No externals -- Embedded libraries are called "externals" because they are pulled from outside the addon's own files on the wowace.com SVN to create the .zip file. If you download with "no externals" it means you are downloading without embedded libraries; you can use the "automatic dependency download" option to assist you with managing standalone libraries. However, if you don't already know about embedded vs standalone libraries and why you might want to use either, I would recommend leaving the "no externals" setting off and just using the default embedded libraries.

Cleanup addon folders -- This means that JWU will delete files in the addon folder before writing the new files, to keep old files (such as changelogs) from piling up. After all updates are downloaded, JWU will then look through each addon's .toc file and comment out references to any files that don't exist. This is done because when WoW loads, every .toc reference to a nonexistent file slows down the loading process significantly. I would recommend leaving this option on.

Split addons... -- This means that addons like BigWigs, PitBull, and Quartz will be split up into separate addons for each module. For BigWigs this actually does have some use, as it means that the boss modules for, say, Black Temple, won't be loaded into memory until you actually zone into Black Temple. For PitBull and Quartz and most other addons that use this feature, this doesn't really serve any purpose, as the modules are loaded anyway (for example, PitBull's health bar module is always needed, so there is no reason to split it off into a separate addon). I would recommend leaving this option off as it doesn't accomplish much in most cases, and creates more clutter in your addons folder.

Phanx - thank you for the great info! I think that I got it to work correctly for me last night. A few other questions though regarding the options:

    - Backup and clean variables - I did this the first time thinking that I could backup everything first and maybe it did but what does the "clean variables" mean? (Like I posted earlier when I loaded Wow after clicking this and the "Update Addons" alot of the addons were gone and/or not loading.)

Hello - I recently found your new Wow addon updater and gave it a try the other day. Well not really knowing how everything should be set up I ended up loading Wow with many of my addons gone and not loading correctly. Fortunatley I had a back-up from a few days ago so I was able to get it all working properly. My question for you and possibly even others here would be this. What do all the options mean to those of us that are not so savy with what all the config options do?

    I.E.
    - No Externals - What does this mean? I just download the addon from WowAce and install it and go so I am guessing that with that download I am also downloading the "Externals"?

    - Cleanup addon folders - I read what it means by hovering over the option but its not making sence to me.

    - Split addons with present filelist.wau - Huh?

I am assuming that I had some options checked that I shouldnt have or some not checked I should have. Like I said before I just download em, install and play and thats about the extent of my understanding. lol

I downloaded the latest version 1.93. Most of my addons are ACE however I do have a bunch from Curse and one other site. I checked out your pages that describe how to load non-ace addons which I was able to figure out. Any help would be greatly appretiated!

    No such thing.

Ok so that was a silly question. Let me re-word that. Is there an Updater available that would allow you to choose to install a "Release" version rather than a "Beta" version? Or an option to choose which you would like to load?

So I posted on another thread here about the "Infinite Loop" issue (which I am aslo having as of 05-28-08) then I read further through the threads and find this one. Wow - guess I will stop using this updater which is a bummer because I loved the idea of this. :-(

Same "infinite loop" error as other have had. I can not choose cancel update either had to choose exit which in turn leaves folders in the wow directory and the majority of the addons that were in the loop to be updated ended up not showing up in the wow addon screen. Fortunately I backed up my folders just prior to using the updater after I noticed that it seemed to have updated its self flashing me a screen that stated the updater did not back up your files for you. I hope that this gets fixed soon. I use this addon daily to ensure I have the latest updates for all my addons.

Another note about the Updater - Is there anything available that would only download the "Stable" versions of addons?

    Hello again,

I am not sure of it's a bug or not but I had to turn off the option to block trades when bank UI was up. Nobody could open a trade window with me at all any time. So once I disabled that option in Postal others can now open a trade with me. :-)

Postal seems to be deleting mail. As I hold the Shift key down to retrieve mail it seems to randomly and seemingly "Skip" opening mail however it is deleting them. I noticed this while retriving mail from sales in the AH but did not pay much attention to it as I thought it had just opened and recieved the mail very fast however today I went to retrive mail from "Grandfather Winter" and my package was deleted.

posted a message on FlexBar2 Official thread
    Hello,
I was a longtime Flexbar user and I have to say that when it broke so did my game time. I quit playing for a long time as i was so used to my button layout that trying to play with the Blizzard default bars and buttons wasn?t even fun. Since then I have found a few bar/button mods which I have utilized and am trying to make due with until Flexbar2 is out.

I have found that my favorite replacement for Flexbar is Trinity Barshttp://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=6391. I like the customablility and I was wondering if the Flexbar2 UI will be anything like this? Or can it be anything like this?

    posted a message on Trash-O-Matic???
I stopped using the Ace addon because I figured the new Ace2 stuff would conflict with it.

I guess what I should have asked is, will Trash-O-matic be udated to the new Ace2 standards?
