    Okay, i've been looking into Nutty War Announce and in his LUA there is this:
       if event == "SPELL_AURA_APPLIED" and source == UnitGUID("player") then
            id = select(9, ...)
          if id == 871 then
             local spew = format(msgg, GetSpellInfo(id),"Used:", ShieldWall_Say)
             NuttyWarAnnounce:SpewMessage(spew)
          end
        end
    What does "id = select(9, ...)" mean?
    Something with the ID equaling 871? and if not it does something else?

    The user-facing UI elements can be weird. You might want to start with something that doesn't necessarily involve composing frames from scratch, e.g., something that only changes the behavior of an existing thing rather than creating new things.

    An even smoother introduction to WoW addons would be taking an existing functioning addon and tweaking something about it that you don't quite like.

    Yeah I've done that a few times, but just a few minor things. Gave me a feel for what some of the functions meant. I went ahead and bought the "World of Warcraft Programming" book hoping that will help hehe.

    Another qestion - StatusBar:SetStatusBarTexture("Interface\\Addons\\SharedMedia\\statusbar\\Armory.tga"[, "layer"]) would use the Armory texture , right?

    posted a message on Hate to do this, but...
    I've started really looking into making my first mod, more like second(I did the Blizzard "Hello world" mod thingy) I've looked(skimmed) through lua.org and wowwiki's "howto" posts.
    But to the point... How you get a bar to show up in a mod? I'm trying for a standalone version of Bigwigs_CommonAuras, to explain a bit - I want it to pick up on cooldowns and announce them in a rw + give me a bar timer. Any help would be great.

    If you don't want any boss block features at all, just delete the whole BossBlock.lua file.

    Kk giving that a shot for tomorrow, thank you Phanx.

    Do they run their own boss mod that blocks your broadcasts maybe?

    Nah they're not running bossblock and with the new version of bigwigs there isn't an option for bossblock and when I found the LUA file I don't really know what to change so that it will not block stuff.
    ----------------------------------
    --      Module Declaration      --
    ----------------------------------

    local plugin = BigWigs:NewPlugin("BossBlock", "AceHook-3.0")
    if not plugin then return end

    ----------------------------
    --      Localization      --
    ----------------------------

    local fnd = string.find
    local type = type

    --      Event Handlers      --

    local function filter(self, event, msg)
        if plugin:IsSpam(msg) then return true end
    end

    function plugin:OnRegister()
        ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter("CHAT_MSG_WHISPER", filter)
        ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter("CHAT_MSG_RAID", filter)
        ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter("CHAT_MSG_RAID_WARNING", filter)
        ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter("CHAT_MSG_RAID_LEADER", filter)
    end

    function plugin:OnPluginEnable()
        self:RawHook("RaidNotice_AddMessage", "RWAddMessage", true)
    end

    local rwf = _G.RaidWarningFrame
    local rbe = _G.RaidBossEmoteFrame
    function plugin:RWAddMessage(frame, message, colorInfo)
        if frame == rwf and self:IsSpam(message) then
            return
        elseif frame == rbe and not BigWigs.db.profile.showBlizzardWarnings then
            return
        end
        self.hooks["RaidNotice_AddMessage"](frame, message, colorInfo)
    end

    function plugin:IsSpam(text)
        if type(text) ~= "string" then return end
        if fnd(text, "%*%*%*") then return true end
    end
    That's my BossBlock.Lua - so lost :confused:

    Still no luck with CommonAuras if anyone has any idea.

    Again thanks for the help everyone.

    It does broadcast to raid if you have the Broadcast option checked. But you'll never see it because Bossblock is on by default.

    I've asked a few guildies, they said they don't see anything, but i'll look into bossblock.

    Thank you.

    With the newest version of Bigwigs(6516) with broadcast checked It will not broadcast to raid and also Commonauras seems to not work. Getting zero errors fyi~

    Anyone have an idea as to what is happening or know if there is any mods that conflict with the new Bigwigs?

    I don't want them on my screen at all times. I could just open my character from when I want to see them and close it when I see the stat.
