If someone got a WotLK beta key and is interested in re-doing PallyPower once again for new secured frame methods... Good luck to you!
Going back to holy priest and don't have a beta key anyway. :)

first i'd like to say that i'm very very happy with this addon, and nearly couldn't live without it. paladins certainly get the short end of the stick when it comes to buffing, it's so difficult to do and your mod helps that immensely.

now that i'm done with that, i'd like to mention that i had this long, well thought out well laid out post ready for you. then, my computer's power mysteriously went down, but the computer right next to it (on a different outlet) was unaffected :O. either way, excuse me for being too short in my explaination if i am.

before i begin, there are 2 methods of improvement, both which may or may not cancel out the other. if you'd like to see my second feature suggestion, scroll down further as you it may be more relevant to your interests.

i'd like to mention, i did read http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=7600.msg182929#msg182929 and was unable to get this function to work. i may have been able to get it working with more effort and trial/error, but i'm including my suggestion because i think it takes this function much further.

edit: yay for me being an idiot. i noticed the features i'd requested had been discussed previously, but very little (or i didn't understand the solution). i'm leaving it up for the sake that i don't see these functions in pally power, and if they are there i'd still like to know how to use them. if you're busy and don't feel like reading over stuff that's been discussed already, atleast look at the code block below to get an idea about how the interface for such a thing could be improved.

basically, there would be 2 profile styles i'd like to see

profile style 1) stores all of the buffs per class per paladin (limited to the buffs of 1 paladin only)
profile style 2) stores all of the buffs of all of the paladins and 10 minute exceptions for the entire raid.

profile style 1 is pretty simple, and the reason for it is rather self explanitory. one could save a profile for each situation and save each of them to profiles, then identify which situation they are up against and load the profile for each paladin accordingly. (small note, these 'profiles' will only be stored on your personal computer, i don't think profile transferring would be worth the effort it may incur).

for instance, one could have the profiles:
    single pally
    wisdom/might
    salvation/light
    kings

then, lets say you have 1 paladin in a raid, you could assign him the buff assignments "single pally". that may look something like this (not an accurate representation of buffs i would hand out due to me just wanting to get an explaination out rather than assign buffs)

warrior rogue druid paladin priest warlock hunter
pally1: kings might kings kings salv salv might

profile style 2 is very simple and really doesn't constitute an explaination. the basic idea is to be able to take a raid of a specific composition (identical players, etc) and resume it the next day without having to deal with pally buffs a second time. this would allow for less downtime and make things much easier for guilds who split up raids among multiple days. for a guild with a permanent 25 man raiding team, i would see this as a very large convenience as most of the time the raid participants change very little.

    Idea #2

this idea could completely invalidate the reason for including support for profiles as i stated earlier. i personally feel that they could both be very beneficial even if both implemented, but i guess that's opinion based. either way, this would be what i would consider my more desired improvement for pallypower.

basically, it would be a buff priority system, one that preferably you could save/load profiles on as well, but not necessary.

in the configuration screen (the black background box with all the assignments), you'd have an extra button across the bottom, or some other way to access it. it would basically replace the paladin names on the left with priority levels, for instance:

    class1 class2 class3 class4 class5
pally1 | kings wisdom might light salv
pally2 | light kings salv kings wisdom

    would turn into

       | Warrior |Rogue |Priest |Druid |Paladin |Hunter |Mage |Warlock |Shaman
    ______|_________|______|_______|_______|________|_______|_______|________|______
    prio1 | kings |might |salv |kings |kings |kings |salv |salv |salv
    prio2 | light |salv |wisdom |wisdom |wisdom |might |wisdom |kings |wisdom
    prio3 | might |kings |kings |might |light |wisdom |kings |wisdom |kings
    prio4 | salv |light |light |salv |might |salv |light |light |might
    prio5 | sanc |sanc |sanc |light |salv |light |sanc |sanc |light
    prio6 | | |might |sanc |sanc |sanc | | |sanc

(6 because there are only 6 pally buffs, other than the non-standard ones)

this is an example of how mine may look (attempted to have somewhat accuracy, but it's mostly fictional/no thought priorities i've thought up).

once this is made, you could save it, then go back into your standard screen, which would then have an extra button or 2. new button #1) Generate assignments for raid new button #2) generate assignments for self. these would do exactly what you may think. the automatic assignment generation would go based on talented buffs assigned to their respective buffer, then beyond that no particular system is necessary (if one is necessary to use, alphabetical works lol)

this would open the door to a sorely missed feature that pallypower could have, the ability to generate personal buff assignments when no one else has pally power. i think this is a shortcomming that this priority menu could solve. simply generate buffs for targets based on the first priority available that hasn't already been buffed. once the buffs are generated (only generated when explicitly clicked in the interface to generate, so that you don't have constantly changing buffs, or perhaps even an option to toggle such behavior), you can further tweak them to your preference.

i know this is probably quite a tall order as they say, but i believe its benefit would be well worth it in the end. if you need help, i'd very gladly give you fictional code which would show you how you could acheive the various assignments. though i don't know much about lua, i have programming experience, so perhaps it would help.

people who are not a developer for this addon, please post your opinion/suggestions/etc about this addon improvement idea so that the author can get some feedback as to wether or not it is worth the implementation.
I have thought a lot about your idea 2 as well and even started working on it too. I even extended it with idea's such as adding scanning of the raid for their talent spec to adjust blessing assignment. And for people not in range i actually scanned armory for information about how to guess the spec from things like buffs and hp/mana ratio. The scanning part worked fine but the main problem was actually assigning the blessings from this information. If a promoted person just clicked the auto assign button it would be doable. But my idea was that if there was no such person, it would take into account what other people already had assigned. And the way i thought about combining this with profiles is that you could have profiles for different priorities of the blessings.

