posted a message on MBB (Previously MiniMapButtonBag) memory usage
I originally posted this in the Addon Ideas thread, but I think it really belongs here.

I am a huge fan of MBB, especially now that it is Ace2. However, I am still using an older version, because now if I update from the WAU I get a terrible memory leak. I know it is MBB because I can watch it climb the list in my memory usage display. It will get up to about 20mb, and then finally garbage collection catches it and it starts again. By the way, it reaches 20mb within 5 minutes. I can exit the game, replace it with the older version, and voila! all is good and happy again. I'm not sure what went wrong, but please, please take a look at it. I will undoubtedly miss some important feature or benefit of the newer versions if this continues.

I am using version MBB-r57466, and it works fine. Anything later has this memory issue.

    MuLepton,

I had edited this portion of my post in after the fact so maybe you didn't see this. I only had to install the 3 addons with externals. Once I did that I found that I had indeed done everything correctly... except that I had not installed these with externals.

[edit] Ummm, ok, that was the problem. Sorry I didn't think of this to begin with. I went back and installed eePanels, shared media and SharedMedia-2.0 with externals. Now it works, with some funky effects, but it does work. So I've learned a lesson today... It is not always best to download without externals... Never mind!

Thanks Seerah, I think I started using the WAU before that was added though :) But now I know. Thanks for the linky, I'm studying this stuff so I can hopefully write an addon of my own. I'm sure there is one out there that does what I want, but I want to give a try :)

No, the file's entire path, including name is E:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia.lua

And the textures I want to use are located in a folder at E:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files

Surely the drive being something other that C: is not the cause of this. E:\Program Files\World of Warcraft is my WoW install directory. *shrugs*

Also of possible note... I download all of my ace addons without externals, but I also update via the WAU before I log in every day. So I know that my ace files are up-to-date. I didn't think of this as a problem until I saw a discussion about another addon "running embedded" whatever that means. *blushes*

Was this issue ever resolved? I am having exactly the same problem, except with borders. I doubt that it matters which type of file as long as they are named in the Myfiles.lua. I have spent the entire day searching through posts on this forum, and I've tried everything at least once. Some of them twice. *sigh*

    Can anyone help?

I am using the most recent version of SharedMedia-2.0, and its library as available on the WAU. I am using eepanels, and that is where I want to use the borders, and maybe with Skinner ultimately. I am simply not seeing my borders in the dropdown box as I have understood that it would.

    Posting my lua here...

    local LSM = LibStub("LibSharedMedia-2.0")

-- START of the section that you should be updating
    --background:
    LSM:Register("background", "UI Texture", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\UI Texture.tga]])
    LSM:Register("background", "stormfrontright", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\stormfrontright.tga]])
    --border:
    LSM:Register("border", "Xbar", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\Xbar.tga]])
    LSM:Register("border", "Xbar1", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\xbar_1.tga]])
    LSM:Register("border", "CatsBorderGold", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\CatsBorderGold.tga]])
    LSM:Register("border", "CatsStorm", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\CatsStorm.tga]])
    LSM:Register("border", "Xbar2", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\xbar_2.tga]])
    LSM:Register("border", "Rt UI-Tooltip-Border", [[Interface\Addons\SharedMedia-2.0\MyMedia files\Rt UI-Tooltip-Border.tga]])
    --font:

    --sound:

    --statusbar:

-- END of the section that you should be updating

I sure would be happy if this could be fixed. :)

posted a message on MainAssist Request
MainAssist has been a long time favorite addon of mine. I recommend it to my guildmates as well. Actually it began their transition to primarily Ace addons :)

I guess the reason there hasn't been much comment is because it works quite well. ;)

    Thanks Nargiddley!

little off topic but does anyone know the tooltip mod(s) that are being used in this pic?

it has to be characterinfostorage, since I have it as well, and do not use the other two addons listed.

posted a message on I realize that you are busy....
That is actually the problem. I've put quite a lot of work into my UI and the artwork surrounding the minimap. Moving it down does now satisfy my requirements :( Maybe I can use a half dozen FuBar partials to make this work. I would still like to leave my request for a background strata adjustment in effect.

But I have two minor (I think) requests. I love the mod and plug-ins but I won't be able to use them until these requests are met. *So sad*

I would like to have the bars themselves at the background strata, instead of lying on top of my buffs, minimamp, etc. I know that it is possible because most of my Discord Art work was set up that way. And yeah, I'm going to feel like the biggest fool ever if this is already possible. I've spent 5 hours trying to make it work.

And request 2... for example, I have a 1280 horizontal resolution. I want the bar to only take 1024 (or any adjustable number) of that horizontal resolution. Hope fully both of these things have already been accomplished and I have just missed them.

Thank you, and *salute* to your fine work :)

Bless you for the update *cheers*. The ones posted on UI.worldofwar.net and on curse are posted by someone named Nenie. I'm not sure they are the real deal. The updated version on the svn is like coming home after a long trip. Thanks again!
