Can't you adapt/copy the current filters and modify them to "highlight" instead of "buffs"?

I thought the aura settings were preset.

I haven't fiddeled with filters yet, i'll have a look.

i would love to change my target´s frame border to a certain color if the enemy target has a class-removable buff.

    Mages - stealable
    Shaman - purgable (magic)
    Priest - dispellable (Magic)
Hunter - tranq (enrage / magic)
    Rogue - shiv (enrage)
    Warrior - ? (magic?)
    Druid - ?
    Warlock - ? (magic/felhunter?)
    deathknight -
    Paladin - cleanse (magic)

Can i do this with the current Pitbulll4?

trust me, I start to hate Windows search. I did search in XP recursive for all files containing the phrase "ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler" and it yielded 0 (zero) results...

    Well, got cygwin, and grep...

    grep -r ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler *
    BadBoy_Levels/BadBoy_Levels.lua: ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler(unpack(p))
    Chatter/Modules/ClickInvite.lua:function mod:ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler(frame, event, ...)
    Chatter/Modules/ClickInvite.lua: return self.hooks["ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler"](frame, event, ...)
    Chatter/Modules/ClickInvite.lua: self:RawHook("ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler", true)
Sorry for being stupid and trusting Windows.

And thank you for your Patience, Phanx. I hope i found what i needed to know, but servers are offline now till 11:00.

    Quote from Phanx
The error would be caused by an addon either:

    (a) ...hooking ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler to alter the appearance of messages in the chat frame. There's not really any reason for most addons to do this now that chat message filtering is available through ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter and related functions.

    (b) ...calling ChatFrame_MessageEventHandler directly to simulate chat messages that weren't actually received from the server as real chat events. For example, an addon where people in town relayed the contents of Trade chat to you over the addon comm channel, and then printed those messages out in your chat frame in a way that made them look like you were really seeing Trade chat, might do this.

    update: first impression was false.

when i disabled chatter, the error was gone. Then i enabled phanx chat and the error was back.

Now it stays even though i did disable chatter and phanx chat. *sight*...

But i noticed that -/who does not work as well...

ok i finally give up, i got no idea how a) or b) would be implemented. Thus i don´t know for what i am looking. It could be an Addon or an (outdated) lib. Thank you for the insights, but this is far above my addon knowledge.

I am still trying to understand what does cause the error.

If i understand you correctly WoW does choke during some event handling for the ChatFrame, trying to figure the arguments and is expecting arg1 to arg4, but arg4 is not supplied by the Event creator.

Assuming that the blizzard code itself is error free, I did conclude that there must be an addon creating a faulty message for the Chat frame. The only function I found doing this is

    SendChatMessage("msg" ,"chatType" ,"language" ,"channel");
Where arg4 is only needed for Channel and whisper communication.

I am still trying to understand the system, and looking for clues.

posted a message on tracking ChatFrame on Event error

lately i get this random error:
1x Error: Original call failed after running hooks for: ChatFrame_OnEvent :
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2776: bad argument #1 to 'strlen' (string expected, got nil)(tail call): ?:

    <in C code>: in function `MoveForwardStart'
    <string>:"MOVEFORWARD":2: in function <[string "MOVEFORWARD"]:1>

The Problem is that bugsack is not able to tell where the OnEvent failed.

Would it be possible to list all addons that registered the corresponding OnEvent call? -- does this one belong to ChatFrame or the "MOVEFORWARD" event?

I am hoping that i can narrow the problem down to a few addons before searching for the strlen function. If i understand this correctly there is a function suddenly returning nil instead of a string making it fail.

posted a message on Grid — compact party/raid unit frames

for grid 1 there used to be a macro command which would show the grid frame in any a x b square.

I tried to fake this layout by selecting 40 man raid (or any other) but as long as i am solo grid will only show a single 1x8 bar, but i would like to see a 5x8 bar.

The Problem is that my cast bar got stuck in grid, and to configure it properly i need to be out of combat, or i have an interface issue and afking in AV i do not see as a "fair" solution towards the other players.

Does this command still exist, or would it be possible to implement it?

something like /grid fakelayout rows columns ?

posted a message on Alchemy stats

I was wondering if there is any addon out there that does track alchemy procs that is maintained and works with 4.01.

I did start out with alchemy stats and tweaked it as long as there were no errors thrown, but I do not know the API well enough to fix the remaining errors nor do I know if it´s coded as it´s supposed to be.

I have attached my current "working" copy, that does choke on things, but used to work pre 4.01.
