posted a message on aguf - maxhp/maxmana gone?
For the last month or so, after updating to a newer version of aguf, my maxhp and maxmana have disappeared. This happens on my player frame, and also on my target frame when I have another player (or myself) selected.

What's strange is in my Target's target frame, there's no issue at all.

    Here's an example image:
    http://www.ivisionhosting.com/temp/images/health.jpg

Before you ask, I didn't change the default text display. It is on it's default "[curhp]/[maxhp]" as normal.

Another interesting tidbit is that I sometimes play from a different PC with the same aguf version, and it's not a problem here. The only difference is the resolution.

    Please help!

posted a message on aguf - multiple configurations for raid frame layouts
    Hi -

I've been thinking about how BC groups/raids work, and you mainly have a few different setups: 5/10/25/40. I love how the party window disappears when the group gets converted into a raid, but I think it would be even better if you had multiple raid layouts based on how many people are in the raid.

It would be great just to have the layouts and switch them manually. Having them change simply based on the number of raid members would be the icing on the cake.

    Thanks for reading.

posted a message on aguf and newest PTR - game crashes
I've been having fun on the PTRs, however with the latest PTR patch, I couldn't get in to game without getting a fatal exception. After skimming through the memory dump, I noticed that aUF was referenced. I then disabled aguf and was able to load up successfully.

This may have somethign to do with some of the new lua changes in 2.1. What's odd is that I had no problem with aguf in the previous PTR build.

I have included the memory dump, I hope it helps.

Let me conclude by saying I love aguf, and I really appreciate all the hard work that has gone into it. Thanks!

    Guys -

I don't religiously follow these forums so I don't know if there's been an announcement about some sort of upgrade to your bandwidth.

The last few days of using WowAceUpdater have been lightning fast, and I just wanted to say that I noticed whatever is different, and I really appreciate what you guys are doing here.

WOW is better because of this community and this website. Thanks guys.

Well, I've been trying this code out for the last few weeks and it seems to be working great.

I can't help but think there's a more optimal way to determine an aUF.unit with a given unitId, but as long as it works and doesn't hinder my gameplay, I don't care.

I'm a bit curious why this (or a more cleanly coded solution) hasn't been added to aUF_Banzai as a fix yet. I noticed there was an aUF_Banzai update last week that didn't fix this, so I had to readd the above code.

This functionality has already saved hundreds of deaths in raid situations (PVE and PVP) because I'm able to preemptively heal before the target of the enemy even takes damage. I made a video of a Thaddius kill last night with this code added. While the Thaddius encounter isn't the best example of how this should work, you can clearly see who pulls agro for a split second during the throws at 0:22, 0:42, 1:02, etc into the video.

So don't? Its haste's right to do what he wants with his addons. A casting bar replacement shouldn't need updating. Why can't you just download it, and be done with it?

Quiet you. You're one of the reasons I have to go to another site, especially now that perfectraid is back. :D

I suppose I should have been more specific.

I currently have two hubs that I rely on for addons. WowAceUpdater is one of them, and I have two or three that I get from curse.

I guess my point is that I've switched over to many ace2 addons for the pure convenience of updating them. I've relearned how to do many things with ace2 addons so that WowAceUpdater can be my 95% catch-all for new addons and updates. I like the new addons better in most cases.

So why should a relearn a different casting bar when the "convenience of updating" factor no longer applies (because I now have to go to a third site), especially when disagree with the author's handling of this entire situation?

So I'm a little late to the Ace2 show, but I heard about this neat casting bar that was similar to eCastingBar, but more importantly, it's on the SVN so I can easily update it. I searched everywhere for this addon, only to find that the developer has backed out of the SVN, and is hosting it on his own website.

My goal here is the ease of updating my addons, because it's extremely hard to find them all. Since oCB doesn't exist here, I think I'll just stick with eCastingBar despite it's larger memory footprint. At least I can find it for updates.

posted a message on WowAceUpdater Bug - Restrictive Firewalls
    Hi,

After falling in love with WowAceUpdater, I decided I'd install it at my work PC so I'd have something to do in my spare time, however I kept getting an error "Illegal characters in path."

After tracing through the code, I've determined that if you are behind a firewall that restricts gaming sites (such as wowace.com) the downloaded index file will actually be replaced with an HTML file, and therefore cause the path error. In my particular case, it was trying to access C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\<HTML> which is indeed invalid because of the <>.

It would be great if in a future revision WowAceUpdater could support proxy servers, however just detecting firewall interference would at least remove a bug for those who have to deal with it.

Well, because the lack of raid support appears to be a bug and Rabbit is busy, I took it upon myself to attempt to fix the problem.

Essentially what the addon is doing when it fires GetAUFId is ignoring anybody that isn't actually in your party. I added some code at the end of this function to catch unitId's that aren't in your party. To see how it works, add this at around line 45:

    if not retVal then
for unitid, unit in pairs(aUF.units) do
if unit and unitId and (unit.unit == unitId) then
    				retVal = aUF.units[unitid] and unitid
    				break
    			end
    		end
    	end

My only problem with this is that it's a bit sloppy. Given the amount of times agro can stop and start within a 40 man raid, I bet constant for loops can be quite taxing, but I can't find any function built in to aguf that returns the appropriate frameId for a given unitId.

Let me know what you guys think.

posted a message on OneBag and alt+clicking items
    Hello,

I posted this as a comment on curse-gaming as well. I thought this arena might get to the author more quickly.

After using AIOI for almost two years, I was forced to adapt to another bag addon. I've been using this for almost a week and I'm really liking it a lot.

One feature I'm missing at this point is the ability to alt+click items from my bag into the mail frame, AH window, or trade windows. It's really a time saver to not have to drag things over one by one.

I really appreciate your hard work on this project, and I hope you'll consider this in a future revision.

    Hello,

I sent an e-mail to what I thought was the developer of this plug-in, but now I'm convinced it's somebody else. I'll post it here just in case :)

I really like what aUF_Banzai does with targets that have agro. I was hoping that in a future revision this addon could be extended to work with the ag_Unitframes raid frames as well. It would really be handy.

    Thanks!
