posted a message on Bartender3 - Action Bar AddOn for WoW 2.0

Is it currently possible to have pages change on target reaction? E.g. healing spells if target friendly, damage spells if target unfriendly.

I've asked this question a while back, before TBC release, and I was told it would be possible in WoW 2.0. I don't find the option to do this though, I might be blind, or maybe it isn't implemented, or is not possible? If possible, are there any plans to add it in? Even some workarounds would do if there are no plans to add something like this.

Up to now I've been playing my warlock main 100% of the time, but I'm thinking to level up my priest alt, and I'm very used with this feature in BT2 to the point I can't imagine playing without it. :) I did some PvP post-2.0 and pre-TBC, using macros for the action bar buttons to cast healing or damage spells depending on target reaction. It isn't an ideal solution though, I'd much prefer having a proper way to do it.

    Thanks in advance.

posted a message on ag_UnitFrames aura filtering

I did some crude implementation of aura filtering, I post it here so if anyone is interested, replace the ag_UnitClass.lua file with the one attached. I added the filters at lines 51-62 and changed a little the function ScanAuras.

To customize it, change the filter tables (lines 51-62), I think it should be pretty self-explanatory, but I can help if there are any problems. There is no way to customize nicely, and each agUF update will rewrite this file, so make sure you save it before updating.

The normal agUF option "Filter Auras" applies, but instead of using Blizzard's filtering, it filters according to what's in the aUF.BuffFilter, aUF.DebuffFilter and aUF.DebuffFilterType tables.

I've only tested it a little bit, and seems to work as expected, I hope this helps people looking for a more flexible way to filter auras.

posted a message on ag_UnitFrames aura filtering

Frankly, I doubt Blizzard are gonna implement anything like this, or rather I lost any faith in them doing it. I've been following this issue since a long time ago, I consider aura filtering as one of the best features a unit frames addon can have, especially for raids. Blizzard's way of doing it is disappointing to say the very least, who in his right mind could believe is important for a warlock to see Demon Armor but not Blood Pact or Soulstone? Same goes for paladin auras, shaman totems, and many more...

I've seen the problem of default aura filtering raised few times before, either in these forums, or in Blizzard's own, there was never a comment except from other players. I don't think Blizzard are unaware of how lacking the current implementation is, but rather want to leave something so customizable in the hands of addon authors, as they did with many other features.

I used to run Minigroup2, then agUF, with some modifications I made to filter auras, it was clumsy to setup, most probably inefficient, and needed manual changes to addon files each time I updated them, but it worked. I gave up when it broke around patch 2.0 and agUF code was changing a lot, so manually editing each agUF update became too tedious.

I'll have a go again when I have some free time, and I'll post here if I get something usable.

Ok, after finding the link to the official thread on the WoW forums "not found" and checking all 19 pages of this thread, and all 4 pages of comments on the mod's listing on WoWinterface, as well as Grayhoof's portal page there . . . I can't find what I'm looking for.

There used to be a huge long list of specific custom events to mark out individual spells/skills/etc., that Graguk or someone posted on the WoW Forums thread. Where can I find this now?

I'm not sure what you're looking for, I'm guessing it must be warlock spells since Graguk posted it, maybe this is it (pasting just the relevant part of sct_event_config.lua)::

posted a message on Bartender3 - Action Bar AddOn for WoW 2.0

First of all, thanks for this great mod, it's working like a charm here.

Now for the request part :P Bartender2 had the option to change pages depending if target was friendly or hostile, is it possible to do the same with Bartender3? I believe this could be part of "Full Control about the Stance switching and Custom Event Bar Switching" in the planned list for advanced mode, however in my opinion this feature is so useful for healing classes that it should be part of basic mode too.

For now I'm using macros for each button "/cast [harm] spell1; [noharm] spell2", and while it works, it has a number of inconveniences.

Thanks and sorry if this was discussed previously in this thread, I couldn't find it (which might mean my search skills are not up to par. :D)

    • As a warlock, when I try to dismiss my pet by right-cliking it's portrait using agUnitFrames I get a warning about "accessing an interface option only available for Blizzard" (or something like that). So it makes agUF pretty useless for warlocks right now.

This is easy to work around, just start summoning any pet and cancel it, your current pet is gone.

In the new 2.0 that doesnt work any more, if you start summoning a new minion when one is out it gets "stunned" but does not despawn until your new one is summoned.

I think the was because you could accidently tap a summon spell and lose you pet at a bad moment.

You're right, I just tried it now in game... Didn't know the new behaviour, haven't tried it after patch, and it used to work before 2.0. :P

It's load on demand, so either you use a dedicated addon for managing LoD addons (I think Supply and Demand is one if I'm not mistaken), or load it manually when you want to use it by typing:

    /ace2 load tekSupport

posted a message on !!!Libs not up to date?
    Quote from tekkub »

Standalones and !!!Libs will take the same amount of time to checkout, as they do the same number of update calls due to !!!Libs's externals (okey technically !!!Libs will take longer because it has to update it's root folder and make an update call for every embeddable lib... whereas standalones like Babble will pull down many embeds at once with one call).

