It's not an important feature for me personally since I run MagicTargets. My reaction was also that it should be done as a module, assuming BigWigs would let one hook into it in a way that doesn't result in the code duplication issue that Phanx mentioned.

I do find it silly though that BigWigs doesn't include health bars in some special situations like the 3 elemental adds on Freya that have to be killed at the same time. Other than tree warnings, health bars for those guys is the most useful information to have in the whole encounter IMO.

I'm still using it, although it's obviously on life-support at the moment since Antiarc seems to have gone AWOL around 3 months ago.

Someone linked an achievement or quest or something in a private chat chan over the weekend and Prat properly converted it to a link, but then later someone linked an item and it didn't convert. Seems to be some bugs/missed corner cases/whatever in Prat.

But you haven't stated an opinion. There've been dozens of posts from different people giving specific and logical arguments in favor of adding this feature in the core, and all you've ever said is "no" without giving any reasons at all. It's much the same as when you started ripping options out without giving any explanation or responding to the many posts asking what was going on. If you want to treat your users like retarded toddlers instead of adults with the capacity for reason, I guess that's your choice though. Good luck with BigWigs.

I have to say that I got the same impression as Phanx around a year ago (I got worse than "no" though, I got insulted lol) and have pretty much stopped trying to participate in or contribute to BigWigs development in any way as a result.

I still use BigWigs though because DBM has always felt more bloated (even if it has a much wider install base and is just as mature) and everything else is less mature or less actively maintained. I might try DXE since it seems to be getting a lot of development.

I also like the idea of no system tray usage for Win7.

NeT: I hate IM clients but I can probably hop on IRC sometime if that works. I need to play around with the software rendering option first though.

Didn't notice an option for that, where do I find it?

Is there a changelog or tester information somewhere that I should be keeping an eye on?

I never understood why addons like oRAx don't just scan the combat log to see when other players use cooldowns. Sure it has limitations, but it's better in many cases than relying on people running specific addons (plus I still see people running ancient versions of oRA2/CTRA that totally screw up everyone else's cooldown timers).

Edit: I guess the project page for RaidCooldowns explains the issues, but at least it still does the best it can with the combat log info.

@gagou In what ways is it slow/unresponsive?

v4 often takes 10-30 seconds to start responding to clicks if I've left it open for a while without interacting with it (e.g. letting it run for 30+ min in the background while I'm playing WoW).

It also takes several times as long to start up. I accidentally launched v3 the other day and was surprised that it came up nearly instantly by comparison.

It also takes a long time to shut down after I tell it to exit, which is something that v3 didn't do but v2 did. Actually v4 feels a LOT like v2 in terms of responsiveness (just without a lot of the UI design annoyances of v2 such as popups in the lower-right corner of the screen), which I feel is a step backwards because v3 didn't have these problems.

    Quote from dpsgnome
I sincerely doubt that any sort of solution that relies on testers to have an addon installed to know what they should test will have much success.

It would probably have to fall back on using a popup or chat message, but it would be nice to give the testers the option of collecting the messages in a better place if the practice of login-time tester instructions becomes widespread.

Popping a message in the chat window still seems like the best way to me.

Except that some people run addons that block login-time chat window spam, and most people who don't still ignore it because there's so much (which reminds me that I need to turn some stuff off in a few addons to reduce that on my UI).

Finally tried Altoholic last night, it's quite nice. Had to download it from Wowinterface though because the dependencies/pkgmeta aren't configured correctly on Curse/CurseForge.

What Elsia said. Most disadvantages can be designed out of the system, and the rest are far outweighed by the advantages.

For the unwanted contents issue for example, addons could register which places the library should track items from, and it would only need to track the union of registered locations. And as Elsia said, even if it did track the mail and keyring when you don't need them, it'd still be way less memory wasted than having two separate addons separately tracking the entire contents of your toons' bags and banks and guild banks.

Don't feel left out, it's extremely slow/unresponsive compared to v3 and deletes addons when they fail to update. They're working on the latter issue though.

Yeah I've noticed the collaboration between WIM and Prat. Unfortunately I keep getting fed up with WIM for one reason or another and disabling it.

Apparently Pazza is not working on WIM much at the moment either, and not for lack of things to do.

I now remember why I ditched WIM last time: it creates an invisible frame that covers the entire screen. Theoretically it should cause no problems, but I hate seeing it show up when I dump the frame stack via /spew mouse. Why does WIM need to create a whole-screen frame like that, I wonder?

I was referring to the addon MainAssist that you linked. It triggers those messages independently of any other addons. I mentioned it just for reference as another addon that causes the issue people are apparently seeing with ZOMGBuffs.
