Elsia: Make sure to create threads for your addons here on the WowAce forum, and don't be afraid to post replies announcing noteworthy updates. If your addons are popular enough, then someone will be running alpha versions.

Nandini: I think Decursive has adopted something similar to your popup idea recently.

Shadoweric: It also doesn't help that most people are probably using the Curse Client now, and are too lazy to set it to pull down alphas instead of releases.

With r99, shift-clicking names in the chat frame now puts them on the QUIET queue and doesn't display results in the chat frame. Shift-clicking names should count as USER queries I think.

You might want to report that as a ticket; I'm not sure if mikk follows this thread or the ticket tracker more: http://www.wowace.com/addons/baggins/create-ticket/

    posted a message on Querier
Wow this addon is buggy. I typed the example query of "/is 500 1000" and it told me "Querier: The end ID must be greater than the starting ID. Moron." And yes, I did double check that I entered it correctly.

I then tried "/is 1 2" and got the following output:
[18:19:31]Querier: Starting Item ID scan from ItemID: 1 to SpellID: 2
    [18:19:31]Querier: Item queried.
[18:19:31]Querier: Item link not found. Try again to see if item has been cached.
    [18:19:31]Querier: Item queried.
[18:19:31]Querier: Item link not found. Try again to see if item has been cached.
    [18:19:31]Querier: Item queried.
[18:19:31]Querier: Item link not found. Try again to see if item has been cached.
    [18:19:31]Querier: Item queried.
[18:19:31]Querier: Item link not found. Try again to see if item has been cached.

    Two issues:
    - why did it mention both ItemID and SpellID on an item scan?
    - why did it query 4 items when I only asked it to query 2?

I also typed /safequery and got disconnected.

Nandini: As long as Shadowed can get the unit frame addon authors to endorse/incorporate it and eventually push release versions, people will eventually update. It sounds like he's willing to do the footwork to try to make that happen.

I do kind of like the idea of populating a WIM-like addon with tabs based on who in your friends/guild list is online.

Trying to introduce something like this, even if it's an awesome improvement, is going to be a nightmare. You've got a large install base of addons out there using LHC, and some of them are widely used but not actively maintained. The best result you could thus attain from promoting LIH uptake is that the significant number of people who will continue to use LHC addons will not be sharing any cast info with people using LIH addons and vice-versa, which will make them both worse off than if they both just continue to use the "suboptimal" LHC.

The question is thus: "Is no data at all better than bad data?" Don't think that pushing it in your own unit frame addon is enough either; even ckknight doesn't have the kind of weight to make that a feasible method of pressuring other unit frame addon authors into switching libraries :p You'll just end up turning away prospective users of your unit frame addon who care about LHC compatibility.

@Morgalm: Ever since the version with the broken localizations was released, it sometimes forgets where to send me and sends me to FL instead. I'd say it happens to me about 10-20% of the time though, not every time.

For some reason, BigBrother r207 is not detecting/reporting Misdirection casts in Trial of the Crusader 25 man normal.

Edit: Seems there's something wrong with my combat log.

How is it different from LibHealComm-3.0, which is already widely supported by many unit frames addons? http://forums.wowace.com/showthread.php?t=10435

I've used all of those database addons (and more) at various times, but eventually dumped them in favor of Ludwig because they used a lot of memory.

I did like TooltipExchange a lot because it could systematically query the server for uncached item data for items it knew about (kind of like the Query Server buttons in AtlasLoot but for the whole database at once), but I think Phanx may have ripped that out at one point due to fear of disconnects (never had a problem with that myself though).

    I currently use:
    - Ludwig to quickly generate item links by name
    - AtlasLoot to look up items by category
    - TradeSkillInfo to look up and get links for recipes
    - MobSpells to track spell usage by mob and generate spell links (could probably dump this but it's not much of a memory hog)

Getting itemlinks in game is important when using addons like RatingBuster and Pawn to compare them with equipped items.

I should grab Querier for cases where I want to look at something that isn't in AtlasLoot yet.

posted a message on Thinking of switching unit frame addons
I still use MainAssist because I haven't seen any other addon that gives me the ability to dynamically select tanks from the list as primary and secondary assist targets and use keybinds to assist them. Specifically it has "assist primary assist target" and "assist secondary assist target" keybinds, and I right-click tanks and select "set as primary assist" or "set as secondary assist" to map that tank to the appropriate keybind on the fly. Of course it only works out of combat but that's not a problem.

I wish someone would do an Ace3 rewrite of MainAssist (it's got some bugs and is probably the oldest addon I use in terms of when it was last updated).