But my motivation for implementing it sort of disappeared since I'm not sure for how much longer i will be playing a paladin. But if someone else is up for the task i can hand over what i have. Also PP won't be as usefull in wotlk as it seems atm because some blessings being removed-

Yes, please send me a diff file (by pastey or attachment or otherwise).

Not sure if people know about it, shift-clicking the checkboxes currently select every checkbox between the last and currently clicked checkbox. Yes, this is a "hidden feature". :D
Here is the diff. Right now when ctrl is down deselection isn't working but not sure if this is an issue. Also thought that maybe a small tooltip for the checkbox's should be added so people know what holding down shift or ctrl does.

Would anybody mind if i added a small feature to Postal_Select so that if you hold down ctrl when clicking a checkbox, all mail from that sender are selected? I find it quiet useful when i have to disenchant stuff from people that i take stuff from one person at the time. :)

Would anyone happen to have an idea how to make a macro which calls the target-rezz-function if I got a friendly corpse targetted, and the auto-rezz-function if I don't?

I've been fiddling with calling the mod-internet functions from a macro, I figured it's /script SmartRes:FunctionName(), but seems to be wrong. :S
You can't call it since spell casting is limited to clicking secure buttons or pressing hotkeys assigned to these secure buttons. However it is possible to adjust smartres so it picks people you have targeted first.

I think the tained messages should be gone now. Also added check if events are already registered so that error shouldn't happen anymore.

Avitus > Registering OnEvent isn't really something I'm that fond of since it will be called a lot in combat so your update will mean a small slowdown. So if it's not too much to ask just wait a few days and i think I'll get the time to look at it. :)

So if I just use the auto buff button and spam it, how will I know if everyone has their buffs?
As you cna see on this picture:

The button turns yellow when just some members of a class needs a blessing, it will turn red when all members of a class needs a blessing. And the two timers shows the shortest time left on a normal and greater blessing. But you cna only use the button to rebuff out of combat as i already mentioned :)

I have a number of questions. First off are there any mods that would help me customize or even auto-hide my PP window so that it doesn't look so ugly, whenever I am changing my UI, it always seems like I'm limited by PP because it's so large and cumbersome.(I've tried scaling it down switching it from 1 column to 9, etc...)
There is no way changing the looks other than editing the xml file no.

My second question is, if I hide the player buttons, and for instance we have 2 fury warriors and 2 prot tanks, I am assigned to greater light on the prots and 10 min salv on the fury warriors, if I left click and right click to apply the 30 min and 10 min buffs respectively, will it automatically buff both fury warriors with 10 min salv?
You will have to right click two times for both fury warriors to get the 10 min salv but it will work. However if the boss fight is longer than 10 min you can't use pallypower to rebuff them, which is the whole reason the player buttons exists. :)

You can even hide all the class buttons and only have the auto buff button and just spam it. Or even hide that and just use the shortcuts to rebuff. :)

It seems there's a problem with that update, when 2 pallies in the same raid got the new version, then we both get disconnected after a while. Probably something to do with synchronization ?
That is a strange behaviour. All i do is send a small additional message, nothing that should be able to cause any disconnects. One of the few ways addons can cause players to disconenct is by sending too large amounts of data but i can't really see that being the case. Please say if it keeps happening.

Added option called Free assignment. If you enable it, you allow non promoted paladins in your group/raid to change your blessings. So if you leave it disabled nothing new will happen. Let me know if it causes any problems. :)

I found a small bug in the code that sometimes gave a error when logging in (classlist being empty). So I'll test it when i get the chance to raid and see if it works in practise. :)

    Hi,

    Great addon. I love it!

We have recently started running with 5 pallies in a 25 man raid and have a mix of Tank and DPS warriors in the raid. With 5 pallys, there are only 4 useful blessings for a warrior tank (light, might, sanc, kings). Our fifth pally can't buff a greater salvation because that will affect the tanks, so buffs a 10 min salv to the dps warriors only.

This works well, however when there is no greater blessing assigned to the warriors, the 5th pally cannot see their class to be able to small-buff the dps warriors.

The following patch remedies this. It allows any class to be seen when small blessings or large blessings are applicable.

I would appreciate it if you could work this into a future revision of Pally Power. Diff is against the latest Pally Power version.

    *** PallyPower.lua 2008-04-29 23:22:11.000000000 +1000
    --- PallyPower.lua.5pally 2008-04-16 17:56:46.000000000 +1000
    ***************
    *** 1203,1209 ****
        local cbNum = 0
        for classIndex = 1, PALLYPOWER_MAXCLASSES do
        local _, gspellID = PallyPower:GetSpellID(classIndex)
    ! if (classlist[classIndex] and classlist[classIndex] ~= 0 and gspellID ~= 0) then
            cbNum = cbNum + 1
            local cButton = self.classButtons[cbNum]
                cButton:SetAttribute("classID", classIndex)
    --- 1203,1209 ----
        local cbNum = 0
        for classIndex = 1, PALLYPOWER_MAXCLASSES do
        local _, gspellID = PallyPower:GetSpellID(classIndex)
    ! if (classlist[classIndex] and classlist[classIndex] ~= 0) then
            cbNum = cbNum + 1
            local cButton = self.classButtons[cbNum]
                cButton:SetAttribute("classID", classIndex)

This change would mean all buttons are shown all the time. An idea solution would only show buttons for those classes that have greater and/or normal blessings assigned. So if you could make a change like that I'm sure all people would appreciate the update. :)
