    i have a slight problem with my mini map.. by slight i mean huge

    on the push today on wau my minimap is offscreen a bit too far top right so i cant move it and cant see some of my buttons... and i cant find a way to move it.. tried changing resolutions but cant find one that moves it.

    hmm. it should be impossible to move the minimap off the screen now. found a Blizz method called frame:ClampToScreen() which should be preventing it. it is possible for the MinimapCluster to be moved off the screen, but you should always be able to get it back by dragging the minimap itself.

    maybe you just have it hidden (have you bound a key to hide the map)?

    if it's truly lost, </smm reset> should reset it to the default place.

    I normally never used the location text aspect of Simpleminimap simply because I use LocationFu and it works well. However, yesterday I attempted to take advantage of this feature and it works just great until I log out/reload ui in which case the location text above the minimap doesn't show up. I can right click the map (for the menu) and when I get to the Show/Hide option the location text appears right where it should and the option is still checked. Is this an issue with locationfu or some other mod? Those are the only map mods I use and it would be nice if the text stayed all of the time. If anyone has an idea as to why this would be happening I would love to hear it :)

    there's an option in LocationFu to hide the minmap location bar which is probably enabled.

    In my mod, this happens if the map is near the edge of the screen and then the scale is changed, since for some reason the Blizzard scaling rules aren't being applied to the minimap position (at least I think that's what's happening).

    ya, the minimap is 'special' in alot of ways. i guess something to do with the background being continuously updated.

    i guess simply telling people not to move the minimap off the screen doesn't work =).

    Ok, I think I have a few more datapoints from the conversation that may help isolate this.

    if i'm reading this correctly what i need to do is add in a check to make sure the edges of the minimap fall within the UIParent frame.

    new build is up. there was a problem with the mod updating the minimap at all if it was in the default position. a silly bug that has been there for awhile. but it should be fixed now.

    funny how things work just fine here and others have so many problems with the same code.

    the huge-minimap-filling-the-entire-screen thing has been reported to me many times, but i never could replicate it very easily. the only way i could with regularity was by lowering the scale alot, moving it as far off the screen and i could get it and then increasing the scale. probably not what you're doing. it seems mods like FuBar and Titan maybe bumping the minimap off the screen unintentionally when they make room for their bars, but i don't seem to have that problem (i use FuBar, one bar at the bottom of the screen). if you can give me some insight as to why the minimap is taking over your screen i'd maybe get a better idea on how to fix it.

    scaling the minimap will crash the game if it's in the default position. strange. work-around is to move it a little. i'll get that fixed.

    okay, i get the point =). try #2 at compensating for aspect is up, try it out.

    btw, your minimap WILL move with this update, but it shoudl stay in place once it's repositioned.

    Default configuration (laptop screen, 1440x900):
    UIParent.GetRight() = 1920.0001220703
    WorldFrame:GetRight() = 1228.8000488281

    External Monitor (game auto resets resolution to 800x600 which I then resize):
    UIParent:GetRight() = 1600.0001220703
    WorldFrame:GetRight() = 1024

    If I don't reset SMM after starting on the external monitor, exit the game, unplug the external, launch and reset the game resolution back to 1440x900, SMM is scaled properly.

    ahh, because 1440x900 is not 4:3. you're changing aspect ratios. interesting because Blizz's own code, such as the Combat Text code, reference 1024 for screen width. alright, i'll see if i can come up wit some math to compensate.

    i just started using this, and i'm curious as to if the lockdown feature interferes with a mod such as mailfu playing new mail warnings and other similar features a mod might have?

    the minimap buttons are the one thing that lockdown doesn't touch. there was alot of issues with another mod that made me take out lockdown for them. however, if you uncheck the 'show mail icon' option then it will always hide the mail icon.

    I've got a strange problem that I'm guessing is a bug in the wow client but thought it might be worth posting.

    When playing on a laptop, I have found a reproducable case where I have to reset SMM every time an external monitor is used. It seems to have to do with the game resetting some layout parameters with the new screen resolution. When the game is started (either on the external monitor or returning to the default laptop only screen after a disconnect), the minimap is scaled across the entire screen, obscuring almost everything. I have to type /smm reset to fix things. Exiting the game and coming back doesn't fix it either.

    Thought I'd see if anyone else had seen this before I started hunting for a possible LUA fix.

    try running this command in both modes and tell me what the result is...
    /script ChatFrame1:AddMessage(UIParent:GetRight())

    ...if those turn out to be different numbers try this one for me...
    /script ChatFrame1:AddMessage(WorldFrame:GetRight())

    thanks.

    Sorry if the question was asked before:

    my location bar always disappears after some minutes and can only be reactivated in the options menu. After reactivation it will again disappear after some minutes. Is there something I can do to make it stay forever?

    Btw: phantastic addon, don't know how to live without it - thanks a lot!!

    something else is turning it back off. LocationFu maybe? if you enable the 'lockdown' option then SMM will lock the location bar (along with most other things it touches) and keep other mods from changing it.

    Hi there!

    I have noticed that since the last version a nice feature was taken out: customization of the coordinates seperator.
    Why did you take this out? I think it is best to have as much customization possibilities as possbile. :)

    Best regards
    X-buZZ

    because i felt that doing a extra table lookup on every update (which could be every frame) was unnessesary for what was basically a novel, trivial setting. if enough people want it i'll put it back, but it's not the most efficient way to do things. i figured i would just stick with the comma like every other mod uses =).

    **edit**
    i just thought of a way to do this without a table lookup every frame. i should be able to put it back.

    pretty simple and straight-forward. does just what it says.

    i dropped SCT when Blizz offered a built-in combat text scroller. but it's always bothered me you can't adjust it at all. with the addition of ClearFonts the text covers up the action and can be annoying if there's alot going on.

    this mod allows you to scale down Blizz's built-in combat text, making the font smaller. since the frame is anchored to the bottom of the screen, i added a way to adjust the Y-axis because when you scale it down it moves lower and lower on the screen.

    maybe next version just take out the manual adjust and do it automatically. (or at least for the major move, then offer a fine-adjust).
