Thanks. The word "Instance" needs localization. I fixed the English and German of it. I'll commit a retag now and will do it again in a few days to pick up more localizations.

Thanks. Here is the relevant line:

    12/3 19:08:51.119 SPELL_DAMAGE,0x0000000000000000,nil,0x511,0x0,0xF531063700000583,"Training Dummy",0x10a28,0x0,116616,"Elemental Force",0x1c,5024,5023,28,0,0,0,nil,nil,nil

Note how both GUID and name of the source are nil/zero. This should read the caster's name and GUID. This is a blizzard bug. The right thing to do is to report it to blizzard on the US forum.

Sadly there is no universally robust (i.e. heuristic-free) method to reconstruct the missing information. I'll check into partial workarounds.

I need the actual combat log data. This could be a blizzard bug in that the combat log misses to have correct entries, or it could be that the way this particular spell is handled in the combat log is new/unusual. Recount does not have special code to handle individual spells. So if a spell fails it has to do with the structure of the combat log.

Can you send me the relevant combat log line(s)? Thanks.

All good ideas. Main bottleneck is disposable cycles on my end. I'm actually not opposed in having fonts handled differently (with font height setting etc) in principle but the way this is written currently that would call for a neigh complete rewrite of at least the config window if not also most parts of the details displays. Don't have the time to do it. If anybody wants to take a stab at it, and it turns out useful, I'd be happy to make it a replacement of the current one.

In terms of data collection pets and guardians are treated like any other combatant in Recount so any stat that is collected for the player is also collected for a pet.

You can see all the collected details for the pet when you do not merge it with the owner.

Psyfiend does not do any damage hence does not really show tangibly in Recount. It should, as you observed still be tracked to it's owner howeve and should appear in the summary window under pets.

Recount does not do deep aura tracking as this is very expensive and can cause slowdown during raids. Aura-related events make a surprisingly large portion of the combat log and most thanks to multiplication over the whole raid and rapid proc effects.

In Recount auras are only tracked very selectively for absorbs with an eye towards efficiency.

I do not intend to add buff/debuff support in the near future, including CC-inducing auras as this will be too slow in large-scale PVE content.

However if your concern is with RecountCC trying to implement something like this and perhaps failing for pets please do contact the author of that plugin directly. This is not an issue with Recount.

Just tested some priest guardians and they show fine for me. I am not providing support for RecountCC though.

    Did you uncheck merge pets?

If you play for a very long time and have excessive amounts of data that might cause a problem. But we are talking about the volume of a few full raids here. Not just random use. For this reason Recount offers auto-delete features and I highly recommend using it. It's turned on by default.

However under normal use you should not experiencing this problem.

Make sure you have the latest version of recount and delete all (there are multiple!) Recount.lua files in you wtf directory tree.

Committed a fix for three problems:

    - Error on deletion. It is now delayed until the next out of combat opportunity. I actually do not consider this a good option as delaying execution can lead to some hard to forsee effects, but I guess it's the best we are given thanks to blizz's new script run-time cap in combat.

    - Config window is now preloaded on entering the world. This too is to avoid an error that would occur if the config window is opened for the first time in combat.

    - Scenarios-based filters hopefully work now.

Please test the latest alpha commit r1222.

@cremor: Until a fix for the zone-dependent collection for scenarios is done, people can simply collect out of instance and get data for scenarios.

If you have to reloadui to get data collection working you are hitting a blizzard combat log bug, not a recount bug.

@Dridzt: Thanks. I'm aware that the config window too can trigger this error. Sadly there doesn't seem much info when exactly this error will trigger so it is somewhat difficult to build a lasting solution. For example what happens when someone is out of combat, but just after delete hits they enter combat? I.e. is deferring deletion a reliable way to avoid the error? If not an incremental approach is needed, but for that to work realiably I need some way to estimate if execution is within the limits. If anybody has pointers to sources that have researched this mechanism in detail that'd be very helpful.

Try the latest alpha (rev 1221) and let me know if it fixes the problem.

I am aware that there can be an issue with the config window when it is first opened in combat. Loading textures and fonts can take time and blizz has included a maximum run-time for addon functions apparently which can in some circumstances be hit. Let me know if you have the problem also out of combat.

Does ElkFaction auto-track factions that last showed some gains? I'm shopping for a faction/rep broker that does this.
