Jul 26, 2009If you keep the Master Volume slider > 0 and the normal Sound slider at the minimum, you can still hear sound files played via PlaySoundFile while all game sounds are muted. The 'best' way to do this would probably be imitating boss sounds when they're triggered by combat log event / chat msg monster yell... But that's loose use of the term best since it would still be pretty extensive to do.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Jul 21, 2009Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from lilsparkyif it's just to help you id people in the raid quickly ("#'s 23, 17 and 9 -- you're on adds") you could come up with a simple mechanism to create two digit id's based on the guid of each member. probably want to avoid hex since "b, c, d, e" might get confused on vent (tho you could use alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot which might also make people think you're uber) if two people have the same last two digits, give priority based on alpha comparison and come up with a 2ndary number (rotate one digit or maybe pick a different two from the guid).
if everybody uses the same system, then they'd have their raid call-sign.
You could also use the person's name, unless you're trying to communicate with an army of robots. 8)
Jul 19, 2009The bank bags are just normal containers with a bag # between NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1 and NUM_BAG_SLOTS + NUM_BANKBAGSLOTS.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
-- Loop through each bank bag, for bag = NUM_BAG_SLOTS + 1, NUM_BAG_SLOTS + NUM_BANKBAGSLOTS do -- and each slot in each bag. for slot = 1, GetContainerNumSlots(bag) do -- The magic. print(GetContainerItemLink(bag, slot)) end end
Jul 15, 2009Posted in: AddOn HELP!Quote from Phanx.... Who said anything about keyboard turning?
Having NumPad keybindings that you actually care about seeing means you're either left-handed (in which case they're still probably suboptimal binds) or keyboard turning.
But that's neither here nor there in terms of relevancy to the topic so ~~

Jul 8, 2009An in-game complementary color generator and profiles will never be as good as an out of game source for the same purpose. Just use kuler instead of trying to make a square wheel.Posted in: Addon Ideas
A converter would probably translate well, but there isn't a lack of resources for it and it won't see a lot of use. Use ColorTools v.1.0.3.
They're not as directly convenient as an in-game source, but they're equal to or better in functionality, and having a single web browser open is hardly inconvenience.
A rewrite and hex entry would be very cool though.
Jun 26, 2009_ForgeUser685884 posted a message on One button play though dynamic frame position, or layersPosted in: Addon IdeasQuote from ZZeeOut of curiosity, what's the theoretical limitation? For example, given a frame with one button, clicking it would produce a popup frame with a second button. This popup can only be closed under certain conditions evaluated from the buff/debuff environment (e.g., If living bomb exists and living bomb was cast by me)?
The not-theoretical limitation is that you cannot alter the position, size, or attributes of a secure frame while in combat without using secure state headers. These headers will only respond to Blizzard macro conditionals. The presence or absence of a buff or debuff is not a valid macro conditional.
This is intentionally impossible under the addon system. The developers do not want addons to make combat sensitive decisions for you. This is exactly what you're asking.
Jun 16, 2009Use a filter mod to replace both of them.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Any of the above. You can set up custom filters in game to show debuffs or buffs on virtually any valid unitid, including your target.
May 17, 2009Posted in: Addon IdeasQuote from ElkanoThere is currently no ingame API telling you which sepcific "buffslot" a buff is taking. So one would have to manage a list of its own. And since the buff API doesn't return spellids, one would have to fill the table with names hoping that no two names are the same. I don't know if eg the buff food is part of the global buff blocking system but if it is you run into problems since there is only "well fed", which means you would also have to parse the tooltip for these buffs.
Food is it's own school of buff and doesn't interact at all with class buffs. Same for Flasks (or 2 elixirs). Even if somebody wanted an entire list it wouldn't be too time consuming to make. @OP: Have you tried something like TellMeWhen? You could also use a buff mod that supports filtering (ElkanosBuffBars SatrinaBuffFrames3). Just create a new frame and set up a whitelist for Battle Shout & Blessing of Might.
Apr 29, 2009Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from MistsRather offtopic, but fish feasts are not the best for AP-based classes, they should use agi/str instead since those scale with talents/BoK. So there is merit in doing a more comprehensive check than "did he eat a feast" if the intention is to detect the absolute best food buff.
Scaling with kings doesn't automatically make it better. Aldriana's and Vulajin's sheets show AP food as the best for rogues by roughly 60 DPS (without 4 piece t8 ).
Apr 12, 2008I did a quick update of this a bit back by request.Posted in: Addon Ideas

Sep 26, 2007My player frame still highlights when targeted despite having Player->Other->Highlight options disabled. Not sure if there's another option I'm missing that needs to be turned off, but I can't seem to find one after a bit of searching. Using the latest version as of post time from wowaceupdater.Posted in: Unit Frames