Only the libs that are needed are actually loaded with standalones, !!!Libs loads EVERYTHING.

Standalones are supported by their respective authors, !!!Libs is a hackey throwntogether solution that is designed for SVN-updating users, but the majority of it's users were getting it from out of date zips.

For the lib authors, standalones have all the advantages. The only complaint is "too many addon folders," which I think we've made it clear that we value performance gains over purely cosmetic issues like crowded addon folders.

Thanks for clarifying this, I didn't realize the standalone libs are only loaded when they are needed. That's neat, I see why it's a better technical solution. I value performance over cosmetic issues too, after all I'm using Linux. :)

Now, I have one question. Since I can't use WAU, I can't see what structure it creates. I believe what it does is same thing as individual checkouts from SVN of each library it contains, i.e.

    svn co --external-deps http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/Ace2/
    svn co --external-deps http://svn.wowace.com/wowace/trunk/BabbleLib/
    etc.

    Is this correct?

    Thanks for your time.

Why do you guys use it? Seriously..im interested in the answer, because 1) it causes lots of problems for me when I try to distribute my addons, and 2) Standalones are better (technically)

I'm curious why are standalones better technically?

I've been using !!!Libs for some time now, main reason being reduced load times and reduced SVN checkout times over embeds (I update my addons regularly from SVN). I preferred that over standalones because I like my addons folder clean (I tend to fiddle with it maybe too much), and also WAU is a no-go, since I'm a Linux user (it's somehow ironic that WoW can run perfectly through Cedega while WAU cannot :P ).

Anyway, I'm not complaining, you're the authors and you do what you want to keep things simple and clean, I can just change my update script to reflect the new order. :)

Thanks alot for those logs, Mist, really good job.
Suffice to say, our minds are boggled by this data. We will investigate.

    Glad to be useful. :D

For the record, we killed them second time yesterday, and didn't notice any issues with BigWigs, same versions, same people... It does seem like *sometimes* there are problems, not repeatable, not guaranteed, hard to debug I guess.

I went through the logs myself a bit too, and the most puzzling thing I found was that WoW messages seemed to be wrong, i.e. people afflicted by marks good few seconds after others. Maybe that could be put down to server lag, still few seconds seems like a lot of lag, and nobody complained about having issues during the encounter.

For people experiencing problems with the Four Horsemen module. I visited them finally last night, and the whole thing worked perfectly even with people using BigWigs 14xxx in the raid.

I see no reason for change in the module atm.

    -Ammo

We managed to finally get to 4HM again tonight, BigWigs worked almost correctly, but still sometimes it had problems. I ran Transcriptor and BigWigs_Debugger, the logs are linked below (I logged all the wipes, so they're pretty big). I also took a screenshot of raid chat for one of the problems, I unblocked all raid warnings and you can see for mark 5, there are 10 seconds from 5 seconds announce until the mark itself (and 2 seconds for same thing at mark 6).

    Screenshot

In BigWigs_Debugger.lua, mark 5 messages are at lines 1510 to 1520.

Mark 24 in same wipe is wrong too, lines 1758 to 1782 in same file, there are 26 seconds between starting mark 24 bar and the mark announce.

Some other times, running from safe spot to Thane on "Mark xx" message made me get a mark half way between safe spot and horseman position, unfortunately I don't remember what time can that be found in logs.

We took great care so everybody had updated versions (15xxx-16xxx) and that everybody resetted the module before each attempt. 34 people in raid ran it this time.

As I said before, Horsemen module works fine almost all the time, but sometimes there is something wrong with it. Might not be from BigWigs itself, but I'm at a loss trying to make it work 100% right all the time.

I'd appreciate any help and advice into how to make it work without problems. :)

Forgive me if this was answered somewhere else, I tried to find a clear answer to no avail. Will the current feature of changing the buttons when target is friendly or target is hostile be still possible in TBC? From what I read it doesn't seem to be, but I'm not sure. This is the single most useful feature of a bar addon when playing one of my healer alts, I'd hate to see it go.

That reminds me I should add log saving to Debugger.

Anyway, make sure to toggle on Builtin Stuff -> All syncs and make sure that you either have ChatFrame3 (default output frame) open or redirect the debug to another frame.

If you need any help with Debugger, I'll be on IRC until 21:00 GMT+1 tonight.

Thanks, unfortunately our warriors and feral druids slacked tonight, so we didn't have raid for 4HM.

Regarding log saving, I added this to PrintDebug function, I guess it should work until log saving is possible in BigWigs_Debugger:

    if not self.db.profile.log then
      self.db.profile.log = {}
    end
    table.insert(self.db.profile.log, date("%H:%M:%S").." ["..sender.."]: "..message)
