The ui is incomplete atm. However if you are missing anything just post and if it is sensible it can make it into the defaults setup.

...If you make a new type of Indicator, does that mean you can have more than one?...

It depends on the indicator. Some are unique like the frame alpha (opacity) or border or health & heals.

Others are not unique like square, text and icon indicators. You can make and place as many of these as you want. Later you can delete or move them around.

Grid2IndicatorButton would obviously be quite similar to square, text and icon.

The alerts are now partly working. They round trip to and from settings. text and sounds can be made to trigger.

The actual types for any-gain and any-loss are not implemented correctly for Grid2 use. They need a unit cache system.

    Still need:
    *Creation
    *Deletion
    *Reset mechanism
    *Editing of their statuses
*Perhaps a more complete port of GridAlert

If anyone wants to own this and do a more complete port feel free to volunteer.

Layouts got a minor overhaul. The goal is to have precise changes to the various raid sizes: 10 15 20 25 40. This still needs work in bgs.

    Vehicle handling upgraded as follows:
*The vehicle status text string is either "vehicle" if on the owner unit, or the owner name if on the vehicle itself.
*charmed fixed to no longer include people that are in vehicles.
    *vehicle added to text-down
*Non pet layouts now all toggle the vehicle in place.
*pet layouts now all allow vehicle selection

    These changes require a reset.

The problem is that unlike statuses there were no completed external indicators to copy code from or any supporting plumbing for them. Grid2Alert is getting there as well as the plumbing to support it.

I will create Grid2IndicatorButton with basic plumbing and add you to it or vice versa. At that point you could probably hook up statuses to control its color / opacity as you mentioned. The spells it casts would probably be built into the indicator itself and support modifier keys for casting several spells. I will leave the actual button code to you but add the additional plumbing it will need.

...create a new text indicator and associate a status buff with it, it works fine. When I go to associate the buff with that indicator's colour, it spits up this error...

Fixed. A ticket is fine anytime. They are easier to manage than stuff in a post and are never buried by more recent posts.

I think this makes the editing part fairly robust finally. Remaining work I know about:
    • Need to work on switching indicator types between text icon and square some more. That will enable spec switching to be added.
    • Need to figure out what the reset buttons should do.
    • Finish Alerts ui
    • Sort out defaults beyond heal classes, including some way of easily condensing the display for all non-healers as well as Nich's suggestions.
    • Switch the remaining AceConfig items over. This probably means adding a new data type to LibDBLayers

If there is anything you were able to do before the layer stuff that is still broken please post or ticket it.

posted a message on Grid2 How to make a custom Layout
These are attributes you can use in the layout:

showRaid = [BOOLEAN] -- true if the header should be shown while in a raid
showParty = [BOOLEAN] -- true if the header should be shown while in a party and not in a raid
showPlayer = [BOOLEAN] -- true if the header should show the player when not in a raid
showSolo = [BOOLEAN] -- true if the header should be shown while not in a group (implies showPlayer)
nameList = [STRING] -- a comma separated list of player names (not used if 'groupFilter' is set)
groupFilter = [1-8, STRING] -- a comma seperated list of raid group numbers and/or uppercase class names and/or uppercase roles
strictFiltering = [BOOLEAN] - if true, then characters must match both a group and a class from the groupFilter list
sortMethod = ["INDEX", "NAME"] -- defines how the group is sorted (Default: "INDEX")
sortDir = ["ASC", "DESC"] -- defines the sort order (Default: "ASC")
groupBy = [nil, "GROUP", "CLASS", "ROLE"] - specifies a "grouping" type to apply before regular sorting (Default: nil)
groupingOrder = [STRING] - specifies the order of the groupings (ie. "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8")
maxColumns = [NUMBER] - maximum number of columns the header will create (Default: 1)
unitsPerColumn = [NUMBER or nil] - maximum units that will be displayed in a singe column, nil is infinate (Default: nil)
startingIndex = [NUMBER] - the index in the final sorted unit list at which to start displaying units (Default: 1)

posted a message on Grid2 How to make a custom Layout
If someone writes the code to make this happen it would be awesome and it will be done as soon as they check in their code. Otherwise it has to wait until someone has the time and writes the code for it. If it needs ui work that means until myself or possibly Gaff3 gets around to it.

If you want to personally help get it done sooner then experiment with it in Grid2/GridLayoutLayouts.lua

Either add a new layout or pick one you dont use and modify it. If you add a new one you need to add the new name in the quotes to Grid2/locales/enUS.lua:

    Grid2Layout:AddLayout(L["By Role 25"]
    .

Google words you see in that file to find layouts from other mods or Grid etc.

Meanwhile I modified "By Role 25" to actually have MT & MA in G1, G1-G5 next and the pets last.

Is it possible to differentiate between a ... buff you cast, and ... by someone else...?...

You would make two statuses. One would be buff-SacredShield-mine and one would be buff-SacredShield. Each has whatever color you want. On the indicator-color, you would have the mine one have a higher priority.

posted a message on Grid2 - wondering if this is possible
Stack count has been added. It has a checkbox like duration. The format for both checked is "duration-stack".

For the second part, Grid2 does not have a status that mixes and matches like that. You can get similar information as follows:

use group-hots to show you the presence of hots in whatever format you like. Add a text indicator with a stack count for your renew next to it.

Additionally if you use the heals-incoming status to show your own heals as well as hots ("All heals, including casted and HoTs") you can get a good idea of whats going on.

...what does an LDB display have to do with configuring Grid2...

    Nothing, unless you use Grid2Broker.

An LDB display allows you to see a display of the number of errors with a red sack, or a green sack if there are none. Clicking on it brings up the errors.

Sexymap is not an LDB display, but bugsack uses LDB to make a minimap icon via a lib. So either Sexymap or an LDB display makes debugging easier.

This is a thread about debugging though, and how to do that easily.

I have been working on issues that could be potential causes. Nothing has fixed it yet however it seems less frequent now. I think jerry said he would take a look at it sometime next week as well. There is a ticket for it already:

    http://www.wowace.com/addons/grid2/tickets/

The post narrows it down to versions 337+, however I suspect it started earlier as the code changed in 337 is limited to raiddebuffs. If someone has the intestinal fortitude to figure out the exact version it started in it would help a lot.

posted a message on Grid2 Hot colors
I assume this means you are not using the text cooldowns with digital counters then but square or icon indicators instead? Personally I find I can be more accurate with them vs colors.

It can be done if someone ports or writes a special status that changes color that way. Or more generally a color cooldown could be added for the square indicator that shows colors based on time left this way.
