I just grabbed the new version, removed all my savedvariables and gave it a go...
same problem, I adjust the scale (0.8), hide the movers, hide Location/Zoom/time and locked. Did a /rl and my minimap was gone.

I tried binding a key to hide/show, I can hear the sound, but I don't see the map :/

does it happen with other mods disabled?

new version up that is modularized, setting the stage for...well, more modules.

the coords readout has been requested a couple time...not too hard to figure out. MetaMap and Fubar both have good coord readouts, so it's not something i would use... however, after i get the core settled down a but i'll look into this.

Hover over the ping (inside the minimap) and it says who pinged..it's awesome :D

I'm having issues with smm (ace'd). I'm changing scale, regular skin, hiding location/zoom/time indicator, and any time I reload ui, change chars etc, the minimap goes away. I have to do /smm reset and reload ui... :/

that's how the pinger used to work, but i decided it was too much to try to hover over it in the time allowed. plus, it would keep you from pinging yourself on the map. so now it's a small popup (ala tooltip) at the top of the minimap.

hmm...just when you log? not when you zone? there's a keybinding for hiding the minimap, maybe this is being triggered somehow?

What exactly does the ping popup do? I thought it would show a name somewhere when anyone pings the minimap but I never saw that happen. Perhaps it is offscreen? Using the topright borderless corner style in the very top right and hiding zoom, movers, time, and location.

it does just wht you're thinking. a small frame pops at the top of the minimap showing you the pinger. it doesn't pop if the pinger = yourself, only for others.

If you were to implement The Big Picture features, you might try Ace2's module system. I think maybe idChat does this? That way you can provide extra functionality for those who want it and those who don't can just use the basic core.

    Just a thought.

actually, going the module route is on the horizon. alot of the features in this mod now can be broken out into modules so that people who want even lighter-weight can disable them. i kinda have this going with the dropdown menus currently, but they're not actually modularized, it's just a simple LoadOnDemand call.

Does it completely get rid of the border or make it like a tooltip border (prefer the later) hehe

the skins it comes with are changeable, if you want to provide one i will include it in the distro. i didn't make any of the included skins, i borrowed them from abandoned mods.

Is mouse scroll zoom feature in this mod?
this is a must for me.

Also are the features of The Big Picture in it? http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?s=&id=4919
This would be just a nice bonus to me, due to being able to remove one more legacy Ace 1.3 mod.

    yes.

no. not sure i like the idea of automatically zooming out the minimap. of course, it would be an option, but still...anything 'automatic' i shy away from. then there's a question of timing, another dependancy. if more people were interested i would consider it.

    thanks for the welcome =).

yep, you can hide the border. the mod comes with 6 'skins'; default round, square and corner with and without border artwork.

    ** edit **
in the interst of keeping all the info easily-editable and in one place, please refer to the wiki page for what this mod is and does...
    http://www.wowace.com/wiki/SimpleMinimap

in addition to the SVN, release versions of this mod can be found on curse-gaming.com and worldofwar.net.
    ** /edit **

i recently ported this mod to Ace2 because i wanted to include profile support and didn't want to design my own system for this. it's also made things like the dropdown menus easier to manage.

this is my first Ace mod ever, so i may have some stuff wrong. it seems to work alright, but i'm sure there's optimizations i can make to it and/or working better with other mods.

    any feedback is welcome.

posted a message on Help dissect hyperlinks and AddMessage self parameter
    hello.

i have a mod called topChat. one of the things it does is block spam. DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage() is hooked, the text is compared to the previous line of text and if they match then the new message is not shown.

this was a problem because it was blocking every repeated line, not just ones from spamming players. so i added a string.find for "^[[]" which causes the mod to only blocks the text if it starts with a '['.

this works fine for numbered channels (like [1. General]) because they actually start with a '[', but for un-numbered channels (say, yell, etc) this does not work. it looks like there's some hyperlink info before the name ('[' is found ~char 20).

so as i see it, there's 2 ways to trigger blocking spam on un-numbered channels. either i need to know the hyperlink format (there's gotta be some special character that denotes hyperlink information) or perhaps there's some variable in the self parameter of AddMessage that would indicate the origin of the message. something like self.sender that stores who sent the message originally.

    any help is appreciated.

posted a message on wish list :: SuperMacro and MetaMap replacements
supermacro seems to be quite dead, hasn't been updated in awhile. and there's alot of functionality in it that is useless IMHO. just a mod that gives per-character macros is all i use it for.

metamap is getting a little big for it's britches. just need something that will shrink the map frame, lower the alpha, show instance maps and do map notes. metamap goes alot further and takes up alot of room in doing so.

so those are 2 on my wish-list =). i may actually look into remaking supermacro in my eyes, that one i can't live without and it's very dead...
