or so trying to put together a review. Let me know which of these things you'd like me to file a ticket/bug report on.Posted in: Updaters
Remembering back to when I installed CC v3, you're probably right that more addons are recognized by v4. I basically reinstalled all my addons when I (hangs head) dropkicked the evil Keanu Reeves installer. I PM'ed you my current addons. The ones it didn't recognize at all (which CC3 does) are:
The 3 addons it lists as unconfirmed are BasicBrokers*, BetterInbox, and ItemLevelDKP*.
* These 5 are the addons CCv3 lists as modified, which they are.
Spending more time with v4 today, I now realize that the addons v4 didn't think had updates were set to use Release, while v3 is set for beta or alpha versions. That'd explain that complaint. Sorry!
Having the option to confirm an addon without the client re-installing it would be really nice. I don't remember if CCv3 did this or not.
Listing and opening installation folders is something v3 does which I couldn't find in v4. This is very important to me.
Listing unidentified addons is also a crucial feature.
The ability to change preferred type (alpha/beta/release) of all addons would be really nice.
The new changelog interface, being able to see the latest, rocks. Thank you!
It recognizes more modifications, e.g., it sees that I've mucked with Auctioneer, which v3 doesn't.
Selectable and sortable columns.
What's the "AddonSync" button? Does it find and preserve my modifications while updating the addon? That's probably too much to wish for, hunh? :)
Sep 15, 2009Just figured I'd mention my experience with the v4 beta. I realize that I should file tickets for all of these issues, but I got too frustrated after only 5 minutes with it that I uninstalled it.Posted in: Updaters
First, many of my installed addons, which v3 manages for me and are on Curse, did not show up in v4.
Second, only 2 of the 5 addons I've customized showed up as customized, and my only two options were to reinstall/"update" to the current Curse version, or set the addon to Ignored. I don't want any of these to be ignored, I want them to tell me when there's an update. For example, many of Tekkub's addons are designed for options to be set by mucking with the code.
v3 had 2 updates for me, while v4 didn't find those updates.
While the concept of skinning is nice, it'd be nice to have a "no skin" option. Just look like a standard windows app, dangit.
So, yeah, after about 5 minutes of this, and not finding any options that might help, I tossed it out the window, feeling like it's alpha quality with a whole LOT of missing features, rather than beta quality.
Sep 1, 2009Stuf is a unit-frames addon.Posted in: Addon Ideas
And if you want the "perfect" UF, plan to spend many many hours configuring one. Avoiding eyesores could be difficult, but if you want to fix that, you'll need to write your own. Removing what you consider to be clutter can be done with any UF addon I know of by spending time looking through the options.
Aug 23, 2009I'm curious if there could be an option to fix which object is the center of the center area. I want one particular one directly in the center, and two more to the right of it. Right now I'm sticking a couple little buttons to the left only to get the one I want centered.Posted in: Data Broker AddOns
Yeah, this is an easy workaround, so if it's much trouble at all, ignore this request. :)
Aug 22, 2009Is it possible to change the size of the text Blizzard uses for the numbers it pops up above the heads of mobs you damage?Posted in: AddOn HELP!
None of the scrolling combat text mods I've tried (SCT, MSBT, Parrot) can put up their numbers above the mob's heads. For me, seeing exactly who I'm smacking is important, but I don't like my entire screen covered in yellow. I'm trying to either set the font height to 10ish, or the scale to 0.3 or so.
I'm happy to put together my own tiny addon to do this, if Blizz even allows it. I've found a number of code snippets that I've tried to put together in various ways, but nothing seems to actually affect the size of what I see on the screen.
Does Blizz allow this? If so, can anyone give me a hint as to how to do it?
[Feel free to move this to a more appropriate board, wasn't sure if it should go here or LUA code discussion or General.]
Aug 19, 2009Bah. Well, then, stop playing wow, stop working your real job, stop sleeping and eating, and work 24 hours a day until you get this done! You're supposed to support all your users who don't pay you a dime!Posted in: Raid AddOns
Thanks again for a great addon. Even though I'm now known as "the soup nazi" in my guild, they do appreciate all the reminders I give 'em through RBS.
Aug 18, 2009Any chance of adding checks for pet buffs? Or letting me know what option(s) I'm missing if that's already in there?Posted in: Raid AddOns
We frequently have problems with our paladins failing to buff hunter and warlock pets, which annoys said hunters and warlocks. :)
