It is possible to play an animation.

    Check out: Waaambulance.

The only issue however is that it would take third-party programs, which are closed-source, which I wouldn't nessescarily trust. So I couldn't make it. It can, however, be done.

I'm working on it but ... *Boggle.*

    This code is horrible.

    Okay, get this, there's a function (and this is going to kill you) that converts;

    func("MyTooltip", 1, "left")

    to:

    MyTooltipTextLeft1

    Okay, WTF?

Why not type MyTooltipTextLeft1? Why bloat out memory for an extra function?

    That's nothing short of smacktarded.

Why you people want to use something as badly coded as this is beyond me, I'll do what I can with it ...

    Damn you.

I'm tempted to clean this up now.

The reason being is that ... ugh, he has some nasty global variables in there. One such being 'bag'. He's probably new at this which would explain a lot.

I actually saw this one too but I didn't spot the text at the top had doubled. I thought that someone decided that the site looked better in a really stretched format and I had palputations over whomever would design such a horror. It was only later that I noticed that the text was doubling up. Gods, I hate my sight on times. Thankfully, Kael fixed that.

I'm tempted to do that but you don't want me doing it, I'd nil the button entirely, unregister it, kill it with fervour and then make the entire thing chat-command based and based off AlwaysTrack, with a walk-to-activate system and an overhead message to tell you what you just activated. ;p See? You don't want me doing this project. Oh no.

Just wait until Ramble's version hits the shelves and your bags are sorted by button-based tabs, then nothing will ever be the same again. I'm against the categorized look of the earlier examples in this thread because they take up too much screen space. Also, folding unused categories is nice but it can leave you unprepared for when you have items in every category and it grows to catastrophic proportions, leaving your sanity to dwindle. I'm still smitten with the idea of tabs, I hope Ramble goes with button tabs over text tabs or it's going to be ugly but regardless ... tabs are a great way to manage bags - because you'll only have one category showing at any time and you you can compensate for the amount of screenspace you'll need, that way.

    Those are good but ...

I may have to take you aside for a few hours to explain the merits of OO and the evil, badbad-ness of procedural. You shouldn't be showing people procedural code because it might convert them back into bad, evil coding habits of the proverbial Warcraft dark ages. We don't want that, we've risen above that! We don't want to go back to those days of forums where man ate man and code was almost purposefully destructive. We're more evolved than that now.

    Was that satire? Yes.

Aside from the procedural thing though, those're good functions! They'd make good Utils too, check out the Open Util initiative.

They're a strange and weird peoples, matryx. The American culture practices some grammatical and lingual ideals that would make most English lecturers wish to throttle themselves with their own tie. It's best not to wonder why because in the end, you'll only lose your sanity over it and end up ... just like them! *Ominous.*

*Coughs.* Just to help save your sanity, I call a # a hash too. I also call a £ a pound.

Why would you want to put a max limit on the pages? The current FuncBook was created so that the max/min page amounts would be defined by the player themselves (so they could have 5, 10, 50 or whatever max pages), as opposed to the developer forcing them to have X hard-limit of pages. I'm not saying you shouldn't take this route, I'm just wondering why you would.

Downforce, you have my full permission to (if you desire to do so) trim down FuncBook and release it as a Jotter replacement.

    Won't FuncBook work for this?

It can now set as many pages as you like so it's just as good as Jotter. You can continue to add pages as you need them. Just ... don't click the Run button.

Well guys, now that he's updated AutoRepair ... he has nothing to hold him back so I say we hold Kael to his word on AceBar. With fervour!

For I too have old TitanPanel AddOns that were for TitanPanel before TitanPanel went from good to suck, then from suck to blow. Just a note to Kael, remember KISS. Oh please do. Don't try and do more than a bar is supposed to be, don't try and be the new TitanPanel because that'd make me disown AceBar. ;p

Be the old TitanPanel, back when it was beautiful and unbloated, back before the incredi-suck and bloat set in. I want to convert these AddOns to something worthy and I know if anyone can make worthy, Kael can. It just has to be KISS.

Heh, I still prefer LuaPad, not sure why. I guess LuaPad allows me to use my own ingeniousness more than having something do everything for me. Plus, LuaPad is very flat, small and beautiful. You have to look at LuaPad's code, you really do, it's amazing. I've been tempted to recreate it in Ace and AceGUI. I might just ...

I like it but could we perhaps do it via an iconic system? I think having long text-tabs in Warcraft might look a bit ugly and out of place, if we do go with it then I envision something like this ...

    http://mastaile.mine.nu/TabBags.jpg

Basically, each of the buttons would have a major item from the bag, by clicking them you open that category. The numbered one is a custom bag, you can add as many custom bags as you want, basically it's a blank icon with a fontstring that has the number of the custom entry.

Mm, if we did go with that approach, the only thing that I request is that you have the option to only show the buttons ... . or perhaps a semi-faded tooltip background without the border behind each category would help distinguish the bags, I'd suggest making it colour coded, where the player can configure the colours.

I'm thinking something along the lines of (and please excuse the crappiness) ...

    http://mastaile.mine.nu/ColouredBags.jpg

What we might also have is a little icon at the top left distinguishing the 'type' of bag by using a major item of that class and we could have a little [x] at the top right of the bag for closing that category.
